Grace E. Herriott Lloyd, 67, of McKeesport died Monday in Jefferson Hospital. A member of St. Paul AME Church, she served on Stewardess Board 1 and was a member of the Mass and Gospel choirs and the Nurses Guild.
Born Nov. 17, 1932, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Savage Herriott Briscoe and stepdaughter of the late Thomas Briscoe. Wife of the late Robert Earl Lloyd, she is survived by children, Valerie J. Harper of Wilkinsburg, Yvette Wright of Birmingham, Ala., Robert E. Lloyd Jr. of Pleasant Hills, Laura A. Wilson, Myrna G. Gould and Janet N. Lloyd, all of McKeesport; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Herriott and Edward Herriott of McKeesport; sisters, Sally Williams, Mary Phelts and Martha Johnson of McKeesport and Sylvia Samuels of Monroeville; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends will be received in the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, McKeesport, tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. and in St. Paul AME Church Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the church by the Rev. Bernard H. Gaiton. Interment will be in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.

VALERIAN KOCHUBA
A former Glassport resident, Valerian N. Kochuba, 59, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Monday at home. He was a retired officer in the U.S. Air Force and a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Born May 25, 1940, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Nicholas Kochuba and Steve and Helen Sorochek Kochuba. He is survived by daughters, Valerie Dexter of Burke, Va., and Francine Oliver Kochuba in Antarctica; sister, Natalie D’Amico of Glassport; brother, Stephen T. Kochuba of Glassport; nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received tomorrow from 2 to 9 p.m. in the Edmund E. Wojciechowski Jr. Funeral Home, Glassport. A blessing service will be offered there Friday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Carmen D’Amico. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, North Versailles Twp.

PEARL LANE
Pearl Eva Lane, 77, of Jefferson Hills died there today Lawson Nursing Home. She was a former sorting room clerk at the Irvin plant, U.S. Steel Corp., and member of St. Isaac Jogues Church, Elrama.
Born in Whitaker, Oct. 17, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Olga Gubus Lipp. She is survived by her husband, William B. Lane; daughter, Lucy P. McGinn of Murrysville; son, David W. Lane of Halifax; three grandchildren; and sister, Alma Bonner of Roanoke, Va.
Friends will be received in the S.M. Finney Funeral Home, West Elizabeth, tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Isaac Jogues Church by the Rev Robert Kohuch. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.

DONALD DIEHL SR.
Donald A. Diehl Sr., 66, of McKeesport died yesterday in UPMC McKeesport. A retired police lieutenant for the City of McKeesport with 22 years of service, he also served as a canine handler, past president of the Policeman’s Club of the McKeesport area, member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Camp LePew and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Born Feb. 11, 1934, in Midway, he was the son of the late William J. and Alma Weimer Diehl. He is survived by his wife, Martha Evelyn Donaldson Diehl; daughters, Donna A. Diehl of McKeesport, Cheryl A. Luce of Broken Arrow, Okla., Deborah L. Perhacs of Glassport, Tammy S. Kovacevich of White Oak and Colleen S. Diehl of McKeesport; son, Donald A. Diehl Jr. of Kenosha, Wisc.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Edith Doehre of McDonald; and brother, William J. Diehl of McKeesport.
Friends will be received tomorrow and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in Strifflers’ White Oak. Service will be conducted there Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David H. Lindberg.

KENNETH STEVENS
Kenneth Russell Stevens, 77, of Wilkins Twp., formerly of Yukon, died Sunday in AUH Forbes Regional, Monroeville. A retired foundry worker with the Paid Co., he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Born Dec. 24, 1922, in Claridge, he was the son of the late Quint and Zerma Stanard Stevens and the husband of the late Ida Mae Adams Stevens. He is survived by sons, Kevin Gully, Theodore, Terry and Timothy, Frank D. and Quint L. Stevens, all of Greensburg and Robert Stevens of Irwin; daughters, Kimberly M. Wilson of Wilkins Township and Stephanie Stevens-Murtaza of Monongahela; eight grandchildren; brothers, Jack Bostick in California state; and sister, Helen Harper of West Mifflin.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Aldrich Funeral Home, Munhall, and Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. in First Antioch Baptist Church, Greensburg. MARY MILITZER
Mary Renee (Mrs. M.) Prosser Militzer, 51, of North Huntingdon Twp. died yesterday at home. She was a teacher’s assistant at Chum Preschool in North Huntingdon Twp. and member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Irwin.
Born Sept. 27, 1948, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Mary Jane Werthman Prosser of Pittsburgh and the late Samuel Prosser. She is survived by her mother; husband, Thomas Militzer; daughter, Kari Dyer of Berwick; sons, Mark Militzer of Pittsburgh and Timothy Militzer of Akron, Ohio; three grandchildren; sisters, Jayne Danhires of Pittsburgh and Shana Seipel of Mount Lebanon; brothers, Samuel Prosser of Pittsburgh and Gery Prosser of Castle Shannon; nieces and nephews.

JOSEPH DeSUE
Joseph L. DeSue, 83, formerly of White Oak died yesterday in Cedars of Monroeville. A retired foreman at the Irvin plant, U.S. Steel Corp., he was a retired volunteer for U.S. Steel Corp., a charter member and usher at St. Angela Merici Church, White Oak, and member of its Keener Citizens and Holy Name Society, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Knight of Columbus.
Born in Newell, Oct. 28, 1916, he was the son of the late John and Mary Russo DeSue and the husband of the late Evelyn R. Gioia DeSue. He is survived by daughters, Mary Ellyn Ladick of Manor, Janet DeSue Brinkman of North Huntingdon Twp. and Phyllis Steven of Murrysville; son, David DeSue of Tallahassee, Fla.; six grandchildren; brother, Ernest DeSue of Clairton; sisters, Virginia DaBaldo of Jefferson Hills and Rose Williams of Augusta, Ga.; nieces and nephews.

Richard J. Helmstadter
Local Business Owner R.J. Helmstadter Dies
Owner and senior partner of the former Helmstadter Department Store, Richard J. Helmstadter, 94, of McKeesport died Tuesday in UPMC McKeesport. A member of First United Methodist Church and past chairman of its administrative board, he was selected as the Small Businessman of the Year in 1985 by the Mon Yough Chamber of Commerce and was inducted into the McKeesport High School Hall of Fame in 1988.
He received a bachelor of arts degree from Allegheny College, master of business administration degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business Administration and was a former class agent for fund-raising at Harvard Business School.
A past president of Mon Yough Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Merchants Association, he was affiliated with the East Valley Area Council, Boy Scouts of America; McKeesport Heritage Center; and McKeesport YMCA. He was president emeritus of the board at the Methodist Home in Mount Lebanon.
Helmstadter was also a past president of the Rotary Club of McKeesport and McKeesport Community Chest and a board member of the McKeesport Boys and Girls Club. His past board memberships included Allegheny County Community Chest; Allegheny County United Way; Allegheny County Health and Welfare Federation; and Pennsylvania Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aged.
A former treasurer of the National Health and Welfare Association of the United Methodist Church, he was the recipient of the Altrusa Volunteer of the Year; Silver Beaver Award, Boy Scouts of America; Edgar Mack Memorial Award; and Outstanding Trustee - Board of Global Ministries, United Methodist Church. He also served as a representative of the McKeesport Boy Scouts of America to the first International Jamboree in London.
Born May 22, 1905, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John Michael and Megan Richards Helmstadter. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hicks Helmstadter; sons, Richard John Helmstadter of Toronto, Canada, David Richards Helmstadter of Boston, Mass., Daniel Crist Helmstadter of Norwalk, Del., and John Michael Helmstadter of Edgecomb, Maine; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandsons; and brother, John M. Helmstadter of McKeesport.
Friends will be received tomorrow from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc. Service will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. in First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Larry Snodgrass and Rev. Howard Peters. Interment will be in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.

JAMES ROBERTSON
James W. (Jimmy) Robertson, 91, of McKeesport, formerly of New York, N.Y., died yesterday in Kane Regional Center. A retired messenger for New York X-Ray Laboratories with 33 years of service, he was a former companion for 10 years with the Senior Companion Program of Allegheny County in McKeesport and Duquesne.
Born in McKeesport, June 24, 1908, he was the son of the late Daniel F. and Mary (Polly) Eaglesham Robertson. He is survived by a brother, Russell E. Robertson of McKeesport; and caregiver and sister-in-law, Gertrude B. (Trudy) Robertson of McKeesport.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Church of St. Martin de Porres Parish. No visitation is scheduled. Inurnment will be in the mausoleum of McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Willig Funeral Home. The family has suggested memorial contributions to McKeesport Library or a favorite charity.

WILLIAM ROBINSON SR.
Private services were held Tuesday for William Robinson Sr., 77, of Charleroi who died Sunday at home. Arrangements were in charge of the Robert A. Waters Funeral Home, Clairton.
A retired master sergeant from the U.S. Army, he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Born in Sanford, Ala., May 20, 1922, he was the husband of the late Dorothy Shaw Robinson. He is survived by sons, Irvin Robinson of Tanzania, Africa, William Robinson Jr. of Monroeville and Timothy Robinson of Detroit, Mich.; daughters, Dorothy Tucker of Pittsburgh, Alise Hayes of Penn Hills and Wonda McDavis of Clairton; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
