McCoy, Helen L.
Helen L. McCoy, 90, of Chippewa Township, formerly of East Liverpool, Ohio, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, in the Beaver Valley Geriatric Center.
Born Sept. 12, 1910, in Georgetown, a daughter of the late Edward and Daisy Cameron Dawson, she was a member of the Georgetown Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis R. McCoy, in 1984; a son, Ret. Lt. Gen. Robert P. McCoy; two brothers, John and Paul Dawson, and a sister, Lavena Beatty.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Frank Chan, Chippewa Township; a daughter-in-law, Molly McCoy, Bodega Bay, Calif., and four grandchildren, Robin and Rebecca McCoy and Catherine Decker, all in Georgia, and Michael McCoy, Redmond, Wash., and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LUTTON CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 117 Blackhawk Road, where a service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with her nephew, the Rev. Rick Dawson, pastor of the Methodist Evangelical Church, Kannapolis, N.C., officiating.
Interment will follow in Columbiana Memorial Park Cemetery, East Liverpool, Ohio.
Hill, Virginia M.
Virginia M. Hill, 80, of Conway, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, in The Medical Center, Beaver.
Born March 18, 1920, in Fayette City, Pa., a daughter of the late Charles and Martha (Brightwell) Marshall, she was a retired glass worker from Phoenix Glass in Monaca. She was a member of the American Flint Glass Workers 512; Beaver County and Conway Senior Citizens, and had attended the Conway Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Marshall, and a sister, Elaine Moore.
Surviving are a son, James Hill, St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Jack Jamison, Rochester Township, and Patty and Richard Vallecorsa, Ambridge; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Ruth Murchland, Rochester, and Sara Woods, San Clemente, Calif.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HUNTSMAN ROCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, 502 Adams St., where services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m., by her pastor, the Rev. R. Paul Walter.
Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, Daugherty Township.
Hewitt, M. Marie Gallentine
M. Marie Gallentine Hewitt, 90, a resident of Beaver Falls for over 50 years, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, surrounded by her loving family in the Providence Health Care Center.
Born June 14, 1910, in Mill Run, Pa., a daughter of the late Grove C. and Mary Shoaf Gallentine, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver Falls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William O. Hewitt, in August 1984; two sons, Wendell K., in December 1985, and Dwayne D., in October 2000; a sister, Audrey Gallentine, and six brothers, James, L.B., Dwayne, Robert, French and Donnie.
She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, William C. and Lois, Lemont Furnace, Pa.; Phillip and Martha, Patterson Township; Sterling and Betty, Monaca; Gary and Donna, Chippewa Township; Richard, Patterson Township, and Ruthann Hewitt, Chippewa Township; two daughters and a son-in-law, Connie and Ted Brickner, Patterson Township, and Lorraine Day, Beaver Falls; 22 loving grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth O. Miller, Connellsville; Betty Moldovan, Beaver Falls, and Beryldene Wilcox, Youngstown, Ohio; a brother, Roger Gallentine, Freedom, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received today from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the CAMPBELL'S CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 2618 Darlington Road, where a service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald W. MacNeil of the Church of the Nazarene, New Brighton, officiating.
Interment will follow in Beaver Falls Cemetery, Chippewa Township.
Garofalo, Martin 'Pete'
Martin "Pete" Garofalo, 67, a resident of Aliquippa for 49 years, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, in UPMC - Beaver Valley.
Born Nov. 11, 1933, in Pacentro, Italy, a son of Rosa (Morrone-Battaglini) Garofalo, of Baden, and the late John Garofalo, he was a retired employee of LTV Steel and had been a hairdresser for 30 years. A member and usher of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church, Aliquippa, he was a board member of the Friendly Credit Union and was a member of a bowling league at Sheffield Lanes.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Angie (Costanza) Garofalo; a stepson, Earl Anthony Costanza Jr., Aliquippa; a brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Amelia Garofalo, Aliquippa; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Anna Robison and her friend, Dick, Baden, and Virginia and John Batina, Phoenix, Ariz., and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the DARROCH MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where a service will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa.
Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
Zielinske, Mary C.
Mary C. Zielinske, 89, of Center Township, Monaca, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in The Medical Center, Beaver, after several months' illness.
Born March 5, 1911, in Coraopolis, she was a daughter of the late William and Deila McDonald Burke. A homemaker, she was a member of the St. John the Baptist Church of Monaca.
Surviving are a son, Charles F. Zielinske, Monaca; a daughter, Frances Patricia Wimmer, Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Bill Burke, Coraopolis; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Zielinske Sr., in 1995.
Friends will be welcome Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in BATCHELOR BROTHERS MONACA, 998 Atlantic Ave., where a blessing service will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monaca.
Tritt, David E.
David E. Tritt, 62, of Big Beaver, formerly of Monaca, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in The Medical Center, Beaver.
Born Oct. 4, 1938, in Rochester, a son of the late David A. and Thelma Carrier Tritt, he served in the U.S. Army during peacetime and was a retired screw machine operator from Westinghouse/Cutler-Hammer. He was a member of the Monaca Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Eileen Wolfe Tritt; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Tom Schenk, Bremerton, Wash.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Howard and Ruth Wolfe, in Delaware; Carl L. Wolfe, Middleport, Ohio; Gene and Gail Wolfe, Beaver Falls; Marlin and Emily Wolfe, Bobby and Ruth Graham, Benny and Robin Wolfe, and Penny and Gene Powell, all in Ohio; several nieces and nephews, and a special uncle, Ed Carrier, Rochester.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James F. Tritt, in 1967.
Friends will be received Friday from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LUTTON CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 117 Blackhawk Road, where a service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. George Dran, of the Monaca Methodist Church, will officiate.
Private interment
will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Big Beaver.

Doris F. Stewart, 75, of Blair Personal Care Homes and formerly of Monaca, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, in The Medical Center, Beaver, after a short illness.
Born July 25, 1925, a daughter of the late Clyde and Alice (Finley) Stewart, she was a member of the Monaca United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Perza, and a brother, Leroy Stewart.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Dolly Stewart, and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Monaca United Methodist Church, 813 Indiana Ave.

Steals Sr., Marvin Charles
Marvin Charles Steals Sr., 26, of 769 Griffith St., Aliquippa, died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 29, 2001.
Born March 16, 1974, he was a son of Marvin H. Anderson, Aliquippa, and the late Sharmane Steals.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lori A. Steals; a son, Marvin Charles Steals Jr.; his stepmother, Charlene Anderson, Aliquippa; two stepdaughters, Azaria Davis and Sanara Devonshire, Aliquippa; a sister, Jamika Steals, Pittsburgh; father-in-law, Louis Causby, Aliquippa; maternal grandfather, Thomas Steals Sr., Aliquippa; paternal grandfather, Henry Anderson, Aliquippa; three sisters-in-law, Ava Sligh, Atlanta, Ga., and Faith and Jacqueline Norman, Aliquippa; four brothers-in-law, Vaughn (Andrea) Sligh, Juan (Carla) Sligh and Robert Sligh, all of Atlanta, Ga., and Donald (Tremecca) Norman, Aliquippa; six aunts, Brenda (Arthur) Gilliam, Linda Steals, Shirley (James) McIntire, Valerie (Augustus) Kyles, Jackie Steals and Annette Steals; three uncles, Rev. Marvin will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Semes, Bernard C. 'Bernie'
Bernard C. "Bernie" Semes, 82, of Beaver, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2001, in The Medical Center, Beaver.
Born Jan. 29, 1919, in Braddock, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Helen Hovan Semes, he had been a resident of Beaver since 1947. He retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Vanport, after 40 years in customer service. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver, where he served as an usher and was a member of the Keen Club. He was a 1938 graduate of Braddock High School and a 1942 graduate of Duquesne University. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1944 and had served as a PIAA High School football official for 15 years. He was a member of the Duquesne University Sports Hall of Fame, East Pittsburgh Sports Hall of Fame and the NFL alumni association.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Leary Semes; a son, James J. Semes, Moon Township; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann Semes Lynch and Michael P. Lynch, Plum, and Mary E. "Beth" Semes, at home; a granddaughter, Kathleen Lynch, Plum; a brother, Clement and his wife, Susan Semes, West Mifflin, and a sister, Gertrude Borellis, Louisville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Semes, and three sisters, Mary Puhala, Sister M. Adeline, S.V., and his twin sister, Bernadette Lopata.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the NOLL FUNERAL HOME, 333 Third St., Beaver. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in SS. Peter & Paul Church by his pastor, Monsignor William M. Ogrodowski.

Rich, Patsy
Patsy Rich, 90, of Harmony Township, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in the Sewickley Valley Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born Oct. 23, 1910, in Ellwood City, a son of Tony and Antoinette Rich, he was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church of Baden. He was employed as a heater in the little mill of Armco Steel, Ambridge, for 45 years, retiring in 1972. He will be truly missed by his family and all who knew him for sharing the bounty of his gardens and the preparation of his special Italian dishes, which he shared with his family and friends.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony J. and Ellen Rich, and Patsy Jr. and Angel Rich, all of Baden; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Joe Verna, Merced, Calif.; Florence and Mario Mancini Sr., Pittsburgh, and Stella and Ralph Jones, Baden; 11 grandchildren, Sherry and Joey Verna Jr., Merced, Calif.; Venise Joseph, Ambridge; Malley, Tom and Christopher Branchetti, Baden; Janine Mancini, Charleston, S.C.; Mario Mancini Jr., Pittsburgh; Traci Emery, in Florida, and Greg Rich and Amanda Keene, both of Baden; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Rich, in Florida, and a sister, Elsie Falarski, Hopewell Township.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Marie Noschese Rich, in 1999; four brothers, and four sisters.
A service will be conducted today at 9:30 a.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME INC., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. John's Church, Baden. His pastor, Father Joseph Dascenzo, will officiate.
Entombment will follow in Sylvania Hills Mausoleum.
