Marvin Cain, 64, of Clinton died Friday, Nov. 3, in the Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Beaver Township, after an extended illness.
He was born on July 18, 1936 in Clinton, a son of the late Carl and Helen Cain.
Mr. Cain was a retired laborer in the construction industry,
Surviving are his wife, Marlene (Daugherty) Cain; his children, Carl Cain of Harrisburg, Clint Cain of Dayton, Ohio, Debra Wilson, Imperial; and Karen Cain of Clinton; a brother, Roy Cain of Clinton; four sisters, Grace Perri of Hookstown, Ruth Lombardo of Florida; Mary Cain of Imperial, and Nancy Wiedner of Virginia; and four grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were three sisters, Lois Starr, Gladys Junker and Melba Cox.
Visitation was held at Moody Funeral Home in Clinton, where services were held with the Rev. Ted Chapman of the Clinton Weslyan Church. Internment followed in the Clinton United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Lorraine (Sis) Creese, 82, formerly of Coraopolis, died Nov. 2, 2000 in Valley Care Masonic Home in Aleppo Township.
She was born on April 8, 1918 in McKeesport, Pa. a daughter of the late Michael and Evelyn (Dunlap) Egenlauf.
A resident of Edgeworth, Mrs. Creese was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Coraopolis and formerly of Mt. Calvary United Presbyterian Church.
She worked for Joe Workman's Store on Mill Street in Coraopolis and also at the Dollar Store.
Surviving are her three children, James Creese of Edgeworth, Marlene Moisey of Edgeworth, and George Creese of Conway; one sister, Rose Nogay of Coraopolis; two brothers, Louis Egenlauf of Indiana and Charles Egenlauf of Edgeworth; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Creese; two sisters, Evelyn Heid and Jacqueline Egenlauf; and one brother, William Egenlauf.
Visitation was held at Copeland's Coraopolis Funeral Home, 867 Fifth Ave., where services were held with the Rev. John Free.

William Deichler, 51, of Moon Township and a life-long resident of Coraopolis, died Oct. 28, 2000 in Montifore Hospital.
He was born Feb. 1, 1949 in Sewickley to the late William F. Sr. and Ida (Currielli) Deichler.
Mr. Deichler was retired from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette newspaper. He is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Art Institute with an associate's degree in graphic arts.
Surviving are his loving wife, the former Mary (Clayton) Deichler of Moon Township; his children, Todd and his wife Amy of Imperial, Jennifer and her husband Craig Schoeneweis of Carnegie, Heather of Aliquippa and her fiance William Welsh; one brother, Peter and his wife Geraldine Deichler of San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren-Jacob, Amanda, Phoebe, Billy and Sevin.
Visitation was held at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, 867 Fifth Ave., Coraopolis where services were held with the Rev. Clint Elliot officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Joseph Herbert, 80, a life-long resident of Moon Township, died Saturday, Nov. 4, in Allegheny General Hospital.
He was born April 2, 1920 in Crucible, Pa. a son of the late Martin and Catherine (Heiselman) Herbert.
Mr. Herbert was retired from Calgon Corp., where he served as plant manager for 42 years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church, where he was an usher, and a member of the 55 Plus Group.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Helen (Backer) Herbert; four children, Charles and his wife, Pam Herbert, of Moon, Christine and her husband Gerald Rossi, San Diego, Calif., Cathryn and her husband Robert Zapko of McDonald, Pa, Cynthia and her husband, John Ball of Coraopolis; three sisters, Mary Bucek of McKees Rocks, Theresa Medoff of Arizona, and Barbara DiNardo of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Tobias Herbert of Florida, and Martin Herbert of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Herbert.
Visitation was held at Copeland's Moon Township Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Road. Mass was held in St. Margaret Mary Church, with the Rev. John Ayoob. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.

Richard Marton, 72, a 20-year resident of Sewickley, died Oct. 28, in Valley Care Nursing Home.
He was born on Nov. 11, 1927 in Pittsburgh.
He was the director of purchasing for Shenango, Inc., Neville Island.
He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the Masonic Guyasuta Lodge, # 513.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa (Loury) Marton; sister, Ruby Jessep, Pittsburgh; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are a sister, Dorothy Yule, and a brother, Lawrence Marton.
Visitation was held at Anthony J. Sanvito Funeral Home, Coraopolis, where services were held with the Rev. Jack McKinsey. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.

Al (Funzy) Santacroce, a life-long resident of Moon Township, died Oct. 25, 2000 in his home.
He was born in Coraopolis to the late Mary and Domenick Santacroce.
He was a contractor/painter and a member of St. Margaret Mary Church.
He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the VFW of Coraopolis and American Legion of Sewickley.
Surviving are his wife, Stella (Deczkowski) Santacroce; children, Tom and his wife, Barbara, Moon Township, Patricia Bajek and her husband, Paul of Sewickley, and Richard and his wife, Beth, of Hopewell; sisters, Jenny Yanessa of Elmira, N.Y., Eleanor Martinkovich of Coraopolis, and Mary Lou Paul of Coraopolis; brother, Victor Santacroce, Coraopolis; grandchildren, Michele Sanvito, Kristy and Lori Santacroce, Jason, Matthew and Brandon Bajek and Meghan Taylor; and great-granddaughter, Alivia Rose Sanvito.
Preceding him in death is a brother, William (Willie) Santacroce.
Anthony J. Sanvito Funeral Home made funeral arrangement. Services were held at St. Margaret Mary Church with the Rev. Ayoob.
Burial was in Coraopolis Cemetery. Memorial gifts as Mass cards or to Make a Wish Foundation.

Richard Varsanik, 54, a resident of Moon Township for 26 years, died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 30, 2000.
Mrs. Varsanik was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Coraopolis. He was retired from NALCO Chemical Corp., formerly known as Calgon Corp.
He was a graduate of University of Bridgeport, where he received his bachelor's degree in chemistry, and a graduate of Georgia Tech University, where he received his doctorate degree in physical chemistry. He received many awards and patents in water management chemistry.
One of the projects, Calgard, was so ahead of its time that it is still relevant after 24 years and has been recently incorporated into water treatment software. Mr. Varsanik was interested in his family and friends, technology, tools, home repair and making everything better.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie (Shuster) Varsanik of Moon Township; his mother, Helen (Kross) of Shelton, Conn.; two children, Rachel and Jonathan Varsanik, both of Moon Township; and one brother, Robert Varsanik, of Chester, Conn.
Friends were received at Copeland's Moon Township Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Road. Mass was held at St. Joseph's Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Excellence in Education Scholarship Fund, Moon Area Schools.

Ruth Dewey, 80, a Moon Township resident since 1965, died Oct. 22, 2000 in Mariner Health Care Center of West Hills, Moon.
She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on Dec. 30, 1919, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jung.
Mrs. Dewey was a retired secretary from Airco Welding Products, Leetsdale, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Dewey.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Richard and Nancy Dewey of Moon Township, and by a granddaughter, Holly Dewey of Moon.
Visitation was held at Copeland's Moon Township Funeral and in Carlton A. Ullrich Funeral Home in Tonawanda, N.Y., where services were held.
Burial followed in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Tonawanda, N.Y.

Ann Edwards, 41, a life-long resident of Coraopolis, died Oct. 30, 2000 in West Penn Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 19, 1959 in Sewickley to the late Fred and Florence (McBride) Edwards.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she was a senior choir member and of Sybil Dickerson Missionary of Coraopolis. She also was an usher at Mt. Olive Church and member of several other choirs.
Surviving are her sisters, Betty Edwards Harrien of Cleveland, Ohio; Matti Edwards, Washington, D.C.; Lula Edwards Greene, Atlanta, Ga.; Anita Edwards Sanders of Charlotte, N.C.; Rosalind Edwards, Washington, D.C.; and Loretta Edwards of Coraopolis.
Also surviving are her brothers, Fred Edwards, Cleveland, Ohio, and Willie Edwards of Coraopolis, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, 867 Fifth Ave., Coraopolis. Funeral services were held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, with the Rev. Winston Ridley officiating. Burial was in Sewickley Cemetery.

Louis Spera, 76, a 53-year resident of Robinson Township, died Oct. 17, 2000 in Sewickley Valley Hospital.
He was born Dec. 11, 1923 in Pittsburgh.
The World War II Navy veteran was a retired chemical analyst for US Chemical, where he worked for 39 years.
He was involved in the AARP, ISDA, and was past president of St. Joseph Parish Council.
He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis of Assissi Council 2555, where he was a third degree knight; of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Denis Baron Council, Crafton, where he was past grand knight and fourth degree knight; and of the festival committee at St. Joseph Church.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Marcocci) Spera; his children, Sister Grace Marie, CSSF, of Moon Township; Carl Spera of Kennedy Township, and Michael Anthony Spera and his wife Lisa of Leesburg, Va.; and his grandchildren, Michael, Katie and Nicholas.
Anthony Sanvito Inc. Funeral Home, Coraopolis, made arrangements.
Services were held at St. Joseph Church, Coraopolis, with the Rev. Malcolm McDonald officiating.
Burial followed at Resurrection Cemetery.
