Born Oct. 17, 1911, in Ambridge, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Chal) Holod, she was a homemaker and a former member of St. John Roman Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Jones Sr.; a son, Howard L. Jones Jr.; a sister, Ann Scheen, and a brother, Frank Holod. She is survived by her beloved children, five daughters and three sons-in-laws, Shirley and Joseph Funk, Manassas, Va.; Ruth and Mike Yankello, Sewickley; Janet and Louise Jones, both of Sewickley, and Alice and Joseph Pavlik, Pittsburgh, and five sons and three daughters-in-law, Joseph B. and Kitty Jones, Baden; Donald J. and Marion Jones, Merrels Isle, S.C.; Kenneth A. and Barbara Jones, Mason, Ohio; John E. Jones, Pacolma, Calif., and Andrew Jones, N. Riverside, Ill; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the COPELAND SEWICKLEY IRVINE CHAPEL, 702 Beaver St., where a service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Thomas Moog officiating. Burial will follow in Sewickley Cemetery.
Frank Kislosky, 84, of Georgetown, died Friday evening, March 5, 1999, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Aug. 9, 1914, in Coalton, W.Va., a son of the late John and Frances Kasp Kislosky, he was a self-employed general contractor. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Assembly Hall, East Liverpool Congregation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Albina S. Kukulinski Kislosky, on April 18, 1996, and a brother, Michael Kislosky, on Jan. 21, 1990. Surviving are three brothers, John Kislosky, Imperial, and Stanley and Chester Kislosky, both of Georgetown; two sisters, Mary Hartzer, Imperial, and Helen Kislosky, Georgetown, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Rte. 30, Clinton, Pa., where a service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Hopewell-Hebron Cemetery.
Faye Ann Lako, 47, of County Airport Road, East Liverpool, Ohio, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, in her residence. Born Nov. 18, 1951, in Salem, Ohio, a daughter of John and Loretta Dugan Falkner, Rodgers, Ohio, she was self-employed, owning her own cleaning service. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, William R. Lako; a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Ann and Robert James Witlash II, Weirton, W.Va.; a grandson, Robert James Witlash; four brothers, Jerry Falkner, in Florida; Gary Falkner, in Pennsylvania; Ed Falkner, in Georgia, and Raymond Falkner, in Ohio; a sister, Trudy Mitchell, in California, and her best friends, John and Donna Relich, Monaca. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the D.L. WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 848 Midland Ave., Midland, where a service will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Raselyn K. Johnson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Midland, will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Industry.
John M. "Jungie" Malackanich, 57, of Hopewell Township, died Friday, March 5, 1999, in his home. Born Sept. 17, 1941, in West Aliquippa, a son of the late John and Elizabeth Pegula Malackanich, he was a conductor with Conrail. He was a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and was an avid fisherman. Surviving are his wife, Louise Morgan Malackanich; four sons, John, Beaver Falls; Gregory, Meriden, Conn., and Brian and Shawn, both of Aliquippa; a daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Don Marovich, Baden; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, Alexander, Alexis, Dustin, Corey, Jenna, Kelli, Kirsten, and Joseph, and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dolores and Dominic Minnici, Center Township, and Rosemarie and Anthony DiSanzo, Freedom. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Malackanich, and a sister, Pauline. Friends will be received today and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the HUNTSMAN ALIQUIPPA FUNERAL HOME, 2345 Mill St., where a Parastas service will be conducted Tuesday at 9:15 a.m., followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. George Byzantine Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Blessing service will be conducted Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Laura R. Miller, 77, of 506 Fifth St., Darlington, passed away Saturday, March 6, 1999, at 4:25 p.m. in the Butler VA Hospital, Butler, following a lengthy illness. Born Aug. 23, 1921, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late Philip and Mariah Fenton Luraghi, she resided in the Beaver Falls/Darlington area most of her life. She was Roman Catholic by faith. She was preceded in death on July 9, 1995, by her husband, John Miller, whom she married Jan. 30, 1954; a sister, Mrs. Florence Evanson, and two brothers, John and Ellsworth Luraghi. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Dugan, East Palestine, Ohio; a son, John Miller, Ogden, Utah; five sisters, her twin, Mrs. Marie Rice, Miss Kay Luraghi, and Mrs. Ruth McCormick, all of Beaver Falls; Sister Marie Luraghi, Midland, and Mrs. Norma Jean Hands, Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, James Luraghi, New Galilee; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the OLIVER-LINSLEY FUNERAL HOME, 644 E. Main St., East Palestine, Ohio, where a service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Daniel Cipar, M.S.C., of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, East Palestine.
Winona "Dolly" McClester Patton, 81, of New Brighton, died Friday, March 5, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Oct. 27, 1915, in Edgeworth, Pa., a daughter of the late John D. and Lucretia Kaufman McClester, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Brighton, where she was a past president of the Presbyterian Womens Association and a former treasurer and elder of the church. She was a member of Wemonah Chapter 124 Order of Eastern Star, Beaver Falls, and Past Worthy Matron of Brighton Chapter 173 Order of Eastern Star, New Brighton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Patton, in January 1983, and two brothers, Kenneth and Ralph McClester. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Dawn Patton Jr., and two grandchildren, Jodi Ann Patton and Robert Andrew Patton, all of St. Clairsville, Ohio. Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DONALD D. DRUSCHEL FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brigbhton, where a service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. by her pastor, the Rev. Richard A. Pfeil. Interment will be in Grove Cemetery, New Brighton. An Eastern Star service will be conducted Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Kathleen Pietrandrea, 32, of Aliquippa, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in her residence. Born Nov. 3, 1966, in Slymor, Calif., she was the daughter of Bertha Schmidt, Bonnieville, Ky. Mrs. Pietrandrea is survived by her ex-husband, Michael Pietrandrea, a son, Joseph Pietrandrea, and a daughter, Nicole Pietrandrea, all of Ellwood City; three brothers, Frank and Ned Sawyer, both in California, and Fred Sawyer, in Tennessee, and a sister, Jeannie Schmidt, in California. A private service will be conducted Monday, March 8, 1999, in the WAYNE N. TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME, 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa.
Marcella M. Powers, 82, of 15032 Richardson Ave., Negley, Ohio, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at 3:30 a.m. in The Medical Center, Beaver, following a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 23, 1917, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late Henry and Eliza May Schutte, she was a resident of Negley for 45 years after moving there from Beaver Falls. She was a manager for the former Murphy's 5 & 10 in Beaver for 15 years and was a homemaker. She attended Negley United Methodist Church and was a member of the East Palestine 381 Order of the Eastern Star and the Negley Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death on Jan. 23, 1986, by her husband, Edward W. Powers, whom she married June 28, 1943; two sisters, Mrs. Leoda McKenna and Mrs. Dorothy Eisler, and two brothers, Charles and Raymond Schutte. Surviving are her brother-in-law, Robert Powers, Columbiana, Ohio; seven nieces, Sandra Callahan, Cynthia Howe, Betty Jane Churay, Mary Gullixson, Valerie Mayo, Roberta Harrison, and Judith Long; six nephews, Nelson Eisler, Charles Schutte, Raymond Schutte, Ronald Schutte, Edward Schutte, and James Powers, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the VAN DYKE-SWANEY FUNERAL HOME, 60 West Martin St., East Palestine, Ohio. Friends may also call one hour before the service on Wednesday at noon in the funeral home. Dr. Ronald L. Huff, of the First United Methodist Church of Columbiana, will officiate. Burial will follow in Beaver Cemetery, Beaver.
Stella N. Scheidmantel, 92, of Rochester Township, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Jan. 12, 1907, in Beaver, a daughter of the late Frank and Frances Piersol Neely, she was a retired elementary teacher in the Rochester Area School District and other Beaver County school districts. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Rochester; a former teacher with the Ladies Bible Class; past president of the Beaver County PTA, and a member of the Beaver County Child Study Club, Rochester Woman's Club and the D.A.R. A graduate of Beaver High School, she received her teaching degree from Geneva College. Surviving are her husband, Paul E. Scheidmantel Sr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Benjamin Wescott, Fairfax, Va., and Marleigh and Dan Zimmerman, Brighton Township; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul E. "Skip" Jr. and Marty Scheidmantel, Beaver; three grandsons, Kent Shutey, Canton, Ohio; Douglas Wescott, Fairfax, Va., and Paul E. Scheidmantel III, Beaver; two granddaughters, Amy Petterson, Macomb Township, Mich., and Megan Scheidmantel, Beaver, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Frances McCoy, Wynola Morgan, Laurene Neely and Ethelyn Faris, and a brother, Benjamin Neely. Friends will be received today from noon to 3 p.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester, where services will be held today at 4 p.m. Her pastor, the Rev. Frank Churchill, will officiate. Interment will follow in Beaver Cemetery. The family wishes contributions be made, if desired, to the Alzheimer Alliance of Western Pennsylvania, 5180 Campbells Run Road, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Florence "Pony" Arent Smith, 79, of West Mayfield and formerly of Chippewa Township, died Friday, March 5, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Feb. 27, 1920, in New Brighton, a daughter of the late James and Mabel Guy Ayers, she was a bookkeeper for the Valley Sportsmen Store, Beaver Falls. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Beaver Falls and the Wenonah Chapter 124 O.E.S. An avid golfer, she belonged to two leagues at the Blackhawk Golf Course. Surviving are her husband of 20 years, Ralph H. Smith; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Sue and Curt McKenny, Gary, Ind.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Phyllis Arent, Youngstown, Ohio, and Ray and Leslie Arent, Long Island, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; a half-brother, John Mahon, Beaver Falls, and a half-sister, Catherine DeVincent, Miami, Fla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnet A. Arent, in 1974; a sister, Katheryn Mikon, and a half-brother, William Mahon. Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the CAMPBELL'S CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 2618 Darlington Rd., where a service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David R. Saylor, of the First Lutheran Church of Beaver Falls, officiating. Interment will follow in Beaver Falls Cemetery, Chippewa Township.
