She was born in Cliff Mine, Pa. on July 15, 1916, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Misak) Krull. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Baird, on March 28, 1978.
Mrs. Baird was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Morrison of Bossier City, La., and one brother, one sister, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000 in St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Malcolm McDonald officiating. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Melanie Rae Breitenstein, age 13, a Moon Township resident for the past four years, formerly of Findlay Township, died on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, in Sewickley Valley Hospital.
She was born in Pittsburgh on Nov. 9, 1987, a daughter of Craig Robert and Helen (Swetz) Breitenstein.
Melanie was a member of the gymnastics team for Moon, was on the honor roll and was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Robinson Township. She was in seventh grade in Moon Middle School.
She is survived by her parents, her brother, Clayton Breitenstein, at home; her two grandmothers, Rita Swerz of Munhall and Esther Breitenstein of Green Tree; and many loving relatives and friends.
Visitation was held at Copeland's Moon Township Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held in Holy Trinity Church with the Rev. Ed Hoffman officiating. Burial followed in Robinson Run Cemetery.
Madeline Bruno, 81, life long resident of Coraopolis, died Sunday, Nov. 12, in Sewickley Valley Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1919 in Clymer, Ind.
Mrs. Bruno was a member of St. Joseph Church, and was retired from G.C. Murphy Co. where she worked as a clerk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mariano Bruno.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Bruno of Ohio; her sister, Rose Amerando, Coraopolis; and her brother, Jim Viccaro of Coraopolis.
Funeral arrangements were made by Anthony J. Sanvito Inc. Funeral Home, Coraopolis. Funeral was held at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Malcolm McDonald officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.
John Drauch, 70, of Crescent Township, died on Friday, Nov. 24, at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1930 in McKees Rocks, a son of the late John and Julia (Bronowitz) Drauch.
Mr. Drauch retired in 1992 from P & LE Railroad, where he worked as a dispatcher for 41 years. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores (Bittner) Drauch of Crescent; his daughter, Christine, and her husband, Lance Scalise of Aliquippa; and his son, John, and his wife, Jacquelyn Drauch of Beaver Falls. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Martin, Justin Scalise and Joshua and Caitlyn Drauch.
Visitation was held at Copeland's Moon Township Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was held in St. Margaret Mary Church. Internment followed at Resurrection Cemetery.
Dorothy (Landsittel) Hull, 65, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Coraopolis, died on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2000 at St. Vincent's Hospital.
She was born in Groveton, Pa, on June 22, 1935, a daughter of the late Roy and Madeline (Gray) Landsittel.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Navy Mothers, VFW Post 402.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Robert Hull; her son, Robert Hull, at home; two sisters, Janet Maxin, Moon, and Joyce Tritrishler, Moon; one brother, Richard Landsittel of Coraopolis; and her cousin, Libby Long of Sheridan.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Landsittel.
Visitation was held at Copeland's Coraopolis Funeral Home where funeral services were held with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Sterling officiating.
Burial followed in Coraopolis Cemetery.
Jane Ringle, 83, a former resident of Moon Township, died October 6, 2000 in Los Angeles, Calif.
She was born in Canton, Ohio on August 4, 1917.
Mrs. Ringle was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ringle and her brother, Robert Meyer.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Goll of Salem, Or.; Douglas of San Ramon, Calif.; Sara Drummond of Chicago, Ill.; and Eric of Houston, Texas.
Also by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving her is a sister, Gladys Lager of Trenton, Mich.
A memorial service will be held in Houston, Texas.
Julia Claire Spackman, 86, died Friday, Dec. 1, at the Medical Center, Beaver.
She was born March 16, 1914 in Altoona, a daughter of the late Ira Alden and Velma (Walback) Spackman.
A lifelong resident of Coraopolis, Julia was a homemaker and member of the Hopewell Alliance Church.
She is survived by four sisters and two brothers: Gladys and Evelyn Spackman of Coraopolis; Margaret Cochran of Aliquippa; Doris Fisher of Lawrence, Kan; Robert Spackman of Coraopolis and Ira Spackman of Wilkinsburg.
Friends were received at Copeland's Coraopolis Funeral Home, where services were held with Pastor Clyde Davis officiating.
Burial followed in Coraopolis Cemetery.
David Walter Vandevort, Jr., 66, of Nevada, formerly of Coraopolis, died on Tuesday, Nov. 21, in Desert Springs Hospital, Las Vegas, Nev.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1934 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Iris Davenport and David Walter Vandevort, Sr.
Mr. Vandevort was retired from Bell Atlantic where he was a manager. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottist Rite Bodies and Zelzah Shrine, all in Pittsburgh.
He is survived by his wife, Irene (Pitaro) Vandevort; his three children-Linda Vester of Volant, Pa., Diane Reed, Narvon, Pa., and David Walter Vandevort, III, Oakdale; a brother, Robert Vandevort, Nevada; and 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Copeland's Moon Township Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Charles officiating.
Burial was private.
Memorials may be made in his name to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Cecilia Marie Ochman Wargetz (Wykrykacz), 82, of Troy, Michigan, formerly of Neville Island, died on Thursday, Nov. 23, in Troy.
She was born on Sept. 8, 1918 in Ambridge.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph's Church and St. Joseph's Church Christian Mothers, Coraopolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas, and her brothers, Henry, Paul and Edward Ochman.
Surviving are her children- Patricia Rankin and her husband, Lee, of Ohio; Nicholas Wargetz and his wife Jane, Texas; David Wargetz and his wife, Georgia, Texas; and Phyllis Schad and her husband, Randy, Michigan. Also surviving are her sisters, Jane Glogowski, Pennsylvania, and Sophia DiMaggio, Ambridge, and eight grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were made by Anthony J. Sanvito Inc. Funeral Home, Coraopolis. Funeral was held at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. Malcolm McDonald officiating. Burial was in St. Peter and Paul, Ambridge.
Don Celio, 47, a life-long resident of Moon Township, died on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, in his home.
He was born in Kennedy Township on Aug. 8, 1953, a son of the late Mario and Emma Celio. Mr. Celio was a member of St. Joseph's Church, a 1975 graduate of Moon High School and a graduate of Slippery Rock State College. He was an accountant employed at WQED TV.
He is survived by several cousins.
Services were held at Copeland's Coraopolis Funeral Home, , with the Rev. Malcolm McDonald officiating at the Blessing Service.
Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in Kennedy Township.
