Claudia Jean (Price) Chisholm, 79, on Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at her daughter's home in Lower Burrell, where she was being cared for. Beloved wife of 56 years to William J. Chisholm of Avalon. Also, survived by loving children, David E. Chisholm and his fiancee, Dolores, of McCandless, William W. Chisholm and his wife, Sharon, of Slate Lick, Robert J. Chisholm and his wife, Carol, of Ross Township and Betty Claire Mulhall and her husband, Joseph, of Lower Burrell; a sister, Claire Gould of Bellevue; also, 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and a sister. She was a member of North Hills Chapter #526 O.E.S. and AARP Chapter #1630, Bellevue. Memorials are suggested to the Forest Avenue Presbyterian Church, 898 Forest Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15202, where Mrs. Chisholm had been a member for over 60 years. MILDRED I. RANCE
Mildred I. Rance, 77, of Penn Hills, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at her home. She was born Sept. 29, 1922, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Roy C. and Ida May Cornely Trout. She was a lifetime member of the Emory United Methodist Church, East Liberty; a former member of the Order of Eastern Star and the White Shrine, both in Pittsburgh; and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George S.P. Rance, in 1994; and a brother. She is survived by two children, Lynda L. Morgan and her husband, Richard H., of Delmont, and George P. Rance of Istachatta, Fla. Mrs. Rance's family will receive friends at the JOHN L. BASH FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, (724) 468-8381, Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 1 p.m. with her pastor, the Rev. C. PATRICK GALLAGHER
C. Patrick Gallagher, 20, of Fenelton, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, of heart failure at a residence on the campus of American University in Washington, D.C. He was born July 11, 1979, in Arlington Heights, Ill., a son of Charles P. Jr. and Mary Melinda (Feightner) Gallagher. He was a sophomore student in the government and law program at American University. At college, he had served as a volunteer for the Amnesty International Organization. A 1998 graduate of Butler Area High School, he had been a member of the Men's Varsity Diving Team and had served as a peer mediation adviser. He was selected as a member of the first group of students to receive this training at Butler High School. A member of the Order of DeMolay, he had been awarded the Pennsylvania Masonic Law Enforcement Scholarship. He also held a black belt in Tae-Kwan-Do. For the past several summers, he had been a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Butler YMCA and the Butler County Alameda Pool. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler. Surviving are his parents; a brother, Christopher R. Gallagher of Butler; grandfather, Charles P. Gallagher Sr. of Butler; grandmother, Mrs. Linda B. Feightner of Greensburg; six aunts and uncles; and a number of cousins, also survive Patrick. Friends of C. Patrick Gallagher will be received at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, the Rev. David Panther, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Butler, will officiate. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 26, at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Greensburg, with the Rev. Robert Wilson conducting the service. Private interment

LOUVELLA W. GILKEY
Louvella W. Gilkey, 92, of North Braddock, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, in Indian Haven, Indiana, Pa. She was born June 8, 1907, in North Braddock, a daughter of Edward and Martha (Bloom) Hensel. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, North Braddock. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Henry Edward Gilkey. Survived by two daughters, Louann Wainwright of Delmont and Lila Williams of Commodore RD1; and four grandchildren. No viewing or funeral services. Committal services Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, North Huntingdon, with the Rev. David D. Wilson Jr. officiating. Arrangements in charge of the WAYNE W. Rita H. Guzy, 68, of Dunbar, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. She was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Merill and Lula Carnes McFadden. She was Methodist by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Bryner and Audrey Reese; a grandson, Brenan Leapline; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Leapline. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Joseph Guzy; two sons, Kenneth S. Gerhard of Pittsburgh and Joseph M. Guzy and wife, Crystal, of Mt. Pleasant; three daughters, Barbara Conn and husband, William, of Vanderbilt, Marilyn Zies and husband, Jack, of Acme and Doll Ulery and husband, Jerry, of Normalville; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Merill McFadden and wife, Mary, of Scottdale and Melvin McFadden and wife, Diane, of Pennsville; and five sisters, Roberta Ritenour of Pittsburgh, Marge Hardy and husband, William, of Dunbar, Martha Stoner and husband, Earl, of Connellsville, Patty Geary and husband, Jim, of Ohio, and Sandy McWilliams and husband, Robert, of Pennsville. HERMAN A. HARTMAN
Herman A. Hartman, 78, of Volant, died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, in United Community Hospital, Pine Township. He was born Sept. 2, 1921, in West View, the son of the late Herman J. and Matilda Schwarz Hartman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois C. Dehring Hartman. He is survived by a son, Gary Hartman of Volant; three sisters, Tillie (Ray) Iwrin, Betty (Edward) Lange, and Naomi Hartman; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Three Rivers Detachment, and was a veteran of World War II in the Marine Corps. He retired as a self-employed antiques restorer in Wexford. Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mercer. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Warrendale. Arrangements by the CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME INC., Mercer.
SISTER RITA MARIE SKELLY
Sister Rita Marie Skelly, 96, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, in Villa St. Joseph, Baden, in her 72nd year as a Sister of St. Joseph. Sister Rita Marie, a daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Skelly, entered the Congregation in 1928 from Sacred Heart Parish in Conemaugh, Pa. Sister was an elementary teacher in Pittsburgh, Johnstown/Altoona, and Greensburg Dioceses from 1929 to 1970. Her last teaching assignment was at St. Patrick School in Johnstown from 1966 to 1970. After coming to the Motherhouse in 1970, Sister Rita Marie served in the clerical and duplicating departments. Sister is survived by two sisters, Geraldine Spangler and Jane Leahey of Johnstown; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse in Baden from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Sisters of St. Joseph Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sisters' Cemetery on the Motherhouse grounds. Theodore Ernest Baer Sr., 70, of Sarver, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999. He was retired from Gulf Research in Harmarville. Husband of 45 years to Dorothy English Baer. Father of Mark Baer of Randolph, Ohio, Theodore Baer Jr. of Akron, Ohio, and Cynthia Baer of Centerville, Ohio. Brother of John Baer of Bellview, Fla., and Evaline Swartzlander of Sarver. E. Clarence McQuaide, 87, of Apollo (Washington Township), died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1912, in Washington Township, a son of the late E. Guy and Mabel Hill McQuaide. He was a member of the Poke Run Presbyterian Church, Washington Township. Prior to his retirement, he was self-employed as a farmer and also worked as a craneman at Armitage & Co., Delmont. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna M. Thompson McQuaide, in 1980; and by two sisters, Ina Nichols and Gertrude Stuck. He is survived by four children, Shirley Elwood and her husband, Eugene "Skip, " of Washington Township, Louise Frye and her husband, Howard, of Ligonier RD5, Ilene Frye and her husband, Roger, of Blairsville RD3, and C. Eugene McQuaide of Delmont; a brother, Kenneth R. McQuaide, of Ruffsdale RD3; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. McQuaide's family will receive friends at the JOHN L.
