Obituaries by LocationFuneral services for the late Anna Gertrude (Mrs. Lorne) Ward will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chippewa United Methodist Church. Her pastor, the Rev. James Tubbs, will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in CAMPBELL'S CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME. Mrs. Ward died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, in Franciscan Manor, where she had been a resident for a month. She was 81 years old. A native of Beaver Falls, she had been a resident of Patterson Arms for many years after the death of her husband in 1980. Before that she resided in Chippewa Township. She was a daughter of the late Ruth Moltrup Ward and Frederick F. Ward. She married Lorne Ward in 1941. Mrs. Ward was a member of the Chippewa United Methodist Church and was very active in the Wesleyan Circle of the church. She also was a member of the Patterson Heights Book Club, the New Century Club of Beaver Falls, and the Women's Auxiliary of the Salvation Army. A graduate of Beaver Falls High School and of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., she had worked briefly in the office of Moltrup Steel Products Co., Beaver Falls, before devoting her time as a homemaker for her husband and children. Mrs. Ward is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Ward Pizzuto and her husband, Gary, of Tucson, Ariz.; a son and daughter-in-law, James T.M. Ward and his wife, Nancy, of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren, Kathryn Anne Pizzuto of Tucson, and Patrick and Jennifer Ward of Las Vegas; an aunt, Margaret Moltrup (Mrs. Eugene F.) Jannuzi, of Patterson Heights; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Walter S. (Helen) Ward, Chippewa Township, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and her parents, Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Newell and Mrs. Barbara Walter. The family suggests contributions to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
Mary S. Wasko, 101, formerly of Ambridge, died Monday, March 1, 1999, in the Beaver Valley Nursing Center, Chippewa Township. Born Nov. 17, 1897, in Mount Pleasant, Pa., a daughter of the late John and Mary Dzurille Shulick, she was a member of the former Divine Redeemer Catholic Church and was a former member of the Rosary Society of the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Wasko, on Jan. 13, 1930; three brothers, John Shulick Jr., on Dec. 28, 1996; John G. Shulick, in October 1968, and Andrew Shulick, in November 1956, and a sister, Susan Shulick, in November 1942. Surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the PAUL E. BOHN FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in the Good Samaritan Parish, St. Stanislaus Worship Site. Interment will follow in Good Samaritan Cemetery, Divine Redeemer Site.
George William Bable, 59, of Freedom, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, in his residence. Born Aug. 20, 1939, in Darlington, a son of the late Harry and Mildred (McGowan) Bable, he had worked as a laborer in a ship building yard. Surviving are his loving wife, Connie Lee (Wingrove) Bable; a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Stephen (April) King, Hull, Mass.; four sons and three daughters-in-law, George G. Bable, in Michigan; Kenneth and Christine Bable, Dorchester, Mass.; Thomas and Annie Wingrove, Freedom, and George and Elizabeth Wingrove, Connellsville, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Kelly King, Brian and Robin Bable, Thomas Wingrove, Devon Wingrove, Dawnhel Wingrove and Kylee Wingrove; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Richard H. Bable; Thomas and Jesse Bable, Beaver Falls, and Paul and Carol Bable, Enon Valley, and several nieces and nephews. There was no public visitation. LACOCK CREMATION SERVICE of Rochester was in charge of arrangements.
Betty J. Snitger Brashears, 82, of Monacatootha Apartments, Monaca, formerly of Marion Hill, New Brighton, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver, following a brief illness. Born Nov. 25, 1916, in Beaver, a daughter of the late Howard Vernon and Catherine Vanard Snitger, she had been a resident of Monaca since 1989 having formerly resided in New Brighton. She retired in 1992 as a counter clerk at DeAngelis Donut Shops after 38 years of service, and was a 1935 graduate of Beaver High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Brashears Sr., on March 7, 1977; a son, Robert C. Brashears Jr., on June 14, 1986, and a brother, Robert Snitger. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John H. and Pam Brashears, Moody, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lois Brashears, Brighton Township; a brother, James H. Snitger, Beaver; a sister, Mrs. Gloria Nudi, Freedom; four grandchildren, Mark Brashears, Waldorf, Md.; Robin Brashears, Ocean City, Md., and Rebecca and Amanda Brashears, Mesa, Ariz., and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Marisa Brashears, Waldorf, Md. Frank V. Calabro, 81, of Springfield, Mass., owner of the former Six Corners Jewelers on Walnut Street, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, in Niantic, Conn. He owned the store from 1956-1990 when he retired. Born in Ellwood City, he moved to Springfield in 1952 and was a communicant of Holy Family Church. He was a graduate of Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute of Pittsburgh where he taught watch repair for seven years. He was also the former president of the Watchmakers Association of Springfield. His wife, the former Daisy Tepsic died in 1990. He leaves two sons, Brother (Dominic) Donald, of the Society of St. Paul, Staten Island, N.Y., and Robert A., North Stonington, Conn.; two brothers, Guy and Anthony Calabro, Aliquippa; four sisters, Margaret Palen and Antoinette Taglieri, Aliquippa; Angelina Pierce, Branford, Conn., and Jennie Mariano, East Haven, Conn., and two grandchildren. The funeral was held Tuesday morning from TAZZINI FUNERAL HOME, 22 Locust St., Springfield, Mass., with a Mass in Holy Family Church. Burial followed in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield. Judith Elizabeth Corbin, 28, a lifelong resident of Big Beaver, died Monday, March 1, 1999, in the emergency room of The Medical Center, Beaver. Born March 26, 1970, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of Ralph Corbin and Ella Mae Lindsay Corbin, of Big Beaver, she was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are paternal grandparents, Ralph A. and Evelyn Marie Toth Corbin, Darlington Township; maternal grandfather, John Lindsay, Big Beaver; a sister, Rachel Anne Corbin, at home, and aunts and uncles, John Lindsay, Marcella Urgitus, Mary Hall, Betty Roush, Marlene Market, Kenneth Corbin and Judy Lindner. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ethel Lindsay, and an uncle, James Lindsay. Virginia Irene Cunnard, 82, formerly of Leetsdale, died Monday, March 1, 1999, in the Valley Care Nursing Home. Born Sept. 23, 1916, in Sewickley, a daughter of the late John Jacob Greney and Savilla Fry, she lived in the Sewickley area all of her life and had attended Edgeworth, Sewickley and Leetsdale schools. Mrs. Cunnard attended Chesebrough Seminary in North Chili, N.Y., for two years, was a retired licensed practical nurse from the Sewickley Valley Hospital, where she worked for 16 years. She was a member of the Sewickley Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for 43 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Cunnard, on May 11, 1983. Surviving are four sons, John J. Cunnard, Economy; Walter David Cunnard and David Russell Cunnard, both of Glenfield, and Kenneth Allen Cunnard, Ambridge; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the RICHARD D. Elizabeth Alice Leadman, 72, of Syke Street, Winnabow, N.C., died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at 2 p.m. in the Brunswick Cove Nursing Home, Leland, N.C. Born Jan. 22, 1927, in her home in Monaca, Pa., a daughter of the late Walter Sr. and Viola Reynolds, she had been a resident of Center Township for 60 years. She was a housewife and a waitress at the Monaca Inn, Monaca. While in Beaver County, she was a member of the Van Kirk Lutheran Church, Center Township; Ladies Auxiliary to Volunteer Fire Department 3, Center Township, and the FOE in Monaca and Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Leadman Sr.; a daughter, Frances Leadman, and two brothers, Thomas Morris and Walter Reynolds. Surviving are three sons, Robert M. Jr., James E. and Joseph R. Leadman, all of Winnabow, N.C.; three daughters, Linda Mullens and Judy Galloway, both of Winnabow, and Karen Bango, Rochester; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Earl and George Reynolds, both of Center Township, and Darius Reynolds, Wilmington, N.C., and three sisters, Sabina Zeiber, Center Township; Violet Lubert, Freedom, and Viola Radovich, Winnabow, N.C. Lucas of Golden, Colo., and the late Marc Lucas; sister of Joseph Biedenbach, and grandmother of Dylan Lucas. Clara Mae Cowie Mason, 73, of Beaver Falls, died Monday, Mar. 1, 1999, in the Providence Health Care Center. Born Oct. 5, 1925, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late Raymond and Hilda Bartel Cowie, she was a member of the First Reformed Presbyterian Church, the Women's Auxiliary to the Disabled American Veterans, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie L. Mason, in 1994; an infant daughter, Cindy Mason, in 1960; a sister, Ruth Cowie, and a brother, Raymond Cowie.
