Born Sept. 17, 1910, in Kenezelo, Hungary, a son of the late John and Julianna (Nyiri) Egyud, he was a retired foreman in the Blast Furnace Department of the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp, Aliquippa Works. He was a member of the Plus 60 Senior Citizens Group and the S.N.P.J. Lodge, Enon Valley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie (Sercel) Egyud and two brothers. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Vickie Egyud, Robinson Township, and John (Jack) and Dolores Egyud, Hopewell Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Jerry Angelo, Hampton Township; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph and James Egyud, and a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Joseph Shematek. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the MASTRO-FRANCESCO FUNERAL HOME, 21st and McMinn Streets, Aliquippa, where a service will be conducted Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hopewell Township. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Aliquippa.
Howard R. Emler, 68, of New Brighton, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, in the emergency room of The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Dec. 7, 1930, in East Palestine, Ohio, a son of the late Howard Ray and Jetlared May Keenan Emler, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. A retired teacher, he was a member of the National Teachers Education Association. He was the owner of Three Cats Antiques for 18 years in New Brighton and moved the business into Leonard's Antiques Mall for the past two years. Surviving is his wife, Mary G. Ibele Emler. Friends will be received Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. in the LUTTON CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 117 Blackhawk Road. The Rev. Cheryl "Cheri" D. Baker Fath, of Shaler Township, died Monday, March 22, 1999. Mrs. Fath was a manager and associate realtor at Northwood Realty. An avid quilter, she was a member of the Andron Epiphanon Fraternity (a real estate society), the ladies "Bridge" group, Aruba Getaway Group and St. Mary Church, Glenshaw. Mrs. Fath was the beloved wife of James Fath; mother of Amy L. Selfick of McCandless Township; Vincent J. Fath of Collegeville, Pa., and Scott J. Fath of Shaler Township; daughter of Marion Mitchell of Beaver Falls and George O. Baker, and sister of Mark J. Mitchell of Beaver Falls and Thomas E. Mitchell of State College, Pa. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Leonard L. and Gregory Mitchell. Friends were received Wednesday in the FRANK R. PERMAN FUNERAL HOME INC., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Route 8, Shaler Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Glenshaw. Clayton C. 'Bunky' Grimes, 71, of South Beaver Township, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, at his residence. Born July 27, 1927, in Beaver, a son of the late Clayton O. and Reba Dodd Grimes, he was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, having served in World War II. He retired in 1985 from the Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Division, East Works Department, with 20 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Grimes, and two nephews, Danny and Terry Smith. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven and Valda Grimes, Beaver Falls; Specialist Clay and Elizabeth Grimes, Tacoma, Wash., and Bradley A. Grimes, Beaver Falls; three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer and Caleb Grimes; a sister, Fran Smith, Enon Valley; a devoted friend, Thaddeus "Fuzz" Long, Enon Valley, and his dear friend and neighbor, Donald Heaney, South Beaver Township. Julian Lee Hostetter, 73, of Darlington, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in his residence. Born Oct. 19, 1925, in Moundsville, W.Va., a son of the late Charles A. and Elsie E. Staten Hostetter, he was a retired employee of the Babcock & Wilcox Tubular Products Co., Beaver Falls, where he was a craneman for 37 years. He was Protestant by faith. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the East Palestine VFW. Surviving are three brothers, Gracen E. Hostetter, Pulaski Township; Donald D. Hostetter, Cleveland, Ohio, and Charles Edward Hostetter, Ellwood City; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Illa Mae and James Pendergraph, and Nadean Harpster, all of Waldorf, Md.; 10 nephews, and five nieces. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Amos A. and Francis C. Hostetter. Robert P. Lang, 80, of Moon Township, died Monday, March 22, 1999. Born Sept. 3, 1918, in Etna, Pa., he was a son of the late George and Sophie Engelman Lang. A resident of Moon Township for over 50 years, he was a general contractor. He was a member of the Coraopolis United Methodist Church; the 75th Corps of Engineers, and a 50-year member of the F&AM Woodlawn Lodge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the Headquarters Company 275th Engineering Battalion. He received the Meritorious Unit Award; American Theater Service Medal; European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, with three Bronze Stars, and Croix De Guere with Palm Medal. He was the beloved husband of Gloria Chini Lang; father of Richard Lang and his wife, Karen; Jerry Lang and his wife, Susan; Patty Kwiaticowski and her husband, Keith; Michele Brown and her husband, Jim, and Sharon Batiste and her good friend, Jeff Hughes; brother of Alberta Kennedy and Ray Lang and his wife, June, and grandfather of Leah, Derek, Tyler, Ashley, and Robert. Samuel Milanovich, 80, of 108 Radcliffe Drive, Center Township, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in his home. He is survived by his wife, Veda (Yorkich) Milanovich; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Danielle, Beaver; a daughter, Mrs. Larry (Milana) Milosh, Center Townshp, and a daughter-in-law, Christine Milanovich, in North Dakota. Reverend C.E. (Ted) Mock, of Pittsburgh, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 23, 1999. Beloved husband of Joye (Brinkman) Mock; father of Pamela Vohar (Don) and Susan Eaton (Sam); son of Pearl Mock; brother of William R. Mock; grandfather of Kara, Chip, Leah, Jessica and Tyler. Luther Franklin "Frank" Odum, 67, of New Brighton, departed this life on Monday, March 22, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. The youngest son of eight, he was born March 24, 1931, in Sylacauga, Ala., a son of the late James and Annie Arbson Odum. He was a member of the Wayman Chapel AME Church, New Brighton. He retired after 28 years of service from LTV Steel, Aliquippa, and was a member of Brighton Pioneer Elks Lodge 219, Beaver Falls. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife of 39 years, Josephine Wilson Odum; a daughter, Margaret Adair, Denver, Colo.; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Miller Roland, Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters-in-law in Alabama, and a host of loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Florence and Ozzie Cook, and four brothers, Eugene Odum, Clarence Edward Odum, James Odum Jr. and William Paul Odum. Linave Bonnie Poling, 80, formerly of Rochester, died Monday, March 22, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Jan. 4, 1919, in Morgantown, W.Va., she was a member of the Rochester Free Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Poling; a son, Frederick Jr.; a daughter, Betty Hooks; a brother, Eugene Moore, and a sister, Twila Moore. Surviving are a son, Gary Poling, Enon Valley; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
