Allan Glenn Sandmeyer, 55, of Elizabeth Township, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999, in UPMC Shadyside. He was born March 13, 1944, in Greenock, and was a son of the late Edwin P. and Margaret Ginter Sandmeyer. He worked for Mechanical Engineering Operations (formerly Westinghouse), and was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of VFW Post 781, Irwin, and the Buena Vista Fire Co. He is survived by his wife, Janet Waldbaum Sandmeyer; a son, Allan Sandmeyer of Liberty Borough; sisters, Shirley Gilbert of Elizabeth Township and Linda Krznaric of North Huntingdon; a brother, Richard "Pete" Sandmeyer of West Newton; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the DREW J. GILBERT FUNERAL HOME INC., Boston, Elizabeth Township. Service will be in the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Kelly officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.

DONALD T. KOLBE
Donald T. Kolbe, 70, of Hazelkirk (Carroll Township), died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Hazelkirk, a son of the late Frederick and Mary Bendig Kolbe. He was a lifelong resident of Hazelkirk and was a member of Transfiguration Church of Monongahela. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion James C. Ford Post #949 of Dunkirk. Mr. Kolbe was a retired carpenter from Frank Irey Industries of Monongahela and formerly employed as a concrete finishing foreman by D.L. Kollar Contracting of East McKeesport. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Bialon Kolbe; a daughter, Donna MacCamy and husband, Robert, of Forest Hills; a son, Douglas F. Kolbe of Monongahela; three grandchildren, Renee and Robbie MacCamy, and Richard Steven Kolbe; a sister, Martha Basel of Van Voorhis, Pa.; and a brother, Robert Kolbe of New Eagle. Roderick C. Hoak Jr., 71, of Elizabeth, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, in IHS at Mountain View, Greensburg. Born Nov. 20, 1927, in Liberty Borough, a son of the late Roderick C. and Martha Jane McLean Hoak. He was a self-employed salvage contractor. He is survived by his wife, Cornelia Davis Hoak; two sisters, Martha Jane Donaldson of Buena Vista and Bonnie Ziegler of Greensburg; and three brothers, Hugh C. Hoak of West Newton, Joseph C. Hoak of Ligonier, and John T. Hoak of Mt. Vernon. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the RALPH L. FREDERICK W. KIRSCHMAN JR.
Frederick W. Kirschman Jr. died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at 3:10 p.m., in Tampa, Fla. Fred, "Skip, " was born in Pittsburgh in 1906, and lived most of his life in that area, later moving to Southport, N.C., where he and his wife, Miriam, lived for 18 years. Skip was a superintendent of maintenance at the Carrie Furnace Rankin Plant of U.S. Steel, where he was employed for 48 years. He was a Past Master of the Free and Accepted Masons at the McCandless Lodge in Pittsburgh, a 33rd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He was also an elder in the Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh and later a member of the Southport Presbyterian Church, and a Rotarian for over 20 years. Fred was from a large family including his father, Frederick W. Kirschman Sr.; mother, Rose Boeltz Kirschman; brothers, Edwin and Elmer; and sisters, Helen and Laura Vetter, all of whom are deceased. He is survived by his two brothers, Albert and Howard, both of Pittsburgh; and his two sisters, Betty Hardin of Hartwell, Ga., and Delores McIlwaine of Ocala, Fla. Fred is also survived by his wife, Miriam; his daughter, Thelma Wood of Hilton Head, S.C.; and sons, Frederick of Lakeland, Fla., and David of Tampa, Fla. Fred Kirschman was a gentle and friendly man who will be missed by his family and friends. BRUNO KMIECIAK
Bruno "Bazz" Kmieciak, 86, of Everson, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at Integrated Health Service of Greater Pittsburgh, Greensburg. He was born Nov. 24, 1912, in Everson Valley, a son of the late Albert, who died Dec. 13, 1917, and Sophia Rogalinski Kmieciak, who died Nov. 14, 1950. Bazz was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Everson, and a former member of the church choir for several years. He was a retired welder for Uptegraff Manufacturing Co., Scottdale, with over 35 years of service and served as shop steward for several years. Bazz was a member and past treasurer for the F.O.E. Scottdale and former board member for Scottdale Joint School District and Southmoreland School District for 17 years. He was a high school sports enthusiast and member of the Southmoreland School Board Athletic Committee. Bazz valued education, was a lifelong learner, and enjoyed being a public servant for others. Bazz leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted children, a daughter, Sharyn M. Kmieciak of Everson and Randy Kmieciak and wife, Tammy, of Everson; two grandchildren, Randi Jo and Bradley David Kmieciak, both of Everson; a sister, Sophia "Sarah" Selemon of Scottdale; and number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Elizabeth Soltis Kmieciak, who died April 6, 1992; six sisters, Clara Tager, who died Feb. 18, 1980, Sally Johnson, who died in 1978, Josephine T. Parfitt, who died Dec. 6, 1988, Edna and Mary Kmieciak, both in their youth, Dorothy Siwula, who died Aug. 3, 1992; and a brother, Watson Kmieciak, who died Nov. 26, 1982. Bazz's family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson, with the Rev. Joseph L. Sredzinski and the Rev. Dennis A. Bogusz as con-celebrants. Interment to follow in St. Joseph R.C. Parish Cemetery, Everson. A parish wake service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
