Cara Marie Soisson, 21, of Connellsville, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, in the West Virginia Medical Center, Morgantown. She was born Sept. 17, 1978, in Uniontown, a daughter of Harry W. III and Laurita Vinoverski Soisson of Connellsville. She was a graduate of Geibel High School in 1997, and was a junior at West Virginia University majoring in broadcast journalism. During her junior and senior years in high school she worked at WCVI radio station in Connellsville. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville, and while in West Virginia she attended the St. John Newman Center. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Marissa Anne Soisson at home; and her maternal grandmother, Ann Vinoverski of West Leisenring. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Harry and Nellie Soisson; and her maternal grandfather, Louis Vinoverski. Friends will be received at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Connellsville, with the Rev. Michael Sciberras as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Connellsville. A parish vigil service will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

SAMUEL L. GROSEL
Samuel L. Grosel, 88, formerly of Wegley, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, in the Harmon House Convalescent Center, Mt. Pleasant. He was born June 9, 1911, in Penn, Pa., a son of the late Simon and Mary Grosel. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an inspector for Westinghouse Electric of East Pittsburgh. He was a member of the St. Boniface Church of Penn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann T. Grosel, in July 1999. He is survived by a son, Samuel W. Grosel and his wife, Lorene, of Mt. Pleasant; and two granddaughters, Kimberly and Katie Grosel. Visitation and Funeral Mass will be private. Henry C. Lewandowski, of Brentwood, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura (Czapinski) Lewandowski; and a brother, Joseph Lewandowski. He is survived by three children, Nancy Kenney, Jan Poljak and Steve Lewandowski; and two grandchildren, Nathan and Luke Poljak. Mr. Lewandowski was a retired employee of Matthews International and a World War II veteran. Ida Lois Poe, 90, a lifelong resident of Clemtown Community, Philippi, W.Va., passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, in Philippi. She was born Sept. 26, 1909, in Tucker County, a daughter of the late George and Dora (Reed) Ball. She was united in marriage July 22, 1933, to John Robert Poe, who preceded her in death in 1980. Surviving are three daughters, Joetta Ruth Taylor, of Mustang, Okla., Lola Virginia Taylor and husband, Clayton, of Zebulon, N.C., and Lillian L. Beeson, Ph.D., and fiance John, of North Huntingdon; two sons, Morrison Monroe "Jim" Poe and wife, Dean, of Canfield, Ohio, and Curtis Eugene Poe and wife, Betty, of Reynoldsville, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Poe was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Mrs. Poe was a retired teacher's educational aide and a homemaker. She was an accomplished artist and an avid flower gardener. She attended Clemtown United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. The family will receive friends at the WRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, Saturday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., at which time she will be moved to the Clemtown United Methodist Church to lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m., the service hour. The Rev. Robert Nichols and Frank McQuain will co-officiate. Interment will follow in Clemtown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to People's Hospice, P.O. CORA N. BORRELL
Cora "Cody" N. Borrell of Grove City, formerly of Edgewood, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at Grove Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Borrell was born in Grove City to Lydell and Sara Galbraith Neyman. Mrs. Borrell taught at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood. She was well known as an expert gardener in garden circles and belonged to the Rockledge Garden Club and the Iris Daylily Society. Her husband, Theodore Borrell, died in 1983. She was also preceded in death by a sister and five brothers. Surviving are five nephews and three nieces. Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood, 120 E. Swissvale Ave., Edgewood, Friday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Homewood Cemetery. Memorial tributes, if desired, may be made to the Edgewood Presbyterian Church.

Joseph A. Kunak Jr., 76, of Park Avenue, Cresson, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital, Altoona. He was born Sept. 2, 1923, in Somerset, son of the late Joseph A. Sr. and Helen Shaffer Kunak. Preceded in death by brother, Raymond. Survived by wife, the former Jean Florey, whom he married in 1948 at St. Boniface Church, Penn; children, Joseph M. of North Huntingdon, Jason P. of Scott, La., Janice D. of Penn, Joyce L. of Williamsport; Jeffrey B. of Cresson; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Brother of Ruth Schultz of Jeannette, Hellein Young of Greensburg, and Karl of North Hollywood, Calif. Retired in 1983 as a machinist with Conrail. Member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and American Legion Post 238, both of Cresson, and Sankertown VFW Post 7377. World War II Army veteran, having served as an aerial gunnery instructor in Normandy, North France, Rhineland, Central Europe and Air Offensive Europe.
