Born Sept. 9, 1909, in Lebanon, a daughter of the late Habib and Tafond Sarkis Ginand, she was a homemaker and a resident of Aliquippa for 70 years. She was a member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church, Ailquippa; Maryknoll; Lebanese Club, and the Lebanon Mirdites League. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tofic Massoud, and 12 brothers and sisters. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony G. and Lelia Massoud, Dayton, Ohio, and John A. and Mary Ann Massoud, Raccoon Township; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Edward Klak, Ambridge; Elizabeth and Nicholas Williams Jr., Freedom, and Maria C. and Thomas A. Venanzio Sr., Aliquippa; 14 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DARROCH MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
Albert H. McMinn Jr., 71, of 1008 Seventh Ave., Beaver Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. Surviving is a sister, Dorothy McMinn, of Beaver Falls. His body was donated to the Human Gifts Registry.
James M. Neely, 110, a resident of Rochester for the past four years and formerly of Mississippi, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Sept. 10, 1888, in Shubutu, Miss., a son of the late Plez and Hester Isabell Neely, he was a graduate of the Tuskekee Normal School. He worked in maintenance for 40 years and was retired from the Masonite Corporation and Attorney Quitman Ross. He was formerly employed by the Barnum & Bailey Circus as a musician and Louis Armstrong. He was a member of the Stewards Board; was a Second Alley A.M.E. Union Steward, and a member of the N.A.A.C.P. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kennedy Armstrong, and a son, Charles Neely Jr., of Chicago. Surviving are two sons, James Neely, in Illinois, and Jonnie Barnes, in Mississippi; three daughters, Quendolyn Neely, in Illinois; Dorothea Barnes, in Pennsylvania, and Linda Dixon, in Mississippi; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. A song and prayer service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at his residence. Cremation will be at East Suburban Crematory, Rankin, Pa. The PERCY E. LAW JR. James Lewis Patterson, 72, of Beaver, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver, following an extended illness. Born July 3, 1926, in Slippery Rock, Pa., a son of the late Lewis Clinton and Hazel Moore Patterson, he was a resident of Beaver for the past 39 years. He retired in 1985 as a supervisor at LTV Steel, Aliquippa Works, after 32 years of service. He was Presbyterian by faith and served in the 9th U.S. Army in Central Europe and the Rhineland during World War II. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Shirley Shannon Patterson; a son and daughter-in-law, Dean James and Paige Corley Patterson, Secaucus, N.J.; a grandson, Paul James Patterson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mrs. Ruth Elaine Ryder, Grove City, Pa., and Nina and Richard Gaugler, Oklahoma City, Okla., and several nieces and nephews. Rose Marie Corsi, 77, of Hopewell Township, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, in UPMC - Beaver Valley. Born July 12, 1921, in Charleroi, Pa., a daughter of the late Nicole and Grace Trone, she attended St. Titus Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julio Corsi, in 1965; four brothers, Charles, Joseph, Michael and Anthony Trone, and a sister, Teresa Nero. Surviving are a son, John Corsi, and a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Thomas Pflug, all with whom she resided; four grandchildren, John and Nicole Pflug, Valerie Eaton, and Christina Corsi; five great-grandchildren, Trevor, Shawnna, Rachel, Jessica and Kyle, and many nieces and nephews. Jesse E. Edmunds, 77, of Economy, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in the Sewickley Valley Hospital, after an extended illness. Born Oct. 31, 1921, in Callery, Butler County, a son of the late Howard W. and Mildred Spencer Edmunds, he retired from LTV Steel, Aliquippa, on May 9, 1983, after 35 years of service and was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Ridge Road, Ambridge. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II from Aug. 4, 1942, to Oct. 21, 1945. During this time, he served in Africa, Germany, Italy, and France and attained the rank of Corporal of the Battery D 214th Anti-Aircraft Artillary Battalion. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with six Bronze Stars. He reinlisted in the United States Army for a second time in 1946 and served as Staff Sergeant until 1949. An avid lover of music, Jesse was an accomplished guitarist who played the bass guitar in Mad Anthony's band and in several clubs in the area. He also enjoyed volunteering his time and talents at local nursing homes. Surviving are his wife, Violet Cafrelli Edmunds; a son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert and Philomena Edmunds, Aliquippa; four grandchildren, Brian, Chris, Melissa and Elizabeth; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and LeVerne Edmunds, Eastvale, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Belle Bull and Betty Gerazounis, and three brothers, Leroy, Melvin, and Robert Sr. Edmunds. Friends will be received Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the GABAUER FUNERAL HOME INC. at SYLVANIA HILLS MEMORIAL PARK INC., where a service will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. Pastor Robert Fitzpatrick and Pastor Anthony J. Clifford Wallace Herron, 80, of North Sewickley Township, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, in his residence. Born Nov. 6, 1918, in Fallston, a son of the late Roy and Mary Lucas Herron, he was a former employee of the Townsend Co., and was a retired employee of the Babcock & Wilcox Co., with 25 years of service. Having served in the Army Infantry, Mr. Herron Was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Margaret Bonomo Herron; a son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Joyce Herron, North Sewickley Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Paul Jagodich, New Brighton; four grandchildren, Kim Janectic, Beaver Falls; Stacy Janectic, Aliquippa; Stephanie Pyle and husband, Timothy, Beaver Falls, and Clifford Brent Herron, Beaver Falls; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Lionel Turcotte, in Florida; two nieces, and a nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Brewer, and a niece, Hazel Mele. Nola Ruth Ketterer, 65, of 7461 Big Beaver Blvd., Wampum, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at 2:20 a.m. in The Medical Center, Beaver, of cancer. Born Nov. 27, 1934, in New Brighton, a daughter of the late Earl F. and Ethel M. Alberth Ketterer, she was employed as a secretary for 15 years at Queen of Heaven Roman Catholic Church, Koppel, and was a receptionist for 20 years at H.& R. Block Co., Chippewa. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Church, where she taught C.C.D., was a past officer and member of the Christian Mothers, and was a member of the choir. She was also a member and past officer of the D.C.C.W. She enjoyed reading and flower gardening. She is survived by a sister, Iris Jean Ketterer, with whom she resided. There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at 7 p.m. in Queen of Heaven Church with the Rev. Joseph Lemp officiating and the Rev. Andrew Ketterer assisting.
William M. "Beetle" Lonnett, 81, a lifelong resident of Beaver Falls, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Aug. 15, 1917, in Beaver Falls, a son of the late Frank and Rosina Barbara Lonnett, he retired in 1981 from the hot finish department of the Babcock & Wilcox Co., with 42 years of service. He was a member of Local 1082, United Steel Workers Union; Divine Mercy Parish, and a past member of the Sons of Italy, Beaver Falls. He had been very active in Beaver County sports for many years and played for the Valley Giants football team. He played softball in the B&W League; played mushball, basketball and baseball, and belonged to the Delmars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Frank Lonnett; three brothers, Charles, Louis and Anthony Lonnett, and two sisters, Mary Carvelli and Florence Riddel. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Virginia Dare Pichara Lonnett; three daughters and a son-in-law, Susan Lonnett, Largo, Fla.; Virginia "Kiki" Bailey, Beaver Falls, and Mrs. Francis (Deborah) Miklavic, Beaver Falls; five granddaughters, Jackie Monza, Beaver Falls; Mrs. Larry (Christina) Williams, Pinellas Park, Fla.; Suzanne Lonnett, Largo, Fla.; Mrs. Daniel D.J. (Virginia Jeanine) Kirkpatrick, New Galilee, and Nicole Leigh Miklavic, Beaver Falls; a brother, Joseph Lonnett, Brighton Township; a great-granddaughter, Kacie Danielle Kirkpatrick, New Galilee, and several nephews and nieces. Alexander Walter Mann, 86, of Jonestown, Texas, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, in his sleep. The last sibling of Thomas and Bertha Mann, he was a resident of Aliquippa for 60 years prior to moving to Jonestown. While in Aliquippa, he was employed at the Jones & Laughlin Steel Company and the Aliquippa Golf Course. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Teddy. Surviving are his daughters, Marilyn Mann, Jonestown, Texas; Janice Mann Hallisey, Streamwood, Ill.; Joyce Mann Costanza, Canton, Mich.; Carol Mann Bridges, Jonestown, Texas, and Cheryl Mann Hardin, Hurtsboro, Ala.; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Mann willed his remains to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
