Posted By: GenealogyBuff.com Florence A. West, 86, of Hopewell Township, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Feb. 7, 1913, in Apollo, Pa., a daughter of the late Charles and Martha Smeltzer Metzler, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Aliquippa; United Methodist Women, and the Hopewell Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, David West, in 1981, and a sister, Lenora Feltenburg. Surviving are a daughter, Karen West, Hopewell Township, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the HUNTSMAN ALIQUIPPA FUNERAL HOME, 2345 Mill St., Aliquippa. Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, by her pastor, the Rev. Paul B. Sparrer. Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to the First United Methodist Church, Brodhead and Chapel Roads, Aliquippa, Pa. 15001.
Helen Zimnowocki, 76, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, in the Rochester Manor Nursing Home, Rochester. Born Oct. 10, 1922, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Mikaszowa Zimnowocki, she was formerly employed at the Ambridge Daily Citizen; the Economy Bank, and the H.H. Robertson Company in Ambridge and Greentree. She belonged to Good Samaritan Roman Catholic Church and the Polish National Alliance Group 1013. Surviving are a sister, Frances Rutkowski, Rochester, and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Adam, Joseph and Stephen, and a sister, Stella Rabovsky. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the WALTER R. KASPER FUNERAL HOME, Eighth Street, Ambridge, where a funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in the Good Samaritan St. Stanislaus Worship Site. The Rev. James Kunkel will officiate. Interment will be in the Good Samaritan St. Stanislaus church Cemetery.
Peter Belic, 88, of Rochester Township, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, in the Beaver Valley Geriatric Center, Brighton Township. Born June 2, 1910, in Johnstown, Pa., a son of the late Stanley and Petra Belic, he was a retired bricklayer from St. Joe Minerals, Potter Township. He was a former 25-year member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Rochester, and was a member of Local 8183, United Steelworkers of America. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Yolanda M. Furgiuele Belic; five sons and a daughter-in-law, Peter Belic, San Antonio, Texas; Ronald and Ann Belic, Enon, Ohio; Donald Belic, Tampa, Fla.; David Belic, in Ohio, and Michael Belic, Holiday, Fla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Charlotte Lenore and Ronald Bigler, Austin, Texas, and Pamela Sue Powers, Clearwater, Fla., and a brother, Adam Suzeivich, McKeesport. He will be fondly missed by his 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Lorenzo, Gladys Brlecti and Ann Otto, and a brother, Steven Suzeivich. Services were held Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester. The Rev. Wayne Gillespie, assistant pastor of the Grace Lutheran Church, officiated. Entombment followed in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum.
Bernard V. Borman, 83, of Baden, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, as a result of injuries he and his wife, Thelma, sustained from an automobile accident. Born May 24, 1915, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Vincent and Alice Becker Borman, he was a retired employee of Armco Steel Corporation, Ambridge. He was a member of the Baden United Methodist Church, past member of the Baden Fire Department, the Beaver Valley Barber Shop Chorus, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving with the 290th Field Artillery Observation Battalion in Europe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, and three sisters, Alice McKee, Florence Miskovich and Lorraine Borman. Surviving are two sons, Bernard Borman and his wife, Rosemarie, Birmingham, Ala., and Gary Borman and his wife, Becky, Youngstown, Ohio; a brother, Vincent Borman, Quincy, Mass.; a sister, Audrey Borman, Avalon; one granddaughter, two grandsons and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service will be held today at 4 p.m. in the Baden United Methodist Church, State Street, with the Rev. James Decker officiating. Interment will be in Sylvania Hills Cemetery, Daugherty Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baden United Methodist Church Memorial Fund. The MATTER-TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME, 1133 Church St., Ambridge, is in charge of arrangements.
Thelma R. Borman, 78, of Baden, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, as a result of injuries she and her husband, Bernard, sustained from an automobile accident. Born Sept. 5, 1920, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Christian and Nellie Rome Hufnagle, she was a member of the Baden United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Bernard Borman and his wife, Rosemarie, Birmingham, Ala., and Gary Borman and his wife, Becky, Youngstown, Ohio; one granddaughter, two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Hufnagle. A memorial service will be held today at 4 p.m. in the Baden United Methodist Church, State Street, with the Rev. James Decker officiating. George M. Crail, 76, of Butler, passed away at 8:01 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in the Evergreen Nursing Home, after an illness. Born March 18, 1922, in Ford City, Pa., a son of the late Charles Murray and Adelaide (Salkeld) Crail, he was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served in World War II. He retired from the custodial department of the Butler Intermediate High School in 1986. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and served on the church council. For over 30 years, he was one of the pioneers in the lay ministry in Southwestern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. When on the Athletic Commission, he coordinated the building of softball fields on Camp Lutherlynn Grounds. After serving two years as president of the Fellowship, he received the Monsignor Glenn Award for his service to the people of Butler County. He had been manager of the Butler Floor Co. and Logan Nortan Paint Co. and later was associated with insurance and securities. He was a 1940 graduate of Ford City High School and attended Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon). He was a member of the Butler Toastmasters, past president of Meridian PTA, and served two terms as president for the YMCA Good Friday breakfasts. Surviving are his wife, Martha J. (McLaughlin) Crail, whom he married June 24, 1944; two daughters, Mrs. Jane E. Shearer, Scottdale, Pa., and Mrs. John E. (Barbara) Craven Jr., Pittsburgh, and a grandson, Daniel Guziak, with whom he made his home. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. A service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Pierotti officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
Nazareth J. DeMarco, 83, of Monaca, died Friday morning, Feb. 19, 1999, in the emergency room of The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Jan. 16, 1916, in Rochester, a son of the late Vito and Carmella Chinicci DeMarco, he was a laborer, having worked at the former North Star Transfer (barge hauling and railroad hauling company), Monaca. A veteran of World War II, he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, having won two Purple Hearts in the Normandy campaign and a Bronze Star for bravery. He was also a member of the Monaca American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Guy DeMarco; a sister, Florence Gecina, and a grandson, Michael Oresto James DeMarco, on Jan. 16, 1993. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Helen C. (Soos) DeMarco, whom he married June 23, 1945; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James and Patricia DeMarco, Monaca, and Paul DeMarco, Oakland, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and William Bittner, Baltimore, Md.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John and Celia DeMarco, Vanport, and Joseph DeMarco, Monaca; three grandchildren, Kelly Ann Margetts, Paul Joseph DeMarco and Nathaniel James DeMarco, and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Bradley Margetts. Friends will be welcome today from 2 to 7 p.m. only in BATCHELOR BROTHERS MONACA, 998 Atlantic Ave., where services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Eugene DeMarco will officiate. Entombment will follow in Campbell's Williamsburg Mausoleum, Beaver Falls Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Beaver County Special Unit.
Helen (Budinko) Drositis, 92, of Aliquippa, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in UPMC - Beaver Valley. Born May 23, 1906, in Austria - Hungary, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Budinko, she was a member of Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Aliquippa. Surviving are her husband of 70 years, Tom Drositis Sr.; a son, Tom Drositis Jr., Aliquippa; a daughter, Sophie Deutsch, Tamarac, Fla.; her grandchildren, Helen and Ronald Benaquisto, Hopewell Township; Christine and Steve Sabo, Virginia Beach, Va.; Carolyn DiGiandomenico, Aliquippa, and Trefen and Jeanine Drositis, Hopewell Township, and nine great-grandchildren, Dawn, Ronnie, Ryan, Kevin, Alan, Leah, Dillon, Damon and Derek. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the WAYNE N. TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME, 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, where a service will be conducted Monday at 12:30 p.m., followed by an additional service at 1 p.m. in the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Aliquippa. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Trisagion (blessing service) will be held today at 3:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
Giovanna (Guido) Gagliardi, 98, of Glenwood Avenue, Ambridge, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in her home. Born Oct. 12, 1900, in Amantea, Italy, a daughter of the late Luigi and Antonia Ianni Guido, she was a resident of Ambridge for the past 78 years. She was a member of the Good Samaritan Parish, Ambridge; the Christian Mothers of Good Samaritan and the LaVittoria Lodge 968 of Ambridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francesco Gagliardi, in 1957; a son, Samuel Gagliardi, in 1935; a daughter, Rosina Gagliardi, in 1920; seven brothers, Jiacomo Guido, Vince Guido, Domenic Guido, Jack Guido, Salvatore Guido, Francesco Guido and Rocco Guido. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Orlando (Gigs) and Ruth Gagliardi, Ambridge, and Samuel and Patricia Gagliardi, Baden; a daughter and son-in-law, Rose and James Beck, Baden; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Debra and Ralph Strano, in Kentucky; James and Susan Beck, Baden; Joann and Anthony Gennaro, Hopewell Township; Frank and Cindy Gagliardi, in Oklahoma; Joni Gagliardi, Ambridge; Sandra and Ed Eckle, John and Diane Gagliardi, and Ann and Edward Allison, all of Pittsburgh; 15 great-grandchildren and good friends, Catherine Spinelli, Ambridge, and Dorothy Morelli, Pittsburgh, and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Good Samaritan Parish, Christ the King Worship Site, with her pastor, Father James Kunkel officiating. Burial will follow in the parish Cemetery, Bell Acres. The Christian Mothers and the Ladies Guild of Good Samaritan Church will recite the rosary today at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
Betty (Debosh) Iacobucci, 74, of Aliquippa, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, Feb. 18, 1999, in UPMC - Beaver Valley, Aliquippa. Mrs. Iacobucci was born May 10, 1924, in Aliquippa, and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ann (Kalapos) Debosh. She was a member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church, Aliquippa, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and was a volunteer of numerous church activities. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Confraternity of Christian Mothers, where she served on the executive board for many years, and the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Woodlawn 565. Mrs. Iacobucci is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Helen Iacobucci, Pittsburgh, and Edward and Kelly Iacobucci, Falls Church, Va., and two daughters and a son-in-law, Maryann Iacobucci, Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Theresa and John Heid, Gibsonia, Pa. In addition to her children, she is survived by five loving grandchildren, Elizabeth, Melissa, Anthony, Dominick and William. She is also survived by a sister, Ann Debosh, and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joseph and Irene Debosh, and John Debosh, all of Aliquippa; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic A. Iacobucci; a daughter-in-law, Olga Iacobucci; a sister, Mary Sakal, and a brother, Andrew Debosh. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the MASTRO-FRANCESCO FUNERAL HOME, 21st and McMinn Streets, Aliquippa, where a service will be conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Hopewell Township. The St. Titus Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the C.D. of A. will recite a rosary today at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
