Services were held for Virginia P. (Stetler) Mauger, 80, widow of George E. Mauger, North Washington Street, Pottstown, who died Oct. 14 in the Frederick Mennonite Community, Frederick. Born in Pottstown, she performed domestic work in the Pottstown area for many years, and had previously been employed by Gudebrod Inc., Stowe. Mauger was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Stowe, and a member of the Pottstown Area Senior Center. She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline D., wife of James W. Harker, of Woxall, Pa.; two sisters, Joanne, wife of Charles Lucas, of Stowe, and Shirley, wife of Lawrence Farman, of Pottstown; three brothers, Milton Stetler, of North Coventry, Walter Stetler, of Douglassville, and Ernest Stetler, of Stowe; and one grandson. She was predeceased by her husband, parents and one grandson. The arrangements were handled by the Catagnus Funeral Home, Pottstown.
MARY K. SCHERER
Services were held for Mary K. Scherer, 80, formerly of Bethlehem, who died Oct. 11 in the Highlands at Wyomissing, where she had resided for two years. Her husband, Llewellyn G. Scherer, died in 1979. Born in Earlville, she was a graduate of Oley Valley High School and attended business school in Reading. She was a former president, vice president and activities director of the Matron’s Club of the YWCA of Bethlehem. Surviving are three sons: George S., Lower Nazareth Township, Northampton County; David L., Green Lane, Montgomery County; and John E., Houston. Other survivors include a sister, Grace (Drumheller) Moyer; also a resident of the Highlands at Wyomissing; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. The arrangements were handled by the Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
FLOYD W. MURPHY
Services were held for Floyd W. Murphy, 81, formerly of Silver Swallows Road, Alsace Township, who died Oct. 12 in Wyomissing Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Reading, where he had resided for one week. His wife, Martha E. (Schanely) Murphy, died in 1995. Born in Stony Creek Mills, Murphy was employed for 35 years as a bottler by Coca-Cola Co., retiring in 1979. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading. Murphy was a 1940 graduate of the Philadelphia School for the Deaf, where he received training to become a barber. He was a past treasurer of the Fraternal organization of The Deaf. Surviving is a son, David W., Birdsboro. Other survivors include a sister, Beverly (Murphy) Finch, Five Points, Exeter Township, and a grandson. The Lutz Funeral Home Inc., Mount Penn, handled the arrangements.
DONNA K. LOVELESS
Services were held for Donna K. (Blair) Loveless, 58, wife of Albert C. Loveless of North Reading Avenue, New Berlinville, Colebrookdale Township, who died Oct. 12 at her home. She was born in Baltimore, Md., was a homemaker and worked part time for the Boyertown Area School District as a cafeteria worker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Sabrina M. Loveless, who lives at home; a sister and two brothers. She was predeceased by a sister and a brother. The arrangements were handled by the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Boyertown.
HENRIETTA S. TROUT
Funeral services were held for Henrietta S. (Brumbach) Trout, 80, widow of Russell L. Trout, and formerly of East Fifth Street, Boyertown, who died Oct. 13 in Berks Heim, where she had resided since 1987. Born in Boyertown, she was employed as a waitress at the Grill Shop, Boyertown, for many years, retiring in 1985. Trout was a member of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Boyertown. Surviving are two sons, Thomas A. Trout, Bechtelsville, and Richard S. Trout, Boyertown; one brother, Henry Brumbach, Florida; one sister, Miriam, widow of Warren Hohl, Boyertown; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. The arrangements were handled by the C. L. Losh Funeral Home, Boyertown.
JOHN E. HORN JR.
A memorial service was held for John E. Horn Jr., 56, husband, of Melissa A. (Sell) Horn, of East Second Street, Boyertown, who died Oct. 19 at the Reading·Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, where he had been a patient. Born in Norristown, he was a son of John E. and Isabel (Ziegler) Horn of Perkiomenville. He was a 1962 graduate of Boyertown Area High School, and attended Michigan Technological University, in Houghton, Mich., for three years. Horn was employed as a laboratory technician by Cabot Performance Materials, Boyertown for 30 years, last working in 1995. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the United States Navy from 1966 until 1969. He was instrumental in forming Local 959C (International Chemical Workers Union), and was president of Local 959C from 1977 until 1985. Horn was a safety chairman at Cabot Performance Materials from 1975 to 1977; a charter member and past president of the Boyertown Historical Society; and demonstrated hickory broom making at the Goshenhoppen Folk Festival. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Jennifer L. (Horn), wife of Joseph Keel, West Reading; one son, Jeremy F. Horn, Boyertown. Also two sisters and one grandchild. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 632 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. The arrangements were handled by the Linwood W. Services were held for Mary E. Rothenberger, 90, of Urban Acres, Elizabeth Ave., Alsace Township, who died Oct. 11 in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenberg Township, where she had resided since July. Her husband, William Rothenberger, died in 1993. Born in Exeter Township, she was a member of Zion (Spies) Reformed Church, Alsace Township. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. MILDRED HOLLOWBUSH
Services were held for Mildred (Byrne) Hollowbush, 77, wife of Wilmer A. Hollowbush, Sanatoga Rd., Pottstown, who died Oct. 9 at the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Germantown, she graduated from Norristown High School and worked as an office cashier at the former New York Store in Pottstown. She retired in 1969. She was a member of the New Hanover Lutheran Church, Gilbertsville and a life member of the Boyertown Music League. Survivors in addition to her husband are a daughter, Kim Hollowbush, Pottstown; a son, Jeffrey Hollowbush of Oley. Also a sister and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother,

A memorial service will be held for Margaret J. Conrad, 78, who died Oct. 14 in St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital, Quakertown, where she had been a patient. She had been a resident of the Quakertown Nursing Center, Quakertown, since 1996. She was the widow of Grant G. Conrad who died in 1981. Born in Boyertown, she was a graduate of Boyertown High School. Conrad was a homemaker, and a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boyertown. Surviving are a son, Gary L. Conrad, Malvern and one granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boyertown, with Sister Millicent J. Drake officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown, PA 19512. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery . Services were held for M. Elizabeth (Donald) Gerber, 86, widow of William E. Gerber, Pottstown, who died Oct. 15 at ManorCare Health Services in Pottstown. Born in Nesquehoning, Schuylkill County, she was a graduate of Kutztown University. She retired in 1979 from the Daniel Boone School District as a teacher.
Gerber was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boyertown, the Retired Teacher’s Association, the New Hanover Branch of the A.A.R.P., past worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Gnaden-Heutten Chapter and the Boyertown Senior Center. Surviving is one daughter, Shirley, wife of Edward VanBuren of Boyertown; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Contributions may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 N.
