Born Jan. 22, 1905, in Chippewa Township, a son of the late Harry Franklin Grove and Nellie Reed Grove, he was a member of the Chippewa United Methodist Church. He retired in 1967 from the Standard Steel Company in West Mayfield; was the first Police Chief in Chippewa Township, and had been the Road Supervisor for Chippewa Township. He was a member of the Chippewa Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Sportsman Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Stinson Grove; a brother, George Grove, and five sisters, Lila Curry, Vesta Strub, Grace Harpold, Fern James and Margaret Wagoner. Surviving are two brothers, Harry "Buss" Grove, Brighton Township, and Earl Grove, North Forrestville, Md.; a sister, Lois Harris, Chippewa Township; a longtime friend, Margaret Hauer, Daugherty Township, and several nephews and nieces. Friends will be received today from 2 until 9 p.m. in the CAMPBELL'S CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 2618 Darlington Road. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Chippewa United Methodist Church, 2545 Darlington Road, with his pastor, the Rev. Jim Tubbs, officiating. Private interment

Anthony W. "Tony" Gulish, 45, of Rochester, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born May 19, 1953, in Sewickley, he was a son of Mike Gulish, of Rochester, and the late Mary Elizabeth Broderick Gulish, who passed away in 1994. He was an employee of N.F.& M. International of Monaca, where he was a grinder for 15 years. He was a member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Rochester, and Local 8148 United Steelworkers of America. Surviving, in addition to his father, are four brothers and three sisters-in-law, John J. and Donna Gulish, West Mayfield; Thomas M. and Jodie Gulish, Ohioville; Richard P. and Donna Gulish, Ohioville, and Michael D. Gulish, Pittsburgh; a sister and brother-in-law, Rita Marie and William Holzworth, Rochester; 10 nieces and nephews; a great-niece, and a great-nephew. Visitation will be private. A private Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Rochester. Interment will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Daugherty Township. Richard L. Krane, 49, a Moon Township resident for the past 25 years, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in UPMC-Passavant. Born Aug. 4, 1949, in Pittsburgh, he was an account executive for Moraine Group, Inc. in Mars, and was formerly employed by Wausau Insurance Co. for 21 years. Mr. Kane served as president of the Pinch Hitter Club for the Moon Township Baseball Association, and was a graduate of West Virginia University. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Berardi) Krane; his mother, Dorothy (Kiley) Krane, Pittsburgh, and a son, Ryan R. Krane, Moon Township. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard J. Krane. Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the COPELAND MOON TOWNSHIP FUNERAL HOME, 981 Brodhead Road. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church, with Father John Ayoob officiating. Burial will be private.
Jack H. Lanning, 80, of College Hill, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born March 3, 1919, in Darlington, a son of the late John H. Lanning and Pearl Leiper Lanning Hammerle, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a former member of the Steffen Hill United Presbyterian Church. Surviving are nine brothers and sisters, Paul Lanning, Beaver; Martha Garber, North Palm Beach, Fla.; Glenn Lanning, Tuskahoma, Okla.; Kathryn Moorhead, Beaver Falls; Vera Coleman, Hollywood, Calif.; Madelyn Warrick, New Brighton; Betsy Brown, Tucson, Ariz.; Stuart Hammerle, Ohioville, and Bruce Hammerle, Patterson Township. Friends will be received Saturday from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. in CAMPBELL'S BEAVER FALLS FUNERAL HOME, 14th Street and Eighth Avenue. Suzanna Kathleen LeRoy, 88, of New Brighton, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, in the Beaver Valley Geriatric Center, Beaver. Born March 13, 1910, in Homestead, Pa., a daughter of the late Daniel and Anna Schuster Breit, she was a member of the S.O.I. No. 1883 and the Catholic Community of Holy Family Parish, both of New Brighton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Joseph LeRoy, on Aug. 25, 1985; a brother, Daniel Breit, and three sisters, Anna Rhodes, Minnie Murray, and Freda Venuck. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Reynold Pasquale, New Brighton; six grandchildren, Brenda Cuspard and Brian Pasquale, both of New Brighton; Bruce Pasquale, Bridgewater; Bonnie Dawson, Chippewa Township; Beth Ann Sanders, Pike Creek, Texas, and Bradley Pasquale, Pittsburgh; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sara McCormick and Jennie Russell, both of Beaver Falls, and a brother, Martin Breit, Portland, Ore. James Mahurt, 81, of Penn Avenue, Midland, was called into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Aug. 25, 1917, in Beckley, W.Va., a son of the late George and Annie Mahurt, he was a resident of Midland for the past 50 years. He was an active member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Midland, where he served as Trustee and former Chairman of the Trustee Board. He was a retired employee of Crucible Steel Colt Industries with 34 years of service. He was also a member of the TOPS Club and the Sr. Citizens Group, both of Midland. He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife of 50 years, Willa Allen Mahurt; a loving daughter and son-in-law, Tracy Lynn and Kevin Butler, Oakdale, Pa.; two dedicated sons and two daughters-in-law, James and Charlotte Mahurt, Carrollton, Texas, and Richard A. and Sarah Jane Mahurt, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; seven grandchildren, Darcy Mahurt, Matthew Mahurt, Joe Slappy, Spencer Mahurt, Aminah Butler, Logan Mahurt, and Kalondah Butler; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, Helen Dukes, Beaver Falls; George Allen and Nettie and Willie G. Andrew E. Montini, 77, of Aliquippa, died Monday, March 8, 1999, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix, Ariz. Born March 12, 1921, in Aliquippa, he was a son of the late Luigi and Palmyra (Bufalini) Montini. Mr. Montini was a member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church, Aliquippa; St. Titus Holy Name Society, and the MPI Club. He was a retired employee of LTV Steel, Tinplate Division, Aliquippa, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Colella) Montini, in 1997; two brothers, Silver and Anthony Montini, and a sister, Ann Faber. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Judy Montini, and Ed and Anne Montini, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Domenic Montini, Ambridge; a sister, Rose Bilotto, Pittsburgh, and seven grandchildren. Gino Paolini, 81, of Harmony Township, died Thursday evening, March 11, 1999, in the Medical Center, Beaver. Born April 13, 1917, in Castelvecchio Subequo, Providence L'Aquila, Italy, a son of the late Donato and Barbara Paolini, he retired in 1979 from the American Bridge Company. He was a member of Good Samaritan Parish, Christ the King Worship Site, and a member of the MTI, Aliquippa. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Isolina Paolini; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Ronald Paolini and his wife, Sheila, Aiken, S.C., and Dr. Lawrence Paolini, Palermo, N.J.; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Marissa, and Katrina Paolini, Aiken, S.C., and Nicholas and Anne Paolini, Palermo, N.J., and a sister, Giovanina Paolini, in Italy. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Mario and Anthony Paolini. There will be no public visitation. There will be a private family viewing. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Good Samaritan Parish, Christ the King Worship Site. Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township. Donna Kay (McElwain) Reeby, 55, of Castle Shannon, Pittsburgh, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, in her home. Born June 12, 1943, in Baden, she was a daughter of Sharp M. McElwain, of Baden, and the late Elvira Nippes McElwain, who died Feb. 12, 1998. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, William P. Reeby; a son, Loren A. Reeby, Sidney, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Lori Reeby) Black Jr., Downingtown, Pa.; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul A. and Olga McElwain, Denver, and a niece, Yelena. Anne R. Roby, 63, of Fifth Street, Baden, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in her home, following an extended illness. Born Dec. 21, 1935, in Glenwillard, Pa., a daughter of the late George Smith and Opha Bryant Smith of Crescent Township, she was a member of the Economy Grange. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Ray Roby, in 1990; a son, Mark A. Roby, in 1972, and two brothers, James and Kenneth Smith. Surviving are a son, Bruce W. Roby, a gunnery sergeant with the United States Marine Corps stationed at Camp LeJeune, N.C., and his wife, LouAnn; three grandchildren, Amber Olson, Elizabeth Renee Roby, and Emily Anne Roby, and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margaret and Howard Petrie, Ambridge; Helena and Gilio Lazzaretti, Harmony Township, and Judith Smith, Crescent Township.
