Born March 10, 1920, in Big Beaver, a son of the late William and Gertrude (Meyers) Casey, he was a retired conductor for Conrail with 44 years of service. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was an aviator in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Union Lodge F&AM, New Brighton; New Castle Consistory; Beaver County Retired Mens Club, and the BPOE, Rochester. He was also a member of the Trinity Evangelical Church, New Brighton. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor D. (Shroads) Casey; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Helen Casey, Havertown, Pa., and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, where services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m., with his pastor, the Rev. Robert J. Hartman, officiating. Private interment
will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township. The family suggests memorials be made, in his name, to a charity of the donor's choice. The Beaver County Retired Mens Club will conduct a service Saturday at 3:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
Attilio Peter D'Amico, 86, of Aliquippa, and a resident of Villa St. Joseph, Baden, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in UPMC - Beaver Valley. Born June 1, 1912, in Italy, a son of the late Peter and Antoinette (Pelino) D'Amico, he was a member of St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. Mr. D'Amico was a retired foreman from the North Mills Pipe Shop of the Aliquippa Works, Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp. Mr. D'Amico was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Ruth (Suhayda) D'Amico; a sister, Lena Pazzanita, and a brother, Joseph D'Amico. Surviving are a son, Peter A. D'Amico; a daughter and son-in-law, Marlene "Cookie" and Edward Pontis; three loving grandchildren, Edward D. and Carol Pontis, Kimberly and Colan Alford, and Peter M. D'Amico; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Dustin and Kimberly Pontis; a sister, Biondi Paluzzi; a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Audrey D'Amico, and several nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted today at 9 a.m. in the MASTRO-FRANCESCO FUNERAL HOME, 21st and McMinn Streets, Aliquippa, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Titus Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Township.
Lottie Davis, 86, of Beaver Falls, passed away Thursday, March 11, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Orthodox Church, Beaver Falls, and retired in 1977 from the former Westinghouse Electric Company as an adjuster after 22 years of service. Vincent E. D'Itri Jr., 73, of 54 Park Place East, Midland, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Sept. 30, 1925, in Midland, a son of the late Vincent D'Itri Sr. and Maria Steff D'Itri, he was a 1944 graduate of Midland High School. He served in the Army from 1945 to 1947 during World War II in Europe, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was a 1948 graduate of the Pennsylvania Merchandising Academy in Ambridge and joined Midland's Volunteer Fire Department in 1948, where he was promoted to Fire Chief in 1957 through 1966 and remained a charter member. He joined the Midland Police Department in 1950, where he was promoted to sergeant in 1960 and appointed Chief of Police in 1966 until his retirement in 1981. He worked for Sargent Electric Company at the Beaver Valley Power Station from 1981 to 1989, where he held the position of Safety and Security Supervisor. He was a coach for Midland Midget Football and held several community related positions, such as the Midland Emergency Management Coordinator, Borough Councilman, and a member of the Midland Municipal Water Authority Board. He was a member of the American Legion Midland Post 481; Knights of Columbus Midland Council 2005, and the Beaver Valley, Western Pennsylvania, and Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Associations. He was also a member of the St. Blaise Parish. Surviving are his wife of over 50 years, Eleanor Mereskevich D'Itri, at home; four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Celeste, Robinson Township; Michael and Windy and Dennis and Melissa, all of Midland, and Daniel and Kim, Koppel; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bernadette and Richard Raich, Industry, and Constance D'Itri, Midland; 10 grandchildren, Mark Reich, Vincent D'Itri, Jennifer Todd, James D'Itri Jr., Elizabeth D'Itri, Danielle D'Itri, Christen D'Itri, Michael D'Itri Jr., Gregory D'Itri, and Nickolas D'Itri; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Antoinette and Archangelo Turriziani, Greensburg, Pa.; Rita and John Yurich, Midland, and Mary Zoldak, Greensburg, Pa. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the SCHWERHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 600 Beaver Ave., Midland. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, March 15, at 10 a.m. in the St. Blaise Catholic Church, Midland. The Rev. Dennis Bradley, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Beaver Cemetery, Beaver. A vigil prayer service will be held Sunday at 8:30 p.m. by the parish members in the funeral home. Joseph E. Ferrigno, 83, of 6334 Sixth Ave., Koppel, died Thursday evening at 9:10 p.m., March 11, 1999, in his residence. Born Aug. 12, 1915, in Koppel, a son of the late Nick Ferrigno and Angela Rosella Ferrigno, he was supervisor in the Maintenance Department of the Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Company, Beaver Falls, retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Ellwood City. Surviving are his wife, Hilda Bertagna Ferrigno, whom he married April 21, 1939; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph A. and Jo Ferrigno, Perry Township; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Bert) Kelly, Wayne Township, and Mrs. Linda Leitel, Naples, Fla; a brother, Lawrence Ferrigno, Kane, Pa.; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Louis, Frank "Jumbo", Anthony, and Richard Ferrigno, and four sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Conti, Mrs. Frances Scialdone, Mrs. Erma Sciote, and Mrs. Amelia Gioffre. Eileen S. Fisher, 71, of Harbel Drive, St. Clairsville, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in the Cleveland Clinic. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Clairsville; Ohio Valley Medical Center Volunteers, and the Carnation Twig, St. Clairsville. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Katherine Gillespie Schuller, and her husband, Robert C. Fisher Sr. Surviving are a son, Robert C. Fisher Jr., Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Gayle Henderson, Morgantown, W.Va.; a brother, G. Robert Schuller, in Florida; a sister, Thelma Pfleghar, New Brighton, and three grandchildren, Katherine and Steven Henderson, and Samuel Fisher. Born Oct. 23, 1941, in Aliquippa, he was a son of Jean (Orr) French, of Aliquippa, and the late Raymond N. French. Mr. French was a retired employee of the blooming mill of LTV Steel, Aliquippa. Surviving are his wife, Catherine (Anderson) French; a son, Raymond Michael French, Aliquippa; a daughter, Kelly French, New Brighton; five grandchildren, Bradley, Brittany, Ashley, Melissa and Amber French, and a sister, Lois Wilhelm, Homosassa, Fla. Mrs. Frances Brown Garansi, 80, of 225 Hazel Ave., Ellwood City, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at 8:02 a.m. in the Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle, following a lengthy illness. Born Nov. 4, 1918, in Ellwood City, a daughter of the late Adam and Julia Winchek Vincik, she was a lifelong resident of Ellwood City and was a Catholic by faith. She retired from the custodian department of the Ellwood City School District. Surviving are her husband, George Garansi, whom she married June 24, 1995; two sons, Thomas H. Brown, Ellwood City, and Robert G. Brown, Arnold, Md.; five daughters, Mrs. Patsy (Betty) Izzo, Ellwood City; Mrs. Michael (Dorothy) Burcik, Melbourne, Fla.; Mrs. Alan (Debbie) Bruner, Jacksonville, Fla.; Mrs. Kenneth (Sylvia) Grimes, Enon Valley, and Mrs. William (Kathy) Fazenbaker, Ellwood City; 24 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Adam (Fisher) Ripka; a brother, Adam J. Vincik Sr., and a sister, Mrs. Ann Patterson. Betty (Eazor) Garber, of Garland, Texas, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999. Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Beaver Falls, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Esther Eazor. She was the wife of the Rev. Henry C. Garber, retired pastor of the Flower Mound Presbyterian Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Dr. Ronald A. Garber and his wife, Martha, Coppell, Texas; a grandson, Matthew, in New York; two granddaughters, Jessica and Sage, both of Coppell, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Francis (Evelyn) Verrett, Beaver Falls, and a brother, Robert Eazor, Murrysville, Pa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Robert, on Jan. 13, 1996; four brothers, James, Andrew, Charles and Thomas, and two sisters, Emma Weigle and Jennie Pullion. Services will be held today in Texas.
Sandra Sue Graham, 53, of 6498 Stoddard-Hayes Road, Johnston, Ohio, died at 3:20 p.m. Friday, March 5, 1999, in the Trumbull Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 13, 1945, in Salem, Ohio, a daughter of George R. and Leona L. Bishop Veon. She worked as a homemaker. She married Nathan Hugh Graham, formerly of Industry, on Feb. 26, 1973. Mrs. Graham is survived by her husband; sons, Edward D. Wheaton, Johnston, and George R. Wheaton, McDonald, Ohio; a daughter, Cindy J. Hillier; stepdaughters, Jodi L. Hanczar, Beaver; Lorie K. Foster, New Brighton, and Tammi L. Davis, New Brighton; sisters, Shirley J. Birmingham, East Liverpool, Ohio; Georgia Lee Dickey, Minerva, Ohio; Janet Kleinicht, Leetonia, Ohio, and Sally J. Winterburn, East Liverpool; brothers, Richard A. Veon, East Palestine, Ohio, and Jack A. Veon, North Lima, Ohio, and 10 grandchildren. A sister, Clara Veon, and a brother, James Crothers, are deceased. Funeral services were held Monday, March 8, 1999, in the BAUMGARDNER FUNERAL HOME. Burial was in Johnston Cemetery, Johnston, Ohio.
