James T. Moore, age 81, of Sewickley, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2001, at Valley Care Masonic Home.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Copeland's Sewickley-Irvine Chapel at 702 Beaver St.
A funeral service will be observed at Copeland's tomorrow (Thursday) at 11 a.m.
He was born on April 3, 1920, on the South Side of Pittsburgh to the late James Thomas and Edith (Graham) Moore.
Mr. Moore is survived by his children: Thomas J. (Kath-erine) Moore of Sewickley, Barbara S. (Chuck) Kornetz of Erie, Robert C. (Lisa) Moore of Economy, and Ronald A. Moore of Sewickley.
He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Smith and Eileen Kearcher, both of Sewickley.
Mr. Moore has eight grandchildren, Jason, Tom, Kaitlin, Scott, Robin, Brian Kornetz, Shawn and Craig; and one great-grandchild, Ashlyn Kornetz.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen M. (Dyska) Moore.
Mr. Moore had been a resident of Sewickley since 1958. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
He worked as a welder for Dally Engineers before his retirement.
Donations in his name may be made to Special Olympics.
Blackson
John E. Blackson, 69, of Sewickley Heights, formerly of Vandergrift, and New Castle, Pa., died in his home on Dec. 9, 2001.
He was born Feb. 11, 1932, in Vandergrift where he resided until adulthood.
A 1950 graduate of Vandergrift High School, he was a member of the football team and vice president of his class.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 and after being discharged enrolled at Indiana University of Pa., graduating in 1959. He earned his master's degree at Univer-sity of Southern Illinois.
He was employed by the City of Park Ridge, Illinois, as a city planner.
Mr. Blackson returned to New Castle as the Lawrence County Regional Planning Director. Subsequently, he entered business for himself as John Blackson Associates and later Towne Development Inc.
Mr. Blackson was involved with numerous urban projects in the New Castle area and the development of Towne Mall.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting and watching football, especially his alma mater, IUP.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW, a 32nd degree Mason and a former board member of the Art Rooney Dinner for the CYA.
Mr. Blackson is survived by his wife, Joyce Albrecht Blackson; a son, Bradley, of Escondido, Calif.; and three daughters: Beth Dickinson of Birmingham, Ala., Lisa Agnet-ti of Winter Springs, Fla., and Brenda Robey of Valley Center, Calif.
He also is survived by five grandchildren; and two brothers, Raymond C. of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and David L. of Ben Avon Heights; and a sister, Mrs. Donald (Diane) Dezzutti of Oakmont, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Hulda (Broski) Blackson.
Interment was private.
A memorial service will be announced. Arrangements by Copeland's Sewickley/ Irvine Chapel, 702 Beaver St.

Wheeler
Jerry Wheeler, 71, of Osborne, died on Dec. 16, 2001.
He was structural engineer and a member of the Sports Car Club of America.
He was the beloved husband of Diane Mawhinney Wheeler.
He is survived by cousins, Jack, Tom and David Stewart and Jean Ann Whitehouse.
Friends will be received on Thursday (tomorrow) from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. at the McDonald-Linn Funeral Home Inc., 529 California Ave., Avalon.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society or a favorite charity.
Zuschlag
Jane Dufford Zuschlag died Dec. 6, 2001, at her home in Gouldsboro, Me., surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 15, 1932, in Sharon, Pa., to the Rev. Clair Otto Dufford and Margaret (Bost) Dufford.
Her joy for life everlasting was often expressed through the written word. We rejoice with her in the words of Joyce Fossen:
Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain
When you wake in the morning hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Noble Ray Zuschlag, of Gouldsboro; five children: Margaret Metz of Trenton, Me.; Debra Ceranic of Bar Harbor, Me.; Robert Zuschlag and wife Kristen of Freeport, Me.; Matthew Zuschlag of Bar Harbor; and Mindy Viechnicki and husband John of Gouldsboro. She is also survived by her sisters, the Rev. Ann Dufford Kruger of Fincastle, Va., and Becky Duf-ford and husband Albert Canzonieri of Marathon, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and many dear friends and family.

Cooper
Martha Smith Cooper, 84, beloved wife of Charles William Cooper, died peacefully on Jan. 15, 2002.
Known as "Mats, " she was a lover of bears, nurturer of a child's heart in her children and all whom she met.
She is survived by her devoted husband, "Willy, " and her children, Carolyn, Barbara, Pam and Doug.
We who are left behind will see her life and love in the wildflowers that always return.
A service was held at The Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David McFarlane officiating.
Burial was in Sewickley Cemetery.
Copeland's Sewickley/Irvine Chapel handled the arrangements.
Curtis
John Arthur Curtis Jr., 76, formerly of Sewickley, died Jan. 17, 2002, in St. Clair Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1925, in Greenville, Pa., the son of John A. and Anna Helen McClimans Curtis Sr.
Mr. Curtis was a signal man for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
He was a member of the Sewickley United Methodist Church, The American Legion in Sewickley and Doric Lodge #630 F. & A.M. Sewickley. He was a lifetime member of the Coraopolis Sportsman's Club, serving on the board of directors.
Mr. Curtis belonged to the Model Railroad Club of Sewickley, The Signalman's Club and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by an uncle, William M. Shinn Jr. of Aliquippa; and cousins, Patricia A. Colonna of Aliquippa, J. Wesley Stubert and his wife, Alta, Lisa and Donald Moore of Industry, Pa., and Leslie and Terry Herman of Aliquippa.
A service was held at the Richard D. Cole Funeral Home, Beaver Street, Sewickley.
Interment was in Glen Cemetery in Adamsville, Pa.

Schneider
A service will be held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at The Richard D. Cole Funeral Home, 328 Beaver St., for Thelma May Hopkins Schneider.
Mrs. Schneider, 92, died on Jan. 18, 2002, at St. Francis Health Center, Cranberry Township.
She was born in Sewickley on Aug. 20, 1909, the daughter of Oliver and Florence Householder Hopkins.
Married the late Henry Schneider, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Richard Schneider and his wife, Emma, of Baden, Pa.; sisters, Enesta Nippes of Ambridge, and Dorothy Beitsinger of Sewickley; brother, Wallace Hopkins of Crucible, Pa.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Henry and William Hopkins, and sister, Martha Schwartz.
Interment will be in Sewickley Cemetery.
Fels
Jane Doughty Fels, 90, died Jan. 19, 2002, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Palm Harbor, Fla. She was the eldest daughter of James Clifford and Lila Morrison Doughty.
Born in Sewickley, she graduated from Sewickley High School in 1929. She earned a teaching certificate from Indiana State Teachers College, a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's degree from the University of Florida.
She taught at Sewickley Elementary School in the mid-1930s and in Hampton Town-ship until 1952 when she moved to Ozona, Fla.
She continued teaching in Pinellas County Schools. She became an elementary consultant and retired as an elementary science supervisor.
She belonged to The Kirk of Dunedin, Alpha Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma, Palm Harbor Friends of the Library, Creative Artist Guild of Dune-din, Zonta of Upper Pinellas, the West Coast Bromeliad Society and Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by sisters: Lilan Binning of Brandon, Fla.; Christine Doughty of Shreveport, La.; and Martha Kriever, Ozona, Fla.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, James C. Doughty Jr. and Richard M. Doughty.
Interment was at Curlew Hills Cemetery, Palm Harbor, Fla. Curlew Hills Memory Garden Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Huss
Blanche Rule Huss, born Feb. 8, 1907, died on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Holland and George Merrick and their three children, George Wesley, Colter and Judy in Sewickley.
Although she spent the last eight years of her life with her daughter in Sewickley, she had been a longtime resident of Cincinnati. However, in 1918 she moved with her family to Sewickley and lived in a house on Bank Street for several years.
Soon after the family moved, the house was torn down to build the Sewickley High School, which is now the Quaker Valley Middle School.
She was the daughter of the late Marguerite and Colter Rule and wife of the late Frank Wesley Huss Jr.
In addition to her daughter and her family, she is survived by a son, Frank Wesley Huss III and a daughter, Marguerite Banks, and her three children and four great-grandchildren.
She was a 1930 graduate of the University of Cincinnati where she received the "C" ring as outstanding senior woman athlete.
She was editor of the Proctor and Gamble in house publication "Moonbeams" and served on the boards of the Girl Scouts and The League of Women Voters.
There are no plans for a memorial service at this time; however, memorial gifts may be made to the Sewickley Public Library, Sewickley, Pennsylvania 15143.
Kimmel
Maureen Rutherford Kimmel, of Leetsdale, died Jan. 26, 2002, in Sewickley Valley Hospital.
She was born June 24, 1928, in Connellsville, Pa., to Richard and Charlotte Chambers Rutherford.
She was a retired health claims adjuster for Cigna Insurance.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Jarrett Kimmel; daughter, Ellen Kimmel Hamilton of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; grandchildren, Christen Erskin of Miami, Heather Voss of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; and Sarah Laney of Seaford, Del.
She also is survived by great-grandchildren, John Robert Erskin and Meghan Elise Voss.
