Obituaries by LocationRobert M. Peck, 80, of Baden, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Allegheny General Hospital, following a brief illness. Born June 14, 1918, in Midland, a son of the late Arcadia and Christine Brynda Petkovich, he resided in Baden for over 40 years. He was employed as an insurance consultant with Metlife Insurance Company for 23 years, retiring in 1980. He served with the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II aboard the U.S.S. San Juan in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a graduate of St. Veronica High School and attended Wake Forest College on a football scholarship. A former president of the board of both Ambridge and Baden-Economy school districts, he was the former owner of the Green Village Tavern, Rossiter, Pa. He was a former member of the F&AM Thistle Lodge No. 900 Empire State; a former member of the Clover Lodge IOOF No. 34, and chief patriarch of the Ambridge Encampment. He was also a former member of Hartman's Deep Valley Golf Course for 30 years and was an active member of the Baden United Methodist Church. Surviving are his loving wife, Anita Foster Peck, to whom he was married for 46 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. Jr. and Shari Peck, Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Heather L. Bialorucki, and a grandson, Brett R. Bialorucki, both of Audubon, Pa.; a brother, Jack Peck, Industry, and a sister, Ann Vezmar, North Hills, Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael M. Peck, in 1968, and a sister, Mary Sela, in 1998. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at 2 p.m., in the Baden United Methodist Church with his pastor, the Rev. A. James Decker, officiating. Elizabeth J. Provence, 91, of Beaver Falls, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Aug. 7, 1907, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late Thomas and Clara Furnival Farrall, she was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Beaver Falls. She was preceded in death on July 30, 1997, by her husband, Robert E. Provence, whom she married Aug. 1, 1929. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Nick (Shirley) Camp, Freedom, and Mrs. Robert (Phyllis) Daniels, Silver Lake, Ohio; two granddaughters, Christine Bennett, in Indiana, and Kayla Pobboravsky, in Louisiana; a great-granddaughter, Caroline Bennett, and a great-grandson, Patrick Bennett. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Pobboravsky, on Jan. 9, 1994; a brother, Alfred Farrall; two sisters, Eva Ritchie and Edith Campbell, and a grandson, Mark R. Daniels, in May 1992. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LUTTON BEAVER FALLS FUNERAL HOME, 1117 Fifth Ave., where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Donald David Semonik, 56, fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a brief but very courageous battle with leukemia. He was the first-born son of John D. and Helen Pehon Semonik and was employed as the assistant manager of the Red Lobster Restaurant, Reading, Pa. for a period of 10 years, retiring in 1994. After living in Reading with his wife, Margaret Mary, they moved back to the Ambridge area eight months ago. He was an avid cook and worked as a head chef in several local restaurants in the area. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Mary Dzatko Semonik; two brothers and their wives, John N. and Carole Semonik, Harmony Township, and Gerald and Ellen Semonik, Economy; a sister and her husband, Patricia and John G. Yeager, Ambridge; three nephews, Matthew and wife Julya Semonik, San Diego, Calif.; a godson, Paul Semonik, and James Semonik, both of Harmony Township; two nieces, Lori Semonik, Economy, and a goddaughter, Paula Yeager, Harmony Township. Friends will be received today and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a service will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at 9 a.m, followed by a funeral service at 9:30 a.m. in St. John Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, Ambridge, with his pastor, The Rev. John P. Gido, officiating. Interment will be in Economy Cemetery. A panachida service will be conducted Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Joseph S. Skof, 77, of 115 Shady Dr., Lemont, Pa., and formerly of Aliquippa, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in his home. Born May 15, 1921, in Burgettstown, Pa., a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Rujnak Skof, he was a 1939 graduate of Burgettstown High School and a 1944 graduate of Penn State with a Masters in Education. He was a retired school teacher and principal for the Potter and Center Township schools in Beaver County. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, State College, Pa., and was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Flack Skof, whom he married in 1993; five sons, Thomas J. Skof, Aliquippa; Mark Skof and George Skof, both of Tulsa, Okla.; Paul Skof, Anchorage, Alaska, and James Skof, Bremen, Germany; two sisters, Barbara Murzi and Louise Gianfrancisco, both of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, John Mczak, Tahoe, Nev., and Mark Scof, Tampa, Fla., and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death in 1991 by his first wife, Mildred A. Bertovich Skof, whom he married in 1949. There will be no public visitation. A graveside service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. with Father Martin D. McCamley officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Bellefonte, Pa. William D. Teasdale, 85, of Beaver Falls, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born June 27, 1913, in Brownsville, Pa., a son of the late William H. and Maude Gue Teasdale, he retired in 1974 after 34 years of service as a steelworker at the Babcock & Wilcox Company. A past fire chief of the West Mayfield Fire Department, he was a past president of the Beaver County Fire Chiefs, and was a member of Beaver Falls Elks 348; Beaver County Senior Citizens; Beaver County C.O.R.P. Club, and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). He attended the College Hill United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and J.C. Teasdale. Surviving are his wife, Mildred E. Fletcher Teasdale; two sons, William B. Teasdale, Rochester, N.Y., and Donald W. Teasdale, Rochester, Pa.; a daughter, Linda L. Phillips, Verona, Pa.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and four sisters, Ruth Turner, Medina, Ohio; Mildred Haregsin, Cleveland, Ohio; Winona Vey, Pittsburgh, and Jane Haregsin, Cambridge Springs, Pa. Norman Howard Toliver, 48, of Sewickley, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, in Sewickley Valley Hospital. Born Nov. 27, 1950, in Rochester, he was the son of the Rev. Jezreel Toliver and the late Leevy Howard Toliver, who died in October 1979. A graduate of Aliquippa High School and a 1947 graduate of Benedict College, Columbia, S.C., he was a systems analyst for CBS/Westinghouse Corp. An active member of the Triumph Baptist Church, Sewickley, he served as an organist and sang in the male chorus, ensemble, and voices. He was also the financial secretary, a member of the trustee board, and a former teacher and assistant superintendent of the Triumph Sunday school. Surviving are his wife, Nadine Denise Hauser Toliver; a son, Nathan Lamar, Coraopolis; a daughter, Narissa Lynn, at home; his father and stepmother, the Rev. Jezreel and Edna Toliver, Monongahela; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joyce and Delvert Palmer, and Hope and Reuben Fuller, all of Aliquippa; Judith T. Neely, Hyde Park, Ill. and Lydia M. Anne Elizabeth Ulizio, 78, of Erie, Pa., formerly of Midland, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in the St. Vincent Health Center, Erie. Born Feb. 24, 1920, in Wellsville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Samuel and Josephine Pozderac Krall, she was a member of St. Blaise Parish, Midland. Surviving are her husband, Renaldo Ulizio; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Cliff Hoydic, Erie; Elaine and David Huntt, Riverdale, Ga., and Anna and Gregg Eicholtz, Big Bear Lake, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Renaldo Jr. and Doreen Ulizio, Ventura, Calif.; a grandson whom she raised, Chris, and his wife, Jeanne Ulizio, Burgettstown, Pa.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Louise Pilchard and Mary Marangoni, both of Vanport. Amie Elizabeth Sarson Willy, 29, of Beaver Falls, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, in Sewickley Valley Hospital after an extended illness. Born May 12, 1969, in Sewickley, a daughter of Joel E. and Nancy Pearce Sarson, Crescent, Pa., she had been employed as a medical assistant with the Sewickley Medical Association. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Joshua Mason Willy, age 3; her maternal grandmother, Mabel W. Pearce, Sewickley; a sister, Jill L. Colussy, Mars, Pa., and a niece, Jenna Blake Colussy. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME, 328 Beaver St., Sewickley, with the Rev. Warren V. Ball Jr., 80, of 1008 Seventh Ave., Beaver Falls, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, in the Beaver Valley Geriatric Center, Brighton Township. Born April 1, 1918, in Keyser, W. Va., a son of the late Warren V. Sr. and Anna Rolls Ball, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Beaver Falls Legion Post 261. Peter J. Barilaro, 76, of Baden, formerly of Sewickley, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, in Sewickley Valley Hospital. Born March 22, 1922, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Joseph and Josephine (Iera) Barilaro, he was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church and had served in the Army Medical Corps during World War II. He had been employed by A.M. Byers of Ambridge, the Allegheny Country Club in Sewickley Heights, and the Pittsburgh Club in the William Penn. He is survived by a daughter, Sherrie Lynn Barilaro, Baden; two grandsons, John Elinsky and Josh Welling, both of Baden; his former wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Barilaro, Baden; sisters, Angie Sensenich, Irwin; Teresa and her husband, Art Petrilen, Armonk, N.Y.; four brothers and their spouses, Lupie and Marion, Sewickley; Tony and Tekela, in Germany; Jerry and Dorothy, Sewickley, and Joseph and Theresa Barilaro, Hopewell Township, and several nieces and nephews.
