Gisla Miller, 103, of Plum Borough died March 4, 2003, at Presbyterian Home in Oakmont.
Born Sept. 5, 1299, in Italy, she was the daughter of Riccardo and Enrichetta (Salsi) Maioli. Mrs. Miller was a resident of Plum since 1972 after 36 years as a tavern owner of Blondy's Restaurant in Wildwood, Pa. She was a member of SNPJ Bridgeville.
Surviving are her daughter, Donna Burtnett of Penn Hills; and many nieces and nephews.
Private arrangements were handled by Stephen P. Dolence Jr. Funeral Home. Interment was at Plum Creek Cemetery.
Readal
Charles F. Readal, 58, of Plum Borough died March 4, 2003, in Hermann, Mo.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy (Cahill) Readal; his daughters, Julie Bucci of Ohio and Melanie Readal of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren.
Friends were received at Gene Van Horn Funeral Home. Mass was at Our Lady of Joy Catholic Church.
Wayne
Perry C. Wayne, Jr., 64, former borough manager of Coraopolis, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, at his residence.
Mr. Wayne was born Feb. 8, 1939 in New Castle to the late Perry C. Sr. and Anna Mae (Stansfield) Wayne. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Wayne.
Mr. Wayne was a resident of Coraopolis for two years. He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Coraopolis. He was a 15-year member of Beaver Falls Volunteer Fire Department and held offices of president and vice-president and was a member of the Fireman’s Relief Association, where he was the secretary. He was owner and operator of Wayne Trucking, now known as Wayne Transportation. Mr. Wayne also was borough manager of Cambridge Springs from 1995-2000, and was borough manager of Coraopolis, where he retired in 2003.
Survivors include: his wife, Jane; two sons, Perry C. (Kathleen) Wayne III of Hopewell Township and John E. (Tiffany) Wayne of Beaver Falls; and three grandchildren.

Wilkie
Violet Wilkie, 82, of Moon Township died Saturday, April 5, at Beaver Elder Care in Aliquippa.
She was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Donora, a daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine Yaksic Bucich.
Mrs. Wilkie lived in Moon Township for more than 53 years and was a member of Sharon Community
Presbyterian Church in Moon.
She worked for Howard Johnson’s as a maid and also for Moon Elementary School in the cafeteria. She was a member of Croatian Fraternal Union.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sally, and her husband, Robert, of Moon; 10 siblings, Margaret Matava of Belle Vernon, Pauline Koval of Akron, Florence Heaps of Bridgeville, Marie Morrell of Arizona, Catherine Thomas of Donora, Frances Sanko of Donora, Sam Bucich of Glen Burnie, Md., Anthony Bucich of Valparaiso, Ind., Paul Bucich of Tacoma, Wash., and Donald Bucich of Finleyville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Wilkie Jr., and one son, Thomas Wilkie III.
Arrangements were handled by Copeland’s Moon Township where a service was held at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Howard officiating. Interment was at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
Carton
Patricia (Donovan) Carton, 79, a resident of Sewickley for more than 50 years, died on Aug. 24, at Sewickley Valley Hospital.
She was born on March 17, 1923, in Boston, Mass., to the late John Francis and Mary Catherine (Kelley) Donovan. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Vincent John Carton Sr., and one sister, Miriam Donovan.
Mrs. Carton was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Sewickley, a member of Sewickley Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Child Health Association, member of the Sewickley Music Club, the American Symphony Board and the Edgeworth Club.
She is the loving mother of Margaret (Carton) Risk and her husband James L. III of Boston; Mary Catherine (Carton) Borges and her husband Philip of Falls Church, Va.; John Donovan Carton and wife Judy of Watkinsville, Ga.; Claire Patricia (Carton) Ruch of Woodstock, Vt.; and Vincent John Carton Jr. of Sewickley.
She was the beloved sister of Jeanne Schmidlein Blakeney of Needham, Mass., and Catherine (Donovan) Huber of Madison, Conn.; proud grandmother of Jonathan Lightfoot Carton Risk, Benjamin Brewster Risk, Edward Townsend Risk and Julia McAlpin Risk, Christopher Philip Borges and Michael Philip Borges, Patrick Donovan Carton, Emily Elizabeth Carton and Allison Ann Carton, Kelley Anna Ruch and Colin Michael Ruch.
Friends were received at Copeland's Sewickley-Irvine Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. James Roman Catholic Church with Father Dave Poecking officiating.
Burial was in Sewickley Cemetery.

Malarik
John Milton Malarik, 65, a life-long resident of Sewickley, passed away on Aug. 19, 2002, at his residence.
He was born in Somerset, Pa., on May 23, 1937, to the late John A. and Ethel Jean (Gardner) Malarik.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Malarik.
Mr. Malarik retired in 2000 from work in the auto body shop at Kenny Ross.
He is survived by his close friend, Penelope Cooper; four children, Bette Spithaler of Evans City, Johnna Chicots of Sewickley, John G. Malarik of Mercer and David Malarik of Sewickley; two grandsons, David Malarik Jr. and John Chicots, both of Sewickley; and two brothers, Thomas Malarik of Sewickley and Robert Malarik of Florida.
Friends were received at Copeland's Sewickley-Irvine Chapel in Sewickley. Service were private.
Midgett
Millicent White Midgett, 78, of New Orleans, La., died of cancer on Aug. 15, 2002.
A frequent visitor to Sewickley, she is survived by daughters Mary Lyn McGinn of Sewickley, Lois Kelley of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Carole Levin of LaPlace, La.; a son, Dan Midgett of New Orleans; and her husband Dan Midgett Jr., who plans to relocate to Sewickley.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandson..
Mrs. Midgett was born in Elizabeth City, N.C., on March 24, 1924. She became a nurse and a homemaker. She was an avid gardener and volunteer in many organizations in New Orleans.
Her ashes will be buried in Sewickley.
Memorials may be made to the Sewickley Borough Tree Commission for the planting of the street trees in Sewickley that she loved.
Canter
On Aug. 25, 2002, Richard S. Canter, 79, died, from an extended illness.
Mr. Canter served in the U.S. Army during World War II and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy with the highest honors on February of 1947.
He was recipient of the Canter Prize, an academic excellence award sponsored by his father Abram Canter.
He immediately began working in the pharmacy begun by his father in 1935, and assumed the management of the business in 1965.
Canter's Pharmacy, formerly located at Fifth and Liberty avenues in Pittsburgh, was one of the small independent drug stores in the Pittsburgh region.
The business was sold in 1979.
From 1980 until 2001, Mr. Canter was a staff pharmacist and later pharmaceutical supervisor for Sewickley Valley Hospital. He was a long time member of the American Pharmaceutical Association and Phi Epsilon Pi.
He had a lifelong love of sailing, woodworking and sports.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jane, along with his four children, Debra Canter of Wellington, Ohio; Julie Grimes of Anchorage, Ala.; Jeffrey Canter of Fair Oaks; and Christine Kallinen of Seattle; and five grandchildren, Sarah and Stephanie Canter, Saman-tha Kallinen and Cody Kallinen).
Also surviving are his daughter-in-law, Katherine Canter and son-in-law James Grimes; and his sister, Joyce Reskin of Brown County, Ind.
He is also survived by a niece, Laurie Embry of Brown County, Ind., and Roy Reskin of Fort Lauderdale.
Friends and family will be received at the family home.

Hallstein
Frederick Henry Hallstein Jr., 60, of Sewickley died Aug. 5, 2002, in Veterans Administra-tion Medical Center, O' Hara Township.
He was born Sept, 21, 1942, in Glenfield.
Mr. Hallstein was a steelworker at J&L in Aliquippa for 19 years. He was also an Air Force veteran.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of Nancy L. Johnson Hallstein.
Other survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Denise Marie (Patrick) Korzon of Springdale; and his mother, Josephine Werner Hallstein of Bridgeville.
Also surviving are two grandsons, Nicholas Paul and Robert Patrick Korzon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Henry Hallstein Sr.

Corbett-Wolfe
Helen Corbett-Wolfe, 91, a Sewickley resident for the past 15 years, died on Sept. 19, 2002, at Valley Care Masonic Village.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Guest officiating at Christ Church at Grove Farm, Duff Road, Ohio Township.
She was born in Pittsburgh on Sept. 25, 1910.
She was preceded in death by her spouses: the late William T. Corbett and W. Edward Wolfe.
She was the oldest member and a found member of Christ Church at Grove Farm.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her niece, Sally Dunbar of Sewickley; her great niece and great nephew, Laura Doty of Sewickley and Robert Dunbar of Wexford; her four great-great nephews and niece: Rachel, Like, Robby and Eric.
Burial was private in Union Dale Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in her name to her church.
