Gustave C. Chovan, 80, of Holiday Park, died Dec. 18, 2002, at Forbes Regional Hospital.
Born in Turtle Creek, he was a retired electrical brazier with Westinghouse.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Chovan; his children, Charlotte Eisaman and William Chovan; a sister, Jane Miller; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at Gene H. Corl Funeral Home. Interment was at Restland Memorial Park.
Scarano
Vincent J. Scarano Sr., 98, of Plum Borough died Dec. 21, 2002.
Mr. Scarano retired with 36 years of service with John Hancock.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Scarano.
Surviving are his children, Mary Bianco, Cleme Ecroyd and Vincent Scarano Jr.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Ashley
Robert S. Ashley Sr., 69, of Plum Borough died Dec. 21, 2002.
Born in Millvale, he was employed in the U.S. Postal Service with a rural delivery route.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Mioduski) Ashley; his children, Barbara Ann Maringo, Deborah Ann Ashley, Robert Ashley Jr.; a brother, James Ashley; his sister, Lois Mattarock; a grandson.

Bryson
Willa V. Bryson, 92, of Plum Borough died Dec. 22, 2002, at St. Margaret Hospital.
Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Edward and Nancy (Cain) Boal.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Bryson.
Surviving are her brother, Theodore Edwards; and two grandchildren.
Friends were received at Findlay C. Wylie Funeral Home. Interment was at Hebron Cemetery.

Day
George Day Sr. of East Oakmont, Plum, died on his 80th birthday, Dec. 18, 2002 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born in 1922 in Leechburg he was the son of Louis and Mary Taylor Day. He was a Navy veteran with the rank of lieutenant and worked as a mechanical engineer prior to retiring from the former Edgewater Steel in Oakmont. Mr. Day was a member of Verona Presbyterian Church, served as a church elder since 1961 and was in the choir.
He was also a member of the Verona Masons, 32nd Degree Mason, Knights of Templar and member of the 3 Rivers Walk to Emmaus.
A former member and past president of Verona School Board, he was on the founding board of Community College of Allegheny County and served on the board of Forbes Trail Vocational-Technical School.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Day; and a brother, John “Dick” Day.
Surviving are a son, George Day Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Indiana; two daughters, the Rev. Catherine “Kay” Day of Plum and Sue Balogh and her husband, Joseph, of Donora; a brother, Edward Day of Evans City; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at Burket-Truby Funeral Home Inc. in Oakmont. Services were held at Verona Presbyterian Church. Interment was at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Indiana Township, where full military honors were accorded.
Glick
Dorothy (Cihal) Glick, 76, of Penn Hills died Dec. 17, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Saul Glick.
Surviving are her children, Bruce, Ken and David Glick, and Shellie Hensler; and grandchildren, Megan and Ben Glick, and Matthew and Michael Hensler.
Friends were received at Charles W. Trenz Funeral Home. Mass was at North American Martyrs Church.

Heffner
Vina Heffner, 85, of Penn Hills died Dec. 22, 2002.
Mrs. Heffner was a member of Unity United Church for more than 30 years. She belonged to Plum Creek Woman’s Club and volunteered for 23 years at Presbyterian Senior Home in Oakmont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Heffner.
Surviving are her children, George Heffner and Grace Deer; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Verna Shaffer; a brother, Carl Glover.

Niedhammer
Frederick E. "Uncle Fred" Niedhammer, 97, died Dec. 16, 2002. Mr. Niedhammer was a retired real estate salesman.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Benson and Russell Niedhammer.
Friends were received at Charles W. Trenz Funeral Home.
Interment was at St. Peters Cemetery.

Stadler
Mary Louise Stadler, 87, of Plum died Dec. 28, 2002.
She was born in Pittsburgh and worked as a cosmetician at Kaufmann’s. She was treasurer of the Plum Borough Women’s Garden Club, a member of St. John the Baptist Church and a volunteer at St. Anthony’s School for Exceptional Children.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Reinbold, and a sister, Bernadette Dehn.
Surviving are sons, Greg Stadler and Robert Stadler and his wife, Kim; daughter Mary Ann Stadler; and a granddaughter, Rachel.
Friends were received at Soxman Funeral Home in Penn Hills. Services were at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment was at Plum Creek Cemetery.
Thomas
Josephine (Senkow) Thomas, 61, of Monroeville died Dec. 22, 2002.
Mrs. Thomas was affectionately known as "The Cookie Lady," best known for her lady locks. She was a social member and volunteer with American Legion Post No. 980 in Plum and the Slovenian Club of Center in Plum.
Surviving are her husband, Don Thomas; her children, James Kos of Monroeville, Cheryl An Kos of Monroeville, Kevin Kos of Saltsburg and Jason Thomas of Monroeville; a daughter-in-law, Donna Thomas; one grandchild, Jordan Leigh Thomas; sister, Mary Ondrey and Frances Duffy; brothers, Michael Senko and Andrew Senkow.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
