Anne Giammaria, 94, of Burbank, Calif., formerly of Ambridge, died Jan. 28, 2001, in the Astoria Convalescent Home.
A daughter of the late Colombo and Jenny Guerrieri, she was a member of the Good Samaritan Parish, Christ the King Church, Ambridge.
She was preceded in death by husband, John Giammaria, in March 1987; a son, Paul Giammaria, on Nov. 5, 1999; two sisters, Lena Perciavalle and Sylvia Vasques, and two brothers, Alceste and William Guerrieri.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Peter and Iris Giammaria, and Robert Giammaria, all of Burbank, Calif.; five grandchildren, P.J. Giammaria, Sharon Bishop and Dana Giammaria, all of Burbank, and Jack Giammaria and Robert Giammaria Jr., both of Ambridge; two sisters, Margaret Benedict, Conway, and Beatrice Benedict, Ambridge, and many nieces and nephews in Ambridge.
A service was conducted in the Villa Scalabrini Chapel in Burbank, Calif.
Entombment was in the mausoleum in San Fernando Mission Catholic Cemetery.
Grimm, Bertha Moore
Bertha Moore Grimm, 98, of Harmony Township, went peacefully to be with her Lord early Friday morning, Feb. 2, 2001, in the Sewickley Valley Hospital.
Born March 25, 1902, in Wexford, a daughter of the late John and Mary Evans Rushnock, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Ambridge.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William James Moore, on March 28, 1940; her second husband, Ernest F. Grimm, on March 20, 1965; a son, James William Moore, on June 8, 1993, and a daughter, Betty Moore, on Sept. 23, 1958.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Eve Moore, Harmony Township; a daughter, Marjorie Moore, with whom she resided; four grandchildren, James William Moore, Elizabeth, Pa.; Mark G. Moore, Bethel Park, Pa.; Glenn Scott Moore, State College, Pa., and Tracey A. Murphy and her husband, David, and a great-granddaughter, Ashlynn J. Murphy, all of Harmony Township; seven other great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the PAUL E. BOHN FUNERAL HOME INC., 1099 Maplewood Ave., Ambridge, where a service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bert Domineck will officiate.
Interment will follow in Economy Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Hawthorne Jr., Charles W. 'Chuck'
Charles W. "Chuck" Hawthorne Jr., 48, of Beaver, formerly of Industry, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in his home.
Born Dec. 28, 1952, in Rochester, a son of Mary Fantone Hawthorne, Beaver, and the late Charles W. Hawthorne Sr., who died in 1999, he was a graduate of Western Beaver High School. He retired in 1996 from J&L Specialty Steel, Midland, and was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Beaver, and the Midland Sportsman Club.
In addition to his dear mother, he is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy L. Marciniak Hawthorne, at home; his son and daughter-in-law, Brian E. and Julie Hawthorne, Orlando, Fla.; a brother, James T. Hawthorne, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Jean Marciniak, Ohioville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Debbie Marciniak, Ohioville; Ruth and Paul Cacick, Midland; Gary and Sally Marciniak, Melbourne, Fla., and Karen and Ed White, Aster, Fla., and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard D. Hawthorne, in 1974.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the D.L. WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 848 Midland Ave., Midland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Beaver. Monsignor William Ogrodowski, his pastor, will officiate.
Entombment will take place at a later date in Beaver Cemetery Mausoleum.
A blessing service will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Izzo, Mildred P. 'Millie'
Mildred P. "Millie" Izzo, 71, of Beaver Falls, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in the Montgomery County Geriatric Center, Royersford, Pa.
Born June 7, 1929, in Beaver Falls, a daughter of the late Ivan and Mary Orlich Palaich, she was a retired secretary from Penn State University, Beaver Campus. She was a member of Christ the Divine Teacher Roman Catholic Church, Chippewa Township; Chippewa VFW; Christian Daughters of America, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew C. "Andy" Izzo, on Sept. 29, 1973; a son, Robert Andrew Izzo, and two sisters, Anne Picket and Barbara Reed.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Melinda R. Izzo, Spring City, Pa.; a brother, John Palaich, Darlington; three sisters, Marie Allison, New Lexington, Ohio; Mary Jane "Mutts" Mangerie, Chippewa Township, and Betty Salyards, Beaver Falls, and a grandson, Andrew S. Izzo.
Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LUTTON CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 117 Blackhawk Road, where prayers will begin Wednesday at 9:20 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Church, Chippewa Township. Father Harry Sangl, her pastor, will officiate.
Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Chippewa Township.
A prayer vigil will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.
Kopriva, John R. 'Jack'
John R. "Jack" Kopriva, 65, of New Galilee, formerly of Baden, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in his residence.
Born March 6, 1935, in Conway, he was a son of August M. Jr. and his wife, Bertha Kopriva, Tamarac, Fla., and the late Grace L. Meder Kopriva, who died April 29, 1973. He was a retired laborer on the cutting floor from Armco Steel, Ambridge, retiring in 1986, and a member of St. Rose Lima Roman Catholic Church, Darlington. A 1953 graduate of Ambridge High School, he was a member of the United Steel Workers of America Local 1360.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald D. and Loretta Kopriva, Harmony Township; two nephews and their wives, Ronald J. and Michelle Kopriva, Aliquippa, and Mark A. and Jody Kopriva, Cranberry Township; four great-nephews, Joseph, Andrew, Carson and Luke Kopriva, and a great-niece, Paiton Kopriva.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the LUTTON CHIPPEWA FUNERAL HOME, 117 Blackhawk Road, where prayers will be offered Tuesday at 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. with Father Bob Guay officiating.

Mitchell, Dale L.
Dale L. Mitchell, 76, of Enon Valley, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in the Salem Community Hospital, Salem, Ohio.
Born June 26, 1924, in East Liverpool, Ohio, a son of the late Delmar and Mable Rosenbaum Mitchell, he retired from Armstrong World Industries after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Bible Presbyterian Church, Enon Valley, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae J. (Homesly) Mitchell.
He is survived by three children, Patricia and Richard Hacker, Winter Haven, Fla.; David and Melinda Mitchell, Enon Valley, and Jonathan Mitchell and Deanna White, Rural Valley, Pa.; two granddaughters, Michalynn Hacker and Brittany Mitchell; two grandsons, Matthew Mitchell and Steven Kreutzer; two brothers, James Mitchell, Darlington, and Lee Mitchell, Ellwood City; a sister, Virginia Harper, Greenville, Pa.; several nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Dorothy Rankin, New Waterford, Ohio.
Friends will be received today from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. in the GABAUER FUNERAL HOME INC. at SYLVANIA HILLS MEMORIAL PARK INC., Daugherty Township, where a service will be conducted Monday at noon with his pastor, the Rev. David Sutton, officiating.
Private interment
will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township.

Noyh, John E.
John E. Noyh, 61, a resident of Florence, S.C., for 14 years, formerly of Rochester, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, Jan. 31, 2001, at his residence.
Born Oct. 9, 1939, in Monaca, a son of the late John and Edna Kocienda Noyh, he had accepted employment in South Carolina as director of maintenance for a steel company and had been associated in Pennsylvania with the St. Joe Zinc Corp. and the Pittsburgh Tube Co., Monaca. He was a former member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, Rochester, and was currently a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Florence, S.C. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He had attended Geneva College, where he studied engineering. He was a former member of the Monaca Turners, Beaver County Regatta Committee and the St. Joe Softball League. He was a volunteer with the Meals on Wheels Program in Florence and was a team captain for the "Christmas in April Program" in Hartsville, S.C.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Marchak) Noyh; a daughter, Stacey L. Noyh, Florence; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Russell Measel, Monaca; his mother-in-law, Frances Marchak, Beaver Falls; a sister-in-law, Mary Marchak, San Francisco, Calif., and a niece and her husband, Cindy and Bill Davidson, Monaca.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Lee Noyh, on May 22, 1992.
Friends will be received Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester. A memorial Mass will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the St. Pudentiana Worship Site, North Rochester.
Interment will follow in St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Cemetery, Daugherty Township.

Romantine Jr., Albert G. 'Beansy'
Albert G. "Beansy" Romantine Jr., West Aliquippa, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Vencor Hospital, Oakdale, Pa.
Born May 4, 1934, in West Aliquippa, a son of the late Albert Sr. and Anna Hansel Romantine, he was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, West Aliquippa Worship Site, and St. Titus Parish. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a retired employee of Vulcan Steel, West Aliquippa. He was a member of the Panthers Club and the F.O.E. 1708, both of West Aliquippa, and the M.P.I. Club, Aliquippa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Anselmo "Sam" Romantine, on May 13, 1982.
Surviving are several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
Visitation will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. in the MASTRO-FRANCESCO FUNERAL HOME, 21st and McMinn Streets, Aliquippa, where a service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, West Aliquippa Worship Site.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Center Township.
Rufft, Elwin G.
Elwin G. Rufft, 90, a Moon Township resident for the past 3 1/2 years died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in the Sewickley Valley Hospital.
Born Jan. 19, 1911, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Charles J. and Julia (Quigley) Rufft, he was previously a resident of Scott Township for 44 years. Mr. Rufft was an automobile salesman for Dormont Oldsmobile, now named McMinn's. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church and the Carrick Eagles. Many years ago, he was a streetcar conductor with the Pennsylvania Railway.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Rosemarie Burg Rufft; a daughter and her husband, Geraldine E. and Norman Cutway, Raccoon Township, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Trisha Cutway.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Thomas, Karl, Joseph, twins Gerard and Elmer, and John Rufft.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. in the COPELAND MOON TOWNSHIP FUNERAL HOME, 981 Brodhead Road. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church, with Father John Ayoob officiating.
Private burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
Stephens, Kenneth Edward
Kenneth Edward Stephens, 54, of Aliquippa, died Thursday evening, Feb. 1, 2001, in the Beaver Valley Geriatric Center following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 6, 1947, in Braddock, Pa., a son of Edward Stephens Jr., Ohioview, Industry, and the late Shirley Bess Stephens, who died Sept. 18, 2000, he was an employee of Westinghouse Standard Controls Division and Eaton/Cutler Hammer, Beaver, for over 30 years. He was a graduate of Western Beaver High School and attended several colleges, graduating from Geneva College with a B.A. in Business. A talented musician, he played in several bands throughout the county in the 70's and 80's.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa Stephens, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; an older sister and her spouse, Sandra and Richard Milhem, Columbus, Ohio; a younger brother and his spouse, Richard and Sandra Stephens, Beaver, and three nephews.
There will be no visitation.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at 3 p.m. in the J.T. ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 205 College Ave., Beaver. The Rev. David A. Yoder, pastor of the Ohioview Lutheran Church, will officiate.

Veltri, Pasquale 'Patsy'
Pasquale "Patsy" Veltri, 76, of Ambridge, formerly of Hopewell Township, died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 2, 2001.
Born May 3, 1924, in San Giovanni, Fiore, Italy, a son of the late Biagio and Rosaria (Laratta) Veltri, he was a member of St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. He was a self-employed hair stylist.
Surviving are his wife, Zynita "Ida" Morini Veltri; a son, Kenneth Veltri, Ambridge; a daughter, Lisa Veltri, Hopewell Township; a sister, Rosa Veltri Basile, in Italy; three brothers, Ignazio, Giuseppe and Antonio Veltri, all of Alberta, Canada, and numerous nieces and nephews.
