Services were held for Mackenzie Brigitte Fryer, infant daughter of Kenneth W. and Antje E. (Coltart) Fryer, of South Franklin Street, Boyertown, who died Oct. 14. In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Rebecca-Lynn W. Reinert, Boyertown; one brother, Andrew J. Reinert, Boyertown. paternal grandparents, Charles and Irene (Grove) Fryer, Boyertown; maternal grandparents, Sidney W. and Wimke (Boterhock) Coltart, of Barto; paternal great-grandmother, Mary, widow of Lester Fryer, of Boyertown; and her maternal great-grandmothers, Elizabeth M. Coltart, of Lansdale, and Jelle Boterhoek, of the Netherlands. Memorial donations may be made to the Genesis Pregnancy Care Center, 888 High St., Pottstown, PA 19464. JEANNETTE C. LANDIS
A memorial service will be held Saturday for Jeannette C. Landis, 86, of Main St., Oley, formerly of Boca Raton, Fla., who died Oct. 16 in the Reading Hospital, where she was a patient. Her husband, Henry W. Landis, died in 1988. Born in Auburn, Landis and her husband owned and operated pharmacies in the Auburn and Pottsville area before moving to Florida. She was a graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School. Surviving are a brother, with whom she last resided; and two sisters. Other survivors include two grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Hugh W. Landis, in 1985. The arrangements were handled by the Daniel R. Christ Funeral Home, Oley.
NORMAN S. GEIST
Services will be held for Norman S. Geist, 87, husband of Marian I. (Mauger) Geist of East Philadelphia Avenue, Boyertown, who died Oct. 15 in the Pennsburg Manor, where he resided since January. Geist was born in New Berlinville and was a graduate of Boyertown High School. He was a machinist for 15 years at Boeing Corporation in Philadelphia. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Geist was also a member of the Pike Township Sportsmen’s Club, the Bechtelsville Fire Company, a life member of the Friendship Hook and Ladder Fire Company and the Boyertown and Liberty Fire Company, New Berlinville. Geist was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Orioles Nest 22, Boyertown, the Boyertown VFW and American Legion’s Charles B. Yerger Post, Boyertown. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a step-son, Robert Mauger, Barto and one step-grandson. Friends may call Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, 111 N. Reading Avenue, Boyertown. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. William E. Harner Jr., pastor of Visitation Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Boyertown, officiating. JOHN A. MENTZER
Services will be held for John A. Mentzer, 79, of Mohrsville, Center Township, Berks County, who died Oct. 13 at Frederick Mennonite Community, Frederick, where he had been a patient for the past week. Born in Pottstown, he was employed as a postal worker by the Pottstown Post Office for 23 years until his retirement in 1981. Mentzer was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving during World War II. and was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Barto. He is survived by nine nephews and three nieces. He was predeceased by a nephew. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Barto. The Rev. Homer E. Royer Jr., pastor, will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Barto, PA 19504. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. The Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home, Pottstown, handled the arrangements.
CLARENCE G. MORRISON
Services will be held for Clarence G. "Lucky" Morrison, 73, of Pricetown Road, Alsace Township, who died Oct. 15 in the emergency room of St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Rena A. (Chambers) Morrison. Born in Rocky Mount, N.C., Morrison was employed for 20 years by American Chain & Cable Co., Reading, and was last employed, for 30 years, by Carpenter Technology Corp., retiring in 1987. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Morrison was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Hyde Park KingdomHall. He is also survived by four sons: Herbert L. and E. Keith, both of Reading; Rick M., Anaheim, Calif.; and B. Neal, Temple. Also five daughters: Priscilla (Morrison) Hightower, Jacksonville, N.C.; Mitzi D. Morrison, Pleasantville, N.J.; Clarice R. (Morrison) Smith and JoAnn L. Morrison, both of Reading; and Regina L. Morrison, Allentown. Also surviving are a brother, three sisters, 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be Thursday at noon in the Auman Funeral Home, Reading. Burial will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.

Services were held for Sarah H. (Houck) Gross, 85, of Mine Road, Pike Township, formerly of Earlville, who died Oct. 3 in the Berks Heim, Bern Township, Berks County, where she was a patient since March. She was the widow of Charles W. Gross Sr., who died in 1992. Born in Boyertown, she was a housewife and cleaning lady. Gross was a member of Good Shepherd U.C.C. of Boyertown. Surviving are two sons, Charles W. Gross Jr., with whom she last resided; and David A. Gross of Mt. Penn; a brother, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. JAMES D. WILLIAMS
Services were held for James D. Williams, 60, husband of Dorothy M. (Grammer) Williams, of Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville, who died Oct. 3 at his residence. Born in Galveston, Texas, he was a son of Bernice (Quebe) Williams, of Algoa, Texas and the late Parke D. Williams. He and his wife had celebrated 36 years of marriage. Williams was employed as a construction worker by Pizzaqualli Construction of the East Coast and the Allen A. Myers Construction Co., in Worcester. He was a member of the Lutheran faith. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Craig Williams, of Pottstown; one daughter, Julie Lara, of Birdsboro. Also two brothers, four sisters and four grandchildren. The arrangements were handled by the Keller Funeral Home, Fogelsville, Lehigh County.
ANNA M. GOTTSHALK
A graveside funeral service and burial was held for Anna M. (Botka) Gottshalk, widow of Karl K. Gottshalk, of Perkiomenville Road, Perkiomenville, who died Oct. 4 at the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Pottstown. Born in New York, N.Y., she worked as a teacher in the Medinger School in Neiffer, Limerick Township, in the mid 1940s, and then worked as an office manager for a road and bridge construction firm, as well as a transportation company before retiring in 1966 to devote more time to the clerical work in her husband’s office. She was appointed secretary for the Upper Frederick Township Planning Commission in 1970, a post she held until 1980. Along with the commission chairman, she helped prepare the final draft of the township’s zoning ordinance that was adopted in 1974. She became the first woman in Pennsylvania to be elected as a supervisor when she took a seat on the Upper Frederick Board of Supervisors in 1976. She was eventually elected chairman of the board, also a first, and held that post until resigning in 1980. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sumneytown. Gottshalk is survived by one sister. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter and one brother. Funeral services were held for Martha A. Unger, 83, of Wanner Road, Alsace Township, who died Oct. 6 in St. Joseph Medical Center, where she had been a patient. She was the wife of Arthur C. Unger. Born in Reading, she was employed by Infants Socks Inc., Reading, and VF Corp., Wyomissing. She was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Reading. Unger is also survived by a stepson, Richard L. Unger, Wyomissing; four step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandson. She was predeceased by a stepson, Barry E. Unger. The Sanders Funeral Home, Reading, was in charge of the arrangements.

Services were held for Mary M. Lapi, 86, of Elizabeth Ave., Muhlenberg Township, formerly of Reservoir Road, Alsace Township, who died Oct. 6 in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenberg Township, where she had resided for three months. She was the wife of Peter Lapi. Born in Fulks Run, Va, she was employed for 28 years as a fancy stitcher by Curtis, Stevens & Embry Co., retiring in 1974. She is also survived by a brother.
