George Nama, 88, of West Mifflin, on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001. Mr. Nama was a retired employee of Mesta Machine Co. and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Husband of the late Anna Thomas Nama. Father of George A. Nama of New York and the late Donald E. Nama. Also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Madeline M. Pascasio, 89, on Monday, Oct. 8, 2001. Daughter of the late Anthony and Filomena (Di Pippa) Pascasio. Sister of Lucy and Anne Pascasio, and the late Rosemarie McDaniel, Catherine Miller, Anthony Pascasio Jr. and Edgar Pascasio. Also survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Mary Tom Pascasio. Loving aunt of Anthony and Gloria Pascasio, Judy Pascasio Cain, Jim and Trish Pascasio, Regis and Jeannie Miller, Kathleen Miller, Richard and Carole Miller, Bob and Vicki Pascasio, Ed and Jarita Pascasio and Janet Pascasio. Also survived by 17 great-nieces and -nephews, and 11 great-great-nieces and -nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Madeline was a graduate of Frick Teachers Training School and the University of Pittsburgh. She had both a masters of arts and doctorate of education from the University of Pittsburgh. She was with the Pittsburgh Public Schools from 1934 to 1972. Madeline taught at Hays School for one year and then at Banksville School. She was vice principal at Prospect School and principal at Forbes School and then Sunnyside School. She ended her career as director of education, responsible for curriculum and instruction from kindergarten through 12th grade, in Area II of the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Madeline was a member of Phi Delta Gamma, AAUW, Pi Lambda Theta, Delta Kappa Gamma and the College Club of Pittsburgh. She was a member of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister until August of this year. Friends may call at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, INC., 222 Washington Road, Mt. Foster R. Rizzuto

Foster R. Rizzuto, 83, of Blairsville, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, in Edgewood Nursing Home, Latrobe. He was born Sept. 14, 1918, in Monessen, a son of the late Frank and Spinetta (Donette) Rizzuto. Mr. Rizzuto was an accomplished musician, having played saxophone and clarinet with many area bands, including the Greensburg Seniors Band. He attended St. Vincent College, where he was band master at the prep school. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the 116th Infantry Band and ETO Headquarters Band. He had worked for Blairsville National Bank and Homer City State Bank. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Rizzuto. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Charlton) Rizzuto of Blairsville; a daughter, Patricia Smith and husband Herman of Pittsburgh; a son, Robert Rizzuto of Pittsburgh; two grandsons, Jarrett and Benjamin Smith of Pittsburgh; a sister, Lola Vordenberg of Cincinatti, Ohio; and a brother, Frank Rizzuto of Monessen. Visitation Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JAMES F. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, Blairsville, where a funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. John Barker officiating. Interment to follow in Blairsville Cemetery. He was the beloved husband of Arlene Scott; father of Kathy Klein of Glenshaw, Kim (Mick) Capriani of State College, Pa., and Charles (Fran) Sachs of Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; brother of Sis Theis of McKeesport, Carmen Sachs of Penn Hills and Morry Sachs of Pittsburgh; grandfather of Chuck Sachs, Autumn Klein and Matthew and Kelli Sachs. Anna Schmidt, age 88, on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, in UPMC Passavant.
She was born July 7, 1913, in Arona Boro, Westmoreland County, the daughter of the late John Gruno and Anna Kostraba.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph W. Devlin and Frank Schmidt; two sisters, Mary Klein and Linda Rosner; and two brothers, John and Michael Gruno.
Survivors include her beloved son, Joseph W. Devlin Jr. of New Sewickley; two sisters, Dolores Jenkins and Helen Schuler, both of Moon Twp.; also two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
