Born Oct. 27, 1915, in Edgeworth, Pa., a daughter of the late John D. and Lucretia Kaufman McClester, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Brighton, where she was a past president of the Presbyterian Womens Association and a former treasurer and elder of the church. She was a member of Wemonah Chapter 124 Order of Eastern Star, Beaver Falls, and Past Worthy Matron of Brighton Chapter 173 Order of Eastern Star, New Brighton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Patton, in January 1983, and two brothers, Kenneth and Ralph McClester. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Dawn Patton Jr., and two grandchildren, Jodi Ann Patton and Robert Andrew Patton, all of St. Clairsville, Ohio. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DONALD D. DRUSCHEL FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, where a service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. by her pastor, the Rev. Richard A. Pfeil. Interment will be in Grove Cemetery, New Brighton. John C. (Skip) Skocich Sr., 59, of New Brighton, went home to be with his Lord after a brief illness on Saturday, March 6, 1999. Born Dec. 17, 1939, in Conway, a son of the late John and Lillian Thiel Skocich, he was the owner of Allen Paving Co., and a member of the Conway Sportsman's Club, the National Rifle Association, and was Presbyterian by faith. He is survived by his wife, Judy White Skocich; two sons and daughters-in-law, John C. and Kathy Skocich Jr., and Jeffrey F. and Dawn Skocich; two grandsons, John C. Skocich III and Jeffrey F. Skocich Jr.; two granddaughters, Tabitha M. Skocich and Caitlyn M. Skocich, all of North Sewickley Township; three brothers and a sister-in-law, James S. Skocich, Virginia Beach, Va.; Robert C. Florence "Pony" Arent Smith, 79, of West Mayfield and formerly of Chippewa Township, died Friday, March 5, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Feb. 27, 1920, in New Brighton, a daughter of the late James and Mabel Guy Ayers, she was a bookkeeper for the Valley Sportsmen Store, Beaver Falls. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Beaver Falls and the Wenonah Chapter 124 O.E.S. An avid golfer, she belonged to two leagues at the Blackhawk Golf Course. Surviving are her husband of 20 years, Ralph H. Smith; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Sue and Curt McKenny, Gary, Ind.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Phyllis Arent, Youngstown, Ohio, and Ray and Leslie Arent, Long Island, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; a half-brother, John Mahon, Beaver Falls, and a half-sister, Catherine DeVincent, Miami, Fla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnet A. Arent, in 1974; a sister, Katheryn Mikon, and a half-brother, William Mahon. H. Eileen Powers Soman, 73, of Fair Oaks, Pa., went to be with Her Lord, and husband Charles, on Friday, March 5, 1999, after losing a hard fought battle with cancer in her home. Born Nov. 7, 1925, in North Braddock, Pa., a daughter of the late Walter and Catherine McQuigen Powers, she had lived in the Quaker Valley area for 60 years. She was a former employee of Bethlehem Steel; a member of Good Samaritan Parish, and also the former Divine Redeemer Catholic Church. She was a member of the Christian Mothers of the church. She was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed any and all sports that either her children or her grandchildren participated in. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Soman, March 8, 1988, and a brother, Jack Powers, in 1988. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chuck Jr. and Laura Soman, Fair Oaks, and Terry Soman, at home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Raymond (Charleen) Bolea, Moon Township, and Mrs. Jonathan (Alicia) Armstrong, Coraopolis; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Ruth Powers, St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Betty Lou Powers Megos, in Connecticut; a sister-in-law, Elsie Sevcik, Hopewell Township, and 11 grandchildren, Zachary, Allison and Tayler Bolea; Emily, Jonathan and Racheal Armstrong; Brian and Mitchell Soman, and Cassie, Ashley and Samantha Soman. Mary M. Torhan, 67, of Ambridge, died Saturday morning, March 6, 1999, in the home of her son in Moon Township. Born Aug. 19, 1931, in New York City, N.Y., she was a former employee of Armco Steel Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Torhan, on May 16, 1986, and a son, Michael Torhan, on March 1, 1988. Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law, David Torhan, Ambridge; Frank and Cathy Torhan, Baden; Ken Torhan, Tempe, Ariz., and John and Mary Torhan, Moon Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Steve Murr, Hopewell Township; seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Don Wilson, pastor of Christ Church of Grove Farm will officiate. Curtiss W. Beighley, 66, of HCR 1, Leeper, Pa., died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in his home. Born April 26, 1932, in Washington, Pa., a son of Harry and Ruth Leslie Beighley, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Babcock and Wilcox Tubular Products Division from 1947 until 1979. Mr. Beighley was a member of the New Galilee VFW and enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He is survived by three sons, Harry DeWayne Beighley, New Castle; William Euguene Beighley, Gambrills, Md., and David Carroll Beighley, New Castle; a daughter, Mrs. John (Mary Catherine) Yaria, Monaca; a life companion, Jonatha Ochs, and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Marshall; two sisters, Iona Beighley and Rosie Beighley, and two brothers, Alvah Beighley and Russell Beighley. Born in Winslow Township on Nov. 12, 1905, to the late Charles Azel and Mary Alice (Hiles) Cochran, she was a homemaker and formerly of Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Brown. She is survived by her son and his wife, Donald W. and Donna Brown, Moon Township, and two grandchildren, Dawn Cable, Powder Spring, Ga., and Mark A. Brown, Greensburg, Pa. Born July 24, 1906, in New Brighton, she was a homemaker, a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church, and the Wenonah Chapter, 124 O.E.S. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert T. Buchholz, in 1985, and two brothers. Surviving are her daughter, Theodora Roberts, Patterson Township; a granddaughter and her husband, Daphne and Vince Curtis, Pittsburgh, and many nieces and nephews and loving friends. Robert F. Cory, 87, of Chippewa Township, died Sunday, March 7, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Nov. 18, 1911, in Gas City, Ind., a son of the late Floyd and Clara Burgess Cory, he was an automobile dealer for Cory Oldsmobile and Cadillac in Beaver Falls. He was a member of the Chippewa United Methodist Church; Parian Lodge 662 F&AM, and Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. A graduate of Bethany College, he served on the Bethany College Board of Trustees, Emeritus, and was a former president of the Beaver Falls Chamber of Commerce. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine M. "Kitty" Cory. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Clare C. Henneman, LaCrosse, Wis., and Brooke C. and J.C. Moorhead, Vienna, Va.; four grandchildren, Douglas H. Henneman, Cory Henneman Barnes, and Robert J. and Russell C. Moorhead, and four great-grandchildren.
