Ruth Christine Boerner Sulkin, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center, Little Rock, Ark., after a lengthy illness. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Sylvan, and survived by her children, Robert D. of Bethel Park, Linda R. Elliott and son-in-law Robert L. Elliott of Little Rock, Ark.; granddaughters, Lynne Christine Bacon of Little Rock, Ark., and Alexa Lee Domeck of Arlington, Va.; and great-grandson, Joseph Anthony Bacon Jr. Memorial services will be held in the Chapel at Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Road, Bethel Park, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1. Private graveside services will be conducted at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 6041 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112. TONY R. YANITY
Tony R. Yanity, 85, of Homer City, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, in Homer City. A son of Michael Angelo and Rose (Morrone) Yanity, he was born Sept. 7, 1914, in Homer City. Mr. Yanity was of the Catholic faith. He was self-employed with the Mears and Yanity Coal Co. During World War II, he served as a U.S. Army medic. He was a lifetime member of the Indiana VFW Post 1989, a member of the Homer City American Legion Post 493, and the Graceton-Coral Sportsman's Club. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann (Wincek) Yanity of Homer City; two daughters, Tonitti Adamson and husband, Richard, of Homer City and Tracey Soverns and husband, Dave, of New Market, Md.; three grandchildren, Nathan Adamson of Homer City, and Chuck and Gina Soverns of New Market, Md.; and three sisters, Carolyn "Cookie" Boyd and Kathleen "Kas" Yanity, both of Indiana, and Mrs. Wendell (Donna Jean) Edwards of Pilot Point, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rose and Angeline; and brothers, Rocco, Dominick, Casmer "Coke" and Dominick. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the BENCE-MIHALCIK FUNERAL HOME, 965 Philadelphia St., Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 1 p.m. in St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church. Interment with military rites will follow in the church Cemetery. Elizabeth Britner Berkley, 83, of Munhall, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000. She was head of the alterations department of Linton's of Squirrel Hill. She was a member of the Anne Ashley United Methodist Church. Wife of the late Lloyd N. Berkley Jr. Mother of Margie Campbell of Munhall, Daniel A. Berkley of Greensburg and the late Lloyd Berkley III. Cousin of Katharine Liguori. Also grandchildren. JOHN E. MATHIAS
John E. Mathias, 73, of Connellsville, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born April 6, 1926, in Edenborn, Pa., a son of the late Harry W. Mathias, who died in 1979, and the late Louise G. Donkers Mathias, who died in 1993. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a senior sales representative for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company where he worked from 1952-1988. He was a graduate of the former North Union High School in 1944 and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh in 1950. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Middle East. He was a member of the Metropolitan Veterans Association and a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Connellsville. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Donald Mathias. He is survived by his wife, Theresa E. Kiliany Mathias; two daughters, Janet M. Haag and her husband, John E., of Newtown, Pa., and Diane E. Nowicki and her husband, Thomas P., of Scottdale; a son, John E. Mathias Jr. and his wife, Teri, of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Rachel and Nathan Haag, Katelyn Mathias and Taylor and Grace Nowicki; and two sisters, Ruth Oris and Mary Louise Wallace and her husband, O.E., both of Mt. Pleasant. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Connellsville, with the Rev. Louis Cheatham as celebrant. Interment will follow.

George W. Burke, 61, of Monroeville, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at home. He was born April 26, 1938, in North Huntingdon, a son of the late Joseph E. and Sara Mae Emory Burke. He was a retired employee of Dresser Manufacturing, Bradford, Pa. He is survived by two sons, Sean P. Burke and Greg S. Burke; a grandson, Connor Burke; a sister, Debra Hayes; and three brothers, James E., Joseph E. and Michael T. Burke. There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, with the Rev. R. Bruce Maxwell officiating. Arrangements by the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, Irwin.
AUDREY JEAN NOGY
Audrey Jean Nogy, 68, of North Belle Vernon, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at her home. Born April 11, 1931, in North Belle Vernon, she was a daughter of Rose DeRosa Spanish Forsythe of Belle Vernon and the late Albert J. Spanish. Mrs. Nogy was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon and a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. She was a former school crossing guard in North Belle Vernon at Graham and Fayette streets, a member of the Anita Garibaldi Society of Belle Vernon and a social member of the Belle Vernon American Legion. In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Martin Nogy, Roger and Deanne Nogy, and Mark and Barbara Nogy, all of Belle Vernon; a brother, Frank Spanish of Apache Junction, Ariz.; two sisters, Gilda Gladys of Belle Vernon and Norma and John Gillo of Lynnwood; six grandchildren, Kathy, Brian, Jason, Alan, Brittany and Stephanie Nogy; and a stepgrandson, Sean Panek. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Martin "Streamline" Nogy, on Sept. 13, 1985; a son, Richard Nogy, on Jan. 21, 1951; and a daughter, Rose Ann Nogy, on Aug. 3, 1962. Visitation will be held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon. Prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Audrey Jean Nogy to the Cancer Clinic at Mon Valley Hospital or the Albert Gallatin Hospice.

William Victor Richter, 85, of Mt. Oliver, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000. He was a professional painter who painted houses, and a sergeant in the Army during World War II. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Richter; and father of William Richter of Ohio. Friends received at the STEPHEN D. Stella M. DiOrio Tatarko, 86, of Salemville, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, in the Edgewood Nursing Center, Youngstown, Pa. She was born May 26, 1913, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Luigi and Josephina Palladino DiOrio. She was a housewife, and a member of St. James Catholic Church of New Alexandria. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Stephen W. Tatarko, in 1991; four brothers, Frank, Charles, Anthony and August; and two sisters, Mary and Violet. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Tatarko Patrick of Latrobe; two grandchildren, Melinda and husband, John J. McMahon, of Export and Christopher Patrick and wife, Susan, of Latrobe; and a sister, Dora Brasili of Crabtree. Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets, New Alexandria.
