O. Lucille Kalp, 78, of Melcroft, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, in the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. She was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Jones Mills, a daughter of the late Alva and Mazie Douglas Ritenour. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and its Ladies Bible Class. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Walter Kalp; a grandson, Keith Kalp; and a sister, Virginia Aultman. She is survived by her children, Virginia May and her husband, Laird, of Mill Run, Helen Winters of Somerset, Robert Kalp and his wife, Ruth, of Donegal, Dale Kalp and his wife, Joanne, of Greensburg and Ethel Monticue and her husband, Valjean, of Greensburg; a brother, Donald Ritenour of Somerset; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Friends will be received in the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 711, Melcroft, Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Paul C. Freidhof officiating. Interment will follow in the Donegal Cemetery.

Sylvia S. (Paczkowski) Schaefer, 71, of Polish Hill, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000. Beloved mother of Deborah Bocsy and husband, Thomas, of Pleasant Hills and Sandra Laux and husband, Timothy, of North Hills. Grandmother of Rebecca and Christopher Bocsy and Matthew and Andrew Beran. Sister of Esther James of Green Tree. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many cousins. Friends will be received at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 3201 Dobson St., Polish Hill, Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Polish Hill, with the Rev. PAUL YANCICH
Paul Yancich, 72, of Richeyville, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, in his home. He was born April 11, 1927, in Brownsville, a son of the late Joseph and Mildred Sladovich Yancich. Mr. Yancich was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union #354, from which he retired in 1992. He was also a member of the Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post #705 of Centerville, Beallsville Lodge #237 F&AM, Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and the Consistory of Pittsburgh and also the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church of Masontown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. Mr. Yancich was an avid golfer. On June 28, 1952, he married Irene Betsko, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Paul "Chip" Yancich Jr. and Tom Yancich, both of Washington, Pa.; two daughters, Larraine Damich of Rostraver and Lynne Yancich of Pittsburgh; and five grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Matt, Scott and Brianna Damich, Jamie and Michael Yancich. He was preceded in death by eight brothers, John, Pete, Michael, Emil, Steve, Nick, Joseph and Louis Yancich; and five sisters, Mildred Borovich, Lucille Miller, Mary Jurcic, Ann Burton and Betty Koscho. Mr. Yancich was the last member of his immediate family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday in the GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, Route 40, Beallsville, where a prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a 12 p.m. funeral service at the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Masontown with the Rev. Rodney Torbic officiating. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday by Beallsville Lodge #237 and a Pomen will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday by the Rev. Rodney Torbic.

Lois G. (McIntyre) Dearman, 82, of Sharpsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000. Wife of the late Irvin "Babe" Dearman. Beloved mother of Donna Handrahan, Kathleen Flavin and Sandra Busalacchi; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the WORRELL FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and Ninth streets, Sharpsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Sharpsburg.
GUY J. ELDA
Guy J. Elda, 86, of Crabtree, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in Jeannette District Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 26, 1913, in Crabtree, a son of the late Suriano and Cecelia Stanelo Elda. He retired in 1975 from Consolidated Coal Co., Renton Mine, with a total of 46 years as a mechanic at the Renton Mine, Jamason Coal and Hunker Mine. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, where he was an usher; he was also a member of the Crabtree VFD, Hannastown Firemen's Club, the former Crabtree Italian Club, Old Crabtree Sportsman's Club, and a lifetime member of the Moose. He loved fishing at Twin Lakes and Keystone State Park, and was noted for his homemade wine in his younger days. Guy fancied himself as somewhat of a cook and his homemade sausage was excellent. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Phillip Bell; and a sister, Anna Elias. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mofalda Marcelli Elda; four children, Cecelia Ungvarsky and husband, John, Janet Karas and husband, Richard, and James Kieran Elda, all of Greensburg, Mary Ann Ritchie and husband, Michael, of Malvern, Pa.; four grandchildren, Michael Ungvarsky, Lauren Elda, and Catherine and Connor Ritchie; three half brothers, Raymond Bell and wife, Julia, of Latrobe, Orlando "Lundy" Bell and wife, Frances, of Greensburg, and Mario Bell and wife, Vera, of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends will be received at the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME, 409 W. Augustine Flood, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to be made to the Crabtree VFD or Jeannette Hospital Foundation. Mary A. (Stankiewicz) Krufka, 92, formerly of Greenock and Carnegie, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, in Canonsburg General Hospital, North Strabane Township. She was born Feb. 2, 1907, in London, England, a daughter of the late Peter and Frances Stankiewicz. She was a former member of St. Luke's Church, Carnegie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Krufka, and her son, Carl Krufka. She is survived by three nephews, Joseph Duda of Mt. Pleasant, Frank Duda of Cleveland, Ohio, and Walter Duda of Beaumont, Texas; and two great-nieces, Carol S. Fassinger of Elizabeth and Patricia A. Wall of Bethel Park. Marybeth Gleason-Diven, 48, of Uniontown, died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Born March 6, 1951, in Uniontown, a daughter of Earl Gleason of Uniontown and the late Mary Louise Clifford Gleason. Surviving are her father, Earl Gleason; her children, Michael B. Diven and Jonathan P. Diven, both of Pittsburgh, and Caitlin Maureen Diven at home; sisters, Cathleen B. Gleason of Uniontown and Ann Louise Hassan and husband, William, of Pittsburgh; a brother, Robert C. Gleason of Uniontown; her fiance, William McHugh of Uniontown; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; and her first husband, Gary Diven of Pittsburgh. Rose Marie Katonka Antal, 77, of American House, Lebanon, Pa., died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was born Dec. 31, 1922, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Henry and Victoria (Stefanik) Katonka. She was a retired factory worker and was Protestant by faith. Survived by a son, Joseph Antal of Lebanon; a grandchild, Corey Antal of Lebanon; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Antal and Joshua Antal. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Larry Antal, on Dec. 8, 1996; a sister, Mary Magdeline Elizabeth Katonka, in 1971; and a brother, Joseph Katonka, who died in Rome during World War II. Esther (Zeolla) DeMichele, 78, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Highlands Center, Brackenridge. She was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Kittanning, a daughter of the late Pietro and Mary Cornacione Zeolla. She was a member of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Natrona Heights, and of its Ladies Guild. Mrs. DeMichele enjoyed playing cards with numerous card clubs in the area. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Albert J. DeMichele of Brackenridge; her loving children, Donna J. DeMichele Edwards of Brackenridge, Albert Joseph DeMichele Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Penn, and Richard Alan DeMichele and his wife, Teri, of New Kensington; 11 grandchildren, Paul Edwards, Shelly Witkorek, Sharon Woodmansee, Christian Widmer, Edward, Matthew, Joshua, and Lori DeMichele, and Kristopher, Keli and Kim Trettel; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Zeolla and her husband, Angelo, of Kittanning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou Widmer, in 1986; a grandson, Gregory Widmer, in 1988, and a sister, Ann L. Fair.
