Virginia (Ginny) Proctor
PROCTOR, Virginia (Ginny) - Age 85
Our dear mother and grandmother passed away suddenly, November 15, 2000, in Canyonville, Oregon. The daughter of Bessie Mae and Francis J. Huwen, Ginny Proctor was born on July 13, 1915 in Glencoe, Illinois. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1937 with a degree in journalism, moved to southern California shortly thereafter, and married Robert Proctor in California on July 28 1939. In 1945, Bob and Ginny moved to Canyonville. Ginny worked for many years in southern Douglas County with the Myrtle Creek Mail newspaper. She was an active member of the Canyonville United Methodist Church, both the Canyonville and Riddle Chapters of the Order of Eastern Star, and the South Umpqua Historical Society. Ginny was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her brother Chuck Huwen, and her sister Marcia Slappey. She is survived by her son Bob and his wife Merrilee Eisen of Eugene, Oregon; daughter Mary and her husband Bob Marshall of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and her son Jim of Santa Barbara, California, along with grandchildren Lyra and Brooke Eisen-Proctor, Colin and Peter Marshall, and Joy and Elise Proctor. Ginny was a treasure to her family and her community, unselfishly giving of her time and energy. At the time of her passing, she had already lived a rich and productive life, yet apparently never considered slowing down, with many active current projects as well as dreams and ambitions for the future. Though we are all grateful to have known Ginny, none of us ever thought the story would end so quickly. She will be deeply and sorrowfully missed by all the many people who loved her. Arrangements for a memorial service are pending. MOUNTAIN VIEW MEMORIAL CHAPEL & CREMATORY in Myrtle Creek is assisting the family.
