Popovich, Beaver Falls; two daughters, Maryanne Popovich, Chicago, Ill., and Patricia McCullough and her husband, Robert, Chantilly, Va.; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joseph Popovich and his wife, Nancy, Hopewell Township; Frank and William Popovich, both of Beaver, and Phillip Popovich and his wife, Rhoda, Irving, Texas; two sisters, Barbara Wasko and Ann Popovich, both of Beaver; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kofalt and Mary Whiting, both of Beaver Falls; three grandchildren, John M. Popovich, Ryan and his wife, Heather Popovich, and Kevin J. Popovich, all of Beaver Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip and Peter Popovich, and two sisters, Frances Koczer and Pauline Squire. Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LUTTON BEAVER FALLS FUNERAL HOME, 1117 Fifth Ave., where prayers will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Divine Mercy Parish, St. Mary Worship Site. Stanley Puskarich, 74, of South Heights, died Monday afternoon, March 22, 1999, in his residence. Born Feb. 19, 1925, in Aliquippa, a son of the late Leopold and Mary Puskarich, he was a resident of Aliquippa (South Heights) for 25 years. He was a retired mechanic from Bethlehem Steel, Leetsdale, and was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Alice Puskarich; a daughter, Beverly A. Haisley and husband, John, Elizabeth, Pa.; a brother, Thomas Puskarich, Aliquippa; a stepbrother, Austin Fides, Quakertown, Pa.; three stepsons, David B. Deom and wife, Virginia, Houston, Texas; Michael Deom and wife, Mary Ann, Athens, Ga., and John S. Deom and wife, Cheryl, Glenview, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Constance Hogel, Aliquippa, and seven step-grandchildren. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DARROCH MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be conducted Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine Church. Morris Shansky, 85, of Chippewa Township, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born June 6, 1913, in Beaver Falls, a son of the late David and Ida Rosenberg Shansky, he retired in 1979 after working 10 years as a delivery person for Woodlawn Laundry. He was Jewish by faith and was a past member of the Beaver Falls Eagles and the Elks Lodge in Ellwood City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jacob Shansky, and a sister, Ethel Shansky. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Constance Dwyer Shansky; two daughters and a son-in-law, Norma and Robert Cook, Chippewa Township, and Joan Shansky, Erie, Pa.; a son and daughter-in-law, William and Cheryl Dwyer, Lisbon, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Abe Shansky, New Castle, and Frank Shansky, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and a sister, Fay Kolpon, Beaver Falls. Carolyn D. Sweeney, 73, of 50 Rogers Road, Groton, Conn., died Monday, March 22, 1999, in Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, New London, Conn. Born Aug. 4, 1925, in Beaver, she was the daughter of the late Clyde James Oppelt and Blanche (Kimmel) Oppelt. After graduating from Ambridge High School, while living in Baden, she left to work at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. as a civil servant in 1943 where she met her husband. She married Eugene D. Sweeney on Dec. 27, 1948, at the Cathedral of the Assumption B.V.M. in Baltimore, Md. She then worked at various government installations in Civil Service while accompanying her husband in his navel career. She retired as a security assistant at the Navy Under Water System Center in New London, Conn. in May 1991. While living in Connecticut, Mrs. Sweeney was active as a volunteer in many area organizations such as Mystic and Noank Library, Sun Shine Kitchen, the Red Cross and the Carousel Museum. In addition to her volunteer work, she was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Ladies Auxiliary and the Mystic Art Association. Her interests included oil painting, reading and gardening. She is survived by four children, Dennis and James Sweeney, Montville, Conn.; Carolyn Brooks, Huntsville, Ala., and Kathleen Sweeney, Clearwater, Fla. In addition to her children, she is survived by a sister, Alice Jackson, Baden, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Sweeney; her husband, Eugene Sweeney; a brother, Clyde Oppelt, Ambridge, and Margret Oppelt, Coraopolis. There will be no public visitation. A service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the BYLES-GROTON MEMORIAL HOME, 310 Thames St., Groton, Conn. Interment will be in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery. Mary Barkovich, 90, of Aliquippa, died Saturday, March 27, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver. Born Aug. 15, 1908, in Ambridge, she was the daughter of the late Pete and Helen Kerlin. Mrs. Barkovich was a member of St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa, St Titus Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the Croatian Fraternal Union. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Barkovich, in 1985, and a son, Frank S. Barkovich, in 1980. Surviving are a son, Thomas Barkovich, Winston-Salem, N.C.; two daughters, Helen Coslow, Mesa, Ariz., and Goldie Diamond, Marino Valley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter, and two sisters, Helen Florcik, Economy, and Katherine D'Antonio, Mesa, Ariz. B. Wayne Beglin, 83, of Brighton Township, died Thursday morning, March 25, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver, following a brief illness. Born May 14, 1915, in Clarksville, Pa., a son of the late Earl B. and Ethel I. Williams Beglin, he was a resident of Brighton Township for 44 years. He retired in 1985 as president of Beglin Motor Sales, Bridgewater, which he established in Rochester in 1946 after his association with his father, Earl B. Beglin, in his auto business in Midland which was founded in 1922. He was a member of Beaver United Methodist Church and served in the European Theater as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army during World War II. A 1939 graduate of the Carnegie Institute of Technology School of Engineering, he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. He was a longtime member of the Beaver Rotary Club and was a member and past president of the Pennsylvania Automotive Association. Surviving are his wife, Julia E. Zahn Beglin; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce W. and Edith J. Beglin, Brighton Township; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret (Marvie) B. and Gifford A. Howarth, Ithaca, N.Y., and Phyllis B. and Andrew S. Orochena, Brighton Township; nine grandchildren, Gifford W. Howarth, State College, Pa.; Douglas J. Howarth, Manhattan Beach, Calif.; Rev. Roland W. Berry Sr., 71, of Rochester, passed away, Saturday, March 27, 1999, in his residence. Born March 7, 1928, in Rochester, a son of the late Ray and Mabel Berry, he was a retired car repairman with Conrail, Conway. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Transport Workers Union 2035, and the Second Baptist Church, Rochester. He is survived by his wife, Rose F. Taylor Berry; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roland W. and Barbara Berry Jr., Harmony Township, and Rev. Walter E. Boling Sr., 87 of Raccoon Township, died Friday, March 26, 1999, in The Medical Center, Beaver, following a lengthy illness. Born April 8, 1911, in Atlasburg, a son of the late James and Maude Craker Boling, he was a retired employee of the former Sinclair-Koppers Co., Monaca. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dessie McConnell Boling, on Feb. 26, 1981, and three brothers, George, Harold and Clyde Boling. He is survived by a son, Walter E. Boling Jr., Oklawaha, Fla.; two daughters, Joyce Brewer, Garden City, Kan., and Joan Stewart, New Brighton, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a brother, James (Gus) Boling, Carrollton, Ohio. Dorothy M. (Carl) Corbett, 74, of Winter Haven, Fla., died Friday, March 26, 1999, in Winter Haven Hospital after a brief illness. "Grand Ma Dot" as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Aliquippa. Dorothy moved to Winter Haven in 1961, from Aliquippa, to raise her family. She had attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Winter Haven and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bayliss "'Jim" Corbett, in 1989. She is survived by five sons, Ronald Wilson, Boston, Mass.; Howard "Digger" Wilson, Edward Don Harvey II, Daniel E. Harvey, and Arthur B. Harvey, all of Winter Haven, Fla.; a daughter, Dorothy Harvey Johnston, Winter Haven, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a stepson, Karl Corbett, Cincinnati, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Martha Brastow, Topanga, Calif., and Barbara L. Virginia Hill, 83, formerly of Monaca, died Friday, March 26, 1999, in East Liverpool, Ohio. Born Dec. 12, 1915, in Sewickley, a daughter of the late Ralston and Martha Fitzhau Shively, she was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Wellsville, Ohio. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charlres Hill; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Barbara Hill Jr., New Brighton; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and George Milne, Monaca; four grandchildren and their spouses, Lynn and James Maze, Patti and Richard Henderson, Douglas and Karrie Hill, and Susan and Craig Mamone; seven great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralston and June Shively, Freedom, and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Helen and Howard Bailey, Monaca, and Eva Houser, Brighton Township.
