Lois Carson Berkstresser, 78, of Level Green, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. She was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Bellwood, Pa., a daughter of William and Alice Dell Carson. She was a member of Level Green Presbyterian Church and the Eunice Circle. Prior to retirement, she was an employee of Amalgamated Food Employee & Welfare & Trust Fund. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert F. Berkstresser. Surviving are three children, Gordon Berkstresser of Wexford, Joyce Coombs of Atlanta, Ga., and Glenn Berkstresser of Apollo; also eight grandchildren. Friends will be received at the DAVID A. RITTER FUNERAL HOME, 220 Edgewood Ave., Trafford, Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. till services begin. Funeral service will be held in Level Green Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Macaleer officiating. Interment will follow in Penn-Lincoln Memorial Park. Family suggests memorial donations to American Cancer Society of Pittsburgh, and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Ruth Ann Eicher, 82, formerly of Kingview, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 8, 2001, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Ruth Ann was born at Kingview in Upper Tyrone Township, Fayette County, Sept. 4, 1918, the daughter of the late Charles F. and Carrie Shelkey Eicher. Ruth Ann was a lifetime member of the Everson Evangelical Church of North America, where years ago she was active in the Friendship Circle, Ladies Aid Society and the Missionary Society. She enjoyed the handiwork of embroidery, crafting tea towels, and pillowcases. Ruth Ann is survived by several loving cousins. In addition to her parents, an infant brother preceded her in death. Ruth Ann's family and friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale, (724) 887-5300. Matthew Corey Fugh, 21, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in Durham Regional Hospital, Durham, N.C. He was born July 2, 1979, in McCandless Township, dear son of Kathryn George Stright of Lebanon, Pa. and J. Elwood `Woody' Fugh, Jr. of Cranberry Township. Brother of Jef Fugh of West Mifflin; grandson of Ruth (Staley) Fugh of Gibsonia and the late J. Elwood Fugh, Sr. and the late Norman L. and Ruth L. George; also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Matt was a 1997 graduate of Mars High School, where he was the captain of the Mars hockey team. He was also captain of the Armstrong hockey team, and played for Penquins Amatuer Hockey. Matt graduated from ITT Tech in May 2000 and was employed as a manager technician for Kern International in Durham. Friends received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. Mrs. Hohenstein was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Hohenstein; her parents, Sarah and Joseph Lieberman; and sisters, Rose Solomon and Edith Glick. She is survived by devoted children, daughter, Joan H. (Robert) Bergman, of Tucson, Ariz., son, Daniel I., of New Bern, N.C., daughter, Susan H. (Bernard) Kanter, of Columbus, Ohio. Mrs. Hohenstein is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hohenstein was a member of Rodef Shalom Temple and Sisterhood, a life member of Riverview Center for Jewish Seniors, Ladies Auxiliary, Women's Auxiliary of Pittsburgh Blind Association, National Council of Jewish Women, Ladies Hospital Aid Society, and Hadassah.
