Joseph "Bob" Blazevich, 75, of Wall, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000. A son of the late Pane and Violet (Stanovich) Blazevich. Beloved husband of 50 years of Eleanor (Puljack) Blazevich. Dear father of Robert J. (Diana) and James P. (Lisa) Blazevich. Grandfather of the Rev. Clinton (Brandy), Christian (Kelly), Davis, Parker, and Jeb Blazevich. Twin brother of George Blazevich. Brother of Kathryn and Paul Blazevich, Mary Novakovich, Joanne Dilucente, Nada Bianci, and the late John Blazevich and Mildred Jurick. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding, Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Christian Life Church, Seventh Street Ext. and Forbes Road, Trafford. Mr. Blazevich was a retired lieutenant from the Allegheny County sheriff's office. He was a member of the Wilmerding Lions Club. He was the president of the Wall Borough Council and a former Democratic chairperson. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. Gladys M. Harper, 80, of Monroeville, on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000. Daughter of the late William and Blanche (Emmerick) Harper. Sister of Shirley H. Harper, Emory C. "Shorty" Harper, and Don E. Harper, all of Monroeville, and the late Thomas Earl and J. William Harper. Also many nieces and nephews. MARGARET WEDEL MINYON
Margaret Wedel Minyon, 77, of Belle Vernon, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, while visiting her daughter, Linda Gilmer, in Kathleen, Ga. Born in McKeesport, Feb. 12, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Marie Walsh Wedel. She was a homemaker and had lived in Pennsylvania most of her life. She is survived by her husband, Pat C. Minyon; two daughters, Linda M. Gilmer of Kathleen, Ga., and Patricia Fonas of North Versailles; a sister, Teresa Roma of McKeesport; two brothers, Jack Wedel and Fred Wedel, both of McKeesport; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. VERNA MAE SMITH
Verna Mae Smith, 100, of Tiffin, Ohio, formerly of Wilmerding, died Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 9, 2000, in Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin, where she lived for the past 10 years. She was born Aug. 20, 1899, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Louis and Susanne (Speigler) Stormer. She was a former member of the Methodist Church in Wilmerding. On Aug. 11, 1920, she married William C. Smith, who preceded her in death in 1975. She was also predeceased by a son, Glenndon Smith. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Charles D. (Dorothy J.) Thomas of Tiffin, Ohio; a son, Robert E. Smith of Irwin; 14 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville, with the Rev. John Simpson officiating. Interment in Restland Memorial Park. Pearl M. Broskey, 85, of Millvale, on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000. Beloved wife of the late Henry J. Broskey. Mother of Gregory and Debbie Broskey, Sharon and Ray Bourdage, Michael and Cheryl Broskey and the late Pamela Broskey. Sister of Elsie Miller, Florence Orga and the late Dorothy Andrews. CATHERINE A. (CARROLL) MCCULLOUGH
In God's Providence, Catherine A. (Carroll) Mccullough, entered into eternal life, Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, in her 90th year of life. She was born Jan. 25, 1910, in Ireland, a daughter of the late Edward Thomas and Margaret (McCarthy) Carroll. In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, John Patrick Mccullough, in 1985; the following brothers: John, Michael, Patrick, Edward, Thomas, Lawrence, and Nicholas Carroll; and a sister, Bridget Carroll. Catherine immigrated to this country more than 75 years ago. She worked for several years as a governess in New York City. She was a highly spirited member of the United Irish Counties, a benefactor to the Annie Moore Project and a sponsor of the Peace Program in the North of Ireland. She was proud of her citizenship in the United States and did much to bring members of her family to the United States. Catherine is survived by her daughter, Eileen Mccullough Janowski and her husband, George, of Boynton Beach, Fla., as well as her son, the Rev. Father J. Edward Mccullough of St. Aloysius Parish in Dunbar. Mrs. Mccullough made her home for many years with her son and enjoyed the affection and warmth of the good parishioners served by Father Mccullough. She is also survived by the following brothers: Dominick Carroll of New York, James Carroll of Ireland, and Kevin Carroll of England; and a sister, Mary Finn of Ireland. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in the United States, Ireland, England, and Europe. Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday at the St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Dunbar, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m., when a vigil service will be held. A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. in the St. Aloysius Church, Dunbar. Entombment will be private in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Aloysius Memorial Fund.
DONALD A. PENROSE
Donald A. Penrose, 59, of Olympia, Wash., formerly of East McKeesport, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, in Olympia, Wash., of multiple myeloma. He was born Oct. 18, 1940, to the late John and Lena Penrose. Mr. Penrose served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1966 and was a Vietnam veteran. He was in the first graduating class at the University of Washington Medex/P.A. Program. He was a licensed Physicians Assistant with 24 years of service for the state of Washington as a Medical Practice Investigator. He was a member of the Association of Physicians Assistant's Elks Lodge #186 of Olympia. Mr. Penrose was a skilled craftsman spending many hours in his woodshop and enjoyed traveling and sports. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cathie Bounds-Penrose, formerly of Tacoma, Wash.; daughters, Katie Cole, Kristin Vchulek and Kara Penrose, all of Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Joyce Johnston of Kissimmee, Fla., and Judith Folwarczny of Mt. Pleasant, Pa.; five grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews. A celebration of life was held Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Olympia, Wash. Service was conducted by friend, retired Rev. Orville Jacobson of Longview, Wash. Thomas Albert (Gregoritch) Gregg, 83, of Scott Township, on Friday, Feb. 11, 2000. Beloved husband of Frances Spero Gregg for 51 years. Loving father of Kevin Gregg of Scott Township, Pam Ruffing of West Mifflin, Kim McGinley of West Mifflin, Jeff Gregg of Overbrook, Michael Gregg of Gaithersburg, Md., Dana Stumpf of Washington, Pa., and Chris Gregg of Shadyside. Grandfather of Shannon McGinley, Rebecca Gregg, Patrick McGinley, Jessica Ruffing, Matthew Ruffing, Samantha Stumpf and Joshua Stumpf. Also survived by his sister, Vera Buchko of Arlington, Va., and his brother, George Gregoritch of Coraopolis. Mr. Gregg was a World War II veteran serving in the Civilian Conservation Corps and the U.S. Navy Seabees in Tulagi, Solomon Islands. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 41 years.
