Dorothy Lou Hatley
HATLEY, Dorothy "Dottie" Lou - Age 56, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away in the peace and security of her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 11, 2001. She was born on Monday, May 14, 1945 in Eugene, Oregon to William Leroy and Dorothy Clarice (Williams) Burch. Dottie, a simple woman with straight forward views, had what most would agree was a pretty hard life. She would take on the wrongs of the world and sometimes the world won, but that only made her a stronger, more determined woman, who raised five kids and a grandson practically by herself. She always lived by the creed that "You'd be surprised how much you can do when; you have to do it." Her main concern in life, other than raising her grandson, were family, friends and the moment at hand. Blessed were those that stepped into her circle and learned to appreciate her and felt her appreciation. Dottie was a loving daughter, sister, mom, aunt, grandma and best friend to too many people to mention (you all know who you are). Her leisure time was often spent making beautiful crocheted afghans, playing all kinds of table games with her family and friends (which was made more enjoyable by her wonderful sense of humor). She liked to work on her plans to beat the state lottery. We would like to give a great deal of gratitude and prayers to mom's niece and guardian angel, Cheryl Ann, for her loving devotion and care she rendered to mom to make her last days more peaceful. And to all of you that shared your support and compassion not only for mom but for the rest of the family, you are in our prayers. Mom leaves behind, her father and step-mom, William and Lillian Burch, her brother, Ron Burch, four sons: Leroy Cramm, Rodney Kempke, William Zeus and Michael Hatley, two daughters: Angela Kellams and Alanna Hatley, and ten grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses Funeral Home and Crematory. Private cremation rites will follow. Those who wish may pay their respects on Friday, July 13, 2001 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel. At the family's request contributions may be made in Mrs. Hatley's memory to Mercy Hospice, 2700 Stewart Parkway, Roseburg, OR 97470. You were taken from us too early Mom and you will be missed deeply but we know that God has a plan for us all and we take great comfort in the knowledge that you are now in heaven with your beloved mother and your baby, Rebecca. "Welcome Home Momma".
