Obituaries by Location

Dorothy H. Robinson, formerly of Sewickley and Glen Osborne, died Sept. 25, 2000, in Belleair Beach, Fla., at the age of 92.
She was born Dorothy Halliwell in Carnegie and was brought up in Wheeling, W.Va.
She attended West Virginia University. She married Earl C. Davis and lived in Moon Township.
From 1949 to 1961, she was secretary to the late Clifford Nichols, headmaster of the Sewickley Academy. She attended evening classes at The University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University, earning a degree in elementary education, and from 1962 until her retirement in 1972, taught first grade at the academy.
She and William A. Robinson were married in May of 1971, and until his death in 1996, the couple lived on Beaver Road in Glen Osborne.
Dorothy leaves two sons, William C. Davis of Belleair Beach, Fla., and Earl C. Davis, Jr.. of Sherborn, Mass.; two daughters, Joanne Kohler of Mt. Lebanon and Judith C. Davis of Sherborn, Mass.;10 grand children; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Warrendale at 10 a.m. on Monday Oct. 30.
Interment will be at Sewickley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, gifts to the Alzheimer's Association will be appreciated.

Lillian Marie (Boots) Tappe Stoeckle, 69, of Leet Township, died Oct. 12, 2000, at Sherwood Oaks.
She was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Pittsburgh to the late Edward and Lillian Lyons Tappe.
Ms. Stoeckle was a teachers aid at Quaker Valley School District.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Stoeckle, and six children: Mark Stoeckle of Boston; Michael Stoeckle of Tampa, Fla.; Kathie Gautille of Dallas; Eileen Bastidas of Sewickley; Craig Stoeckle of New Bradfort, Conn.; and Brian Stoeckle of Denver.
She is also survived by one brother, Richard Tappe, and sister, Peggy Antal, both of Pittsburgh, and 15 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. James Catholic Church.
Interment followed in St. James Catholic Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Msgr. Must Scholarship Fund.
Arrangements were made by Richard. D. Cole Funeral Home, 328 Beaver St., Sewickley.

Patsy Vescio Jr., age 59, a life-long resident of Moon Township., died suddenly on Tuesday, Oct. 10, in Sewickley Valley Hospital.
He was born in Sewickley on Nov. 29, 1940.
Mr. Vescio was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church.
He was employed for 12 years with Michael Baker Inc. as an electrical engineer.
Mr. Vescio designed the lighting for both the Pittsburgh and Dulles International airports, as well as oversaw the installations.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia (Paladina) Vescio; mother, Mary Vescio of Sewickley; loving children: Stephen P. Vescio and wife Jennifer of Fairhaven, Mass.; Michael J. Vescio and fiancee Lisa of Moon Township; Matthew Paladina of Moon Township; sister, Mary Jane Ferrer of Ambridge; and three brothers, Frank J. Vescio of Center township, Louis O Vescio of Virginia Beach, Va., and William Vescio of Sewickley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Patsy Vescio, Sr. and his brother Robert Vescio.
Visitation was held at Copeland's -Moon Township, 981 Broadhead Road.
Funeral Mass was held in St. Margaret Mary Church with father John Ayoob officiating.
Burial followed in St. James Cemetery, Sewickley.

Willets Boyd died in Sewickley Valley Hospital on Nov. 21, 2000, after a short illness.
Born in Sewickley, she attended Sewickley Academy, Miss Porter's School, the University of Florence and Columbia University.
During World War II, she served as a civilian overseas with the Office of Strategic Services (OSS).
On her return from the war, she lived in New York as a writer. Two of her books -"Never Give the Heart" and "Sting of Glory" - were published by Random House.
In 1954, she married William Boyd Jr., and they returned to Pittsburgh where he served as senior vice president of Pittsburgh National Bank. They lived in Sewickley and Florence, Italy, where they purchased and remodeled a 15th century farmhouse.
Mrs. Boyd was a member of the Women's Committee of The Carnegie Institute, the Advisory Committee of the Pittsburgh Symphony Association, the Board of Trustees of the Pressley Ridge Schools, the Garden Club of Allegheny County, the Allegheny Country Club and The Presbyterian Church of Sewickley.
She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Spencer Boyd, of Chester, Conn.; and her granddaughter, Beatrice Boyd Bradley.
Funeral services were private with burial in Belmont, N.Y.
Memorials may be made to the Women's Committee, The Carnegie Institute, 4400 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213

A memorial service for Barbara Reipe Donner will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at Christ Church at Grove Farm, 249 Duff Road, Ohio Township.
Mrs. Donner, age 75, a Sewickley resident since 1959, died on Nov. 21, 2000, at her home.
She was born on Feb. 17, 1925, in Centerville, Iowa, to the late Edgar and Norma (Wilson) Reipe.
She was the wife of Frederick H. Donner and the mother of John Poister of Sewickley; Diana Beeson of Athens, Ohio; and Geoffrey Poister of Lynn, Mass.
She was the proud grandmother of Julie Wieder, Jack Beeson, Ben Beeson and Sean Poister. She was the sister of Jeanne Ervin of Iowa City, Iow; and Richard Reipe of Bakersfield, Calif.
Mrs. Donner was a homemaker.
Memorial may be sent in her name to the church.
Arrangements were made by Copeland's Sewickley-Irvine Chapel.

Jeremiah M. "Jerry" Gleason, 72, of Coraopolis on Nov. 20, 2000.
Born on Jan. 6, 1928, in Chicago, he was born to the late Thomas and Nora (Dillion) Gleason.
Mr. Gleason died at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh.
He is survived by his wife Virginia (Cook) Gleason, of Coraopolis; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and her husband, Michael McHugh of Fairmont, W.Va., Virginia and her husband Ron Kunz of Coraopolis, Deborah and her husband George Beitler of Plum Boro.
He is also survived by sister Noreen Deery of Chicago; brother Thomas Gleason Jr. of Florida; and three grandsons, Jeremy & Timothy Beitler and Mike McHugh.
He lived in Coraopolis for the last 20 years. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Sewickley.
Mr. Gleason was a WWII US Navy Veteran, a member of Leetsdale VFW Post 3372 and Sewickley Moose Club.
He retired in 1994 from Hussey Cooper as a security guard after 20 years of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to McGuire Memorial Home Foundation, 2119 Mercer Road, New Brighton, PA 15006.

Paul G. Walker, of Sewickley, died on Nov. 23, 2000, at Allegheny General Hospital.
Born in Greene County on Aug. 17, 1932, to the late Don and Mary Smith Walker, he worked in Allegheny County as a mounted policeman for 28 years
Mr. Walker was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Sewickley, the Sewickley Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post #4
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Ginger) Brancato Walker; three children, Paul G. Walker Jr. and Martin J. Walker, both of South Park, and Andrew Kelly of Mt. Lebanon; one sister, Eileen Hines of Carnegie; and five grandchildren, Danielle, Maura, Corey and Martin Walker, and Ryan Kelly.
He is also survived by a nephew, Robert Kumpf, and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, William Walker.
The fraternal order of police held a service in the Richard J. Cole Funeral Home on Sunday evening.
Interment was in St. James Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society.

E. Louis Averbach
E. Louis Averbach, on Friday, Nov. 5, 1999. Beloved husband of the late Edith Stewart Averbach. Beloved father of Jane and Jim Stanton of State College, Pa., and Hope and Doug Hemperly of Pueblo, Colo. Beloved brother of Rae Ginsburg of Pittsburgh, Sarah Secher of Florida and Ann Levin of Florida. Loving grandfather of Brent Adam Heinze, Jennifer Beth Hays, Seth Stanton and Connie Stanton. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may meet at the RALPH SCHUGAR CHAPEL, 5509 Centre Ave., Shadyside, Monday at 1 p.m. and then proceed to Beth Shalom Cemetery for 2 p.m. graveside services. Contributions may be made to Edith and Louis Averbach Memorial Fund, 946 Gulf Tower, 707 Grant St., Pittsburgh, PA 15217.

Martha A. Boyko
Martha A. Boyko, 77, of Port Vue, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999. Daughter of the late Michael and Mary Fazekas Michlo, and wife of the late Joseph G. Boyko, who died Aug. 16, 1999. Mother of Janice Boyko, Audrey Podlesny and Thomas R. Boyko. Two grandchildren survive. Sister of Michael Michlo. Friends received at STRIFFLERS' OF DRAVOSBURG/WEST MIFFLIN, 740 Pittsburgh-McKeesport Blvd., Dravosburg, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, McKeesport. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue. Remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association.

Marion A. (Willis) Brush
Marion A. (Willis) Brush, 80, of Swissvale, on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999. Mother of Theresa and her husband, Emil Begg, of Wilkins Township, Roger Sr. and his wife, Mary Brush, of North Huntingdon and the late Phillip. Grandmother of George Begg, Laura Begg, Kathy Kitterman, R.T. Brush Jr. and Tina Brush Kubic. Also two great-grandchildren. Sister of Katheryne Collins, Florence Lenox, Myrtle Restly and Albert Willis. Friends will be received Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME INC., 7441 Washington Ave., Swissvale, where a blessing service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
