In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Neville) John; a son, Mitchell P. John Jr.; a brother, Joseph F. John; and sisters, Elizabeth "Nan" Yespak and Isabelle John. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church; was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division, stationed in Japan; and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1275, B.P.O. Elks #370 of Uniontown, AMVETS Post 103 Hopwood, and the VFW Post 47 of Uniontown. He is survived by four children, Michelle Macy and husband, James, of San Diego, Calif., Robert Keith John of the state of California, Richard J. John and wife, Margie, of San Diego, Calif., and Joyce A. John and fiancee, Michael A. Cronin, of Uniontown; six grandchildren, Christopher J. Macy, Mitchell J. John, Michael J. Bodis III, Jordan T. Thomas, Kristopher M. John, and Brooke I. John; and the following brothers and sister: Francis A. "Frenchy" John, Franklin A. John, and Josephine M. John, all of Uniontown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., 139 W. Church with the Rev. Father William Kiel as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded at graveside by VFW Post 47. Thomas E. Prosser, 59, of Duquesne, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999. He was born March 31, 1940, in Wilkinsburg, a son of Rita Yahner Prosser of Monroeville and the late Francis E. Prosser. He was retired from U.S. Steel Carrie Furnace, Rankin, where he worked on a track gang in the carpenter shop. He was a current supervisor at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Duquesne. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Duquesne, and a former member of its men's club and choir. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Catherine Meyer Prosser; a son, Todd T. Prosser at home; brothers and sisters, Jeanne Ireland, Agnes Maddy, Paul Prosser, Sally Prosser, Richard Prosser, Joseph Prosser, Daniel Prosser, Rita Garbin and Phillip Prosser; also nieces and nephews. William L. Crawford, 89, of Ingomar, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999. Husband of Ethel Faye Wachter Crawford. Father of John F. Crawford of Moon Township, Terry L. Crawford of Huntington, Conn., and W. Bruce Crawford of Wexford. Also survived by seven grandchildren. Mr. Crawford was the proprietor and manager of the North Park PAR 3 and the North Park Driving Range, which he had developed 65 years ago. Leora (Schopp) Heintzelman, 87, of Trafford, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, in the AUH-Forbes Regional in Monroeville. She was born Sept. 24, 1912, in May County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Isabelle Moore Hyde. She was a member of the Faith Bible Baptist Church, and a former member of the Trafford Senior Citizens and the Trafford Women's Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Schopp; a son, Donald P. Schopp; and two brothers, Norman and Wilbert Hyde. She is survived by her husband, John Heintzelman; a son, Joseph Schopp of Trafford; three daughters, Mrs. Francis (Joan) Jepsen of Nebraska, Marjorie Seaman of Trafford and Mrs. Richard (Melrose) Nicely of Trafford; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Lois B. Hofecker, 82, of Bolivar RD1, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, in the Edgewood Nursing Center, Youngstown, Pa. She was born July 15, 1917, in Fairfield Township, a daughter of the late Ernest C. and Ruthe McCoy McBurney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, G. Ralph Hofecker, in 1994; and a brother, Dwight McBurney. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Dorothy) Shurie of Latrobe; two sons, Ronald R. (and wife, Ruth Ann) Hofecker of Ligonier RD1 and William C. (and wife, Linda) Hofecker of Bolivar RD1; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Faye Hall of New Florence RD1. Andrew E. Stofan, 83, a resident of O'Hara Township for the past 50 years, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, in Veterans Hospital, Aspinwall. Born Nov. 7, 1916, in Wickhaven, he was a son of the late John and Mary Florenz Stofan. He was an Administrative Service employee for the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Blawnox. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a life member of the Guyasuta Volunteer Fire Company in O'Hara Township. Survivors include his wife, Madeline C. Stofan; four children, Andrew M. and his wife, Kathy Stofan, of Latrobe, Karen Stofan of O'Hara Township, Daniel J. and his wife, Kathy Stofan, of Seville, Spain, and Donald D. Stofan of O'Hara Township; and brothers and sisters, Albert Stofan of Wickhaven, Ann Rudzik of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Frank Stofan of North Huntingdon and Frances Stofan of Rostraver Township. Virginia M. Volk, 73, of Rostraver Township, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at her home. Mrs. Volk was born in Donora, Sept. 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Mylo C. and Anna Leasure Binley. Mrs. Volk was a homemaker. She was a member of Fells United Methodist Church, a member of the Good Samaritan class of the church, and also a member of United Methodist Women. Mrs. Volk was a 1944 graduate of Donora High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Volk, who died in 1994; and also by a brother, Harold Binley. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Kim Volk of Rostraver Township; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Stephen (Connie) Couts of Rocky Face, Ga.; three brothers, Mylo Binley of Vestal, N.Y., Donald Binley of Donora and Minor Binley of Ridgeview Terrace; four grandchildren, Nicole and Keith Volk, Jennifer Casten and Thomas Hale; and two great-grandchildren.
