James R. Riddle, 62, of Rochester Township, passed away, Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at his residence. Born April 19, 1936, in Rochester, a son of the late Victor Ullicny and Helen Riddle Vandergrift, he was a self-employed machinist and construction engineer with the Riddle Manufacturing Co. of Rochester Township. He was Protestant by faith, and was a former member and past commander of the U.S. Power Squaderon of Beaver County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adopted parents who had raised him, Harry S. and Agnes Tucker Riddle. He is survived by his wife, Judith Ann Smith Riddle; a son, J. Jeffrey Riddle, Rochester Township, and two granddaughters, Jillian Renae and Jade Victoria Riddle, Kiln, Miss. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester, where a service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Singleton of the Rochester Free Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township.

Stephen T. Siget Sr., 70, of Rochester, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in Rochester Manor. A son of Mildred Vuynovich Siget, of Rochester, and the late Ivan Siget, he was a retired foreman with Conrail and was a member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Rochester. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Stella Gurski Siget; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Terry Siget, Industry, and Daniel and Rita Siget, Chippewa Township; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ellen and John Fioravanti, Bedford, Texas; Diana and Sam Colalella, Georgetown, Ky., and Lori Gula, Ohioville; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and Lindsey Fioravanti, Nicole Livingston, Sharon Colalella, Stephen and Melissa Siget, and Selena and Frank Gula; a great-grandson, Nathaniel Hoffman; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Dorothy Siget, Conway, and Michael and Sophia Siget, Center Township; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Diana and Roy Bigler, Murrysville, Pa., and Mary Ann and Verdane Brown, Rochester Township; a sister-in-law, Helen Siget, Rochester, and a brother-in-law, Norman Kurhansky, Industry. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Siget, and a sister, Dorothy Kurhansky. A prayer service will be conducted today at 9:30 a.m. in the HUNTSMAN ROCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, 502 Adams St., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Beaver Cemetery.

George H. Spoa, 84, of 115 Spring Ave., Ellwood City, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at 2:06 p.m. in the Beaver Valley Geriatric Center following a lengthy illness. Born May 6, 1914, in Macedonia, a son of the late Hristo Spoa and Vasilica Tsingara, he was a resident of Ellwood City since 1947, and was a member of St. Elias Romanian Orthodox Church. He was a retired produce manager for Spoa's Markets, and was employed at the Ellwood Glass Company from 1950 to 1967. Surviving are his wife, Anna Molnar Spoa, whom he married June 22, 1947; a son, George M. Spoa, Portage, Ind.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Larry (Barbara) Koch, Monaca; two brothers, Costa "Gus" Spoa, Ellwood City, and Mita Spoa, Bitola, Macedonia; four grandchildren, June and Kimberly Spoa, and Erin and Danie Koch, and five sisters and five brothers. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the SAMUEL TEOLIS FUNERAL HOME, 309 Spring Ave., Ellwood City. The body will lie in state Tuesday from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. in St. Elias Church, with Archpriest Panteleimon Stanciu officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery. Saracusta services will be held today at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Elsie R. Steiner, 72, of Beaver Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, in the Beaver Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Beaver Township. Born May 30, 1926, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late William J. and Anna M. Slavik Steiner, she attended the College Hill United Methodist Church. A graduate of the Providence Hospital Nursing School, she was a registered nurse and anesthetist at The Medical Center, Beaver, until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the Providence Hospital Alumnae Association and a former member of the Sweet Adelines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anna W. Steiner, on Dec. 25, 1991. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the CAMPBELL'S BEAVER FALLS FUNERAL HOME, 14th Street and Eighth Avenue, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Edward A. Schoeneck officiating. Private interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Chippewa Township. Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to the College Hill United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 313, Beaver Falls, Pa. 15010.

Samuel "Sam" Walls, 70, a resident of Coraopolis for the past 42 years and formerly of Imperial, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, in Sewickley Valley Hospital. Born Feb. 26, 1929, in Imperial, a son of the late Addison and Cora (Engle) Walls, he was a machinist. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant from 1948-1952. Surviving are his daughter and her husband, Stacey and Richard Martin, Coraopolis: two granddaughters, Megan and Danielle Martin, and a sister, Josephine Presley, Imperial. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the COPELAND CORAOPOLIS FUNERAL HOME, 867 Fifth Ave. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeffrey Sterling. Burial will be private.

Hugh Gregg Zimmer, of Chippewa Township, formerly of Nichols, N.Y., died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born in Union, N.Y., he was a retired president and CEO of the Nichols National Bank. He had been on the Board of Directors of the Community Bank of DeWitt, N.Y. until his retirement in 1998. A member of the Nichols United Methodist Church, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion Post 1624 of Nichols, N.Y., the Westbrook Lodge 333 of Nichols, N.Y., Consistory A.A.S.R. the Valley of Binghamton, Binghamton, N.Y., and Kalurah Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Betty Zimmer; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Dr. Anthony E. Latagliata, Chippewa Township; two grandchildren, Anthony and Allison Latagliata, Chippewa Township; a brother, Richard Zimmer, Johnson City, N.Y.; two sisters, Marion Jacobs, Binghamton, N.Y., and Russeline Harned, Orlando, Fla, and several nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to the Carnegie Free Library, 1301 Seventh Ave., Beaver Falls, Pa. 15010. CAMPBELL'S CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 2618 Darlington Road, was in charge of all arrangements.

James J. Amato, 76, of Shields Lane, Edgeworth, died Monday, March 1, 1999, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born March 8, 1922, in Ambridge, a son of the late Domenick and Jennie Roppo Amato, he was a resident of Edgeworth for the past 46 years and was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Sewickley. He was the owner and operator of Amato Music of Ambridge. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Leetsdale VFW; Sewickley American Legion; Ambridge SOI, and Coraopolis Elks. An avid golfer, he was a life member of Beaver Lakes Country Club, Aliquippa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Scarpino, in 1994. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Shaw Amato; a son and daughter-in-law, James D. and Lynne Amato, Sewickley; three daughters and a son-in-law, Ruth and Gary Werb, Ben Avon, and Jenny DeGori and Donna Amato, both of Edgeworth; seven grandchildren, James and Adrian DeGori, Matthew and Michael Werb, Gabrielle and Emily Amato, and Hugh Rice; a sister, Victoria Massi, Las Vegas, Nev., and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received today and Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a service will be conducted Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church, Sewickley, concelebrated by Father Ben Mwangi and Father George DeVille. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery, Sewickley Heights.

Bertha (Avolio) Augustine, 77, of Aliquippa, died Monday, March 1, 1999, in UPMC - Beaver Valley. Born Oct. 23, 1921, in Aliquippa, she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Philomena (DeChellis) Avolio. Mrs. Augustine was a member of St. Titus Catholic Church and attended the St. Joseph Worship Site in West Aliquippa. Surviving are her husband, Joseph G. Augustine; a daughter, Sandra L. McFadden, and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Robert McFadden, all of Villanova, Pa.; three brothers, Phillip Avolio, Ambridge; Ralph Avolio, West Aliquippa, and George Avolio, Coraopolis; three sisters, Lucy Joyce and Rose Arnold, both of Hopewell Township, and Mafalda Vukovcan, West Aliquippa, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Pat Avolio. There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Joseph Worship Site, West Aliquippa. The WAYNE N. TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME, 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, is handling arrangements.

Melanee "Polly" Cobb, of 717 Grove St., Aliquippa, died Monday, March 1, 1999, in UPMC - Beaver Valley. Complete arrangements will be announced at a later date by the GOODEN & BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 214 Fifth Ave., Aliquippa.

Judith Elizabeth Corbin, 28, a lifelong resident of Big Beaver, died Monday, March 1, 1999, in the emergency room of The Medical Center, Beaver. Born March 26, 1970, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of Ralph Corbin and Ella Mae Lindsay Corbin, of Big Beaver, she was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are paternal grandparents, Ralph A. and Evelyn Marie Toth Corbin, Darlington Township; maternal grandfather, John Lindsay, Big Beaver; a sister, Rachel Anne Corbin, at home, and aunts and uncles, John Lindsay, Marcella Urgitus, Mary Hall, Betty Roush, Marlene Market, Kenneth Corbin and Judy Lindner. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ethel Lindsay, and an uncle, James Lindsay. Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LUTTON CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 117 Blackhawk Road, where a service will be conducted Friday. Time of service will be announced in Thursday's Times. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver.
