RITA D. DANCY

Funeral services were held for Rita D. (Frey) Dancy, 75, of Chestnut Street, Birdsboro, who died January 29 in her home.

Born in Gilbertsville, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boyertown.

Dancy is survived by five daughters, Deborah (Giles) Evans of Gilbertsville, Audrey (Giles) Stamm of Birdsboro, Faye (Richards) Stoudt of Boyertown, H. Janet (Dancy) Thomas of Pottstown and Jamie S. (Dancy) of Reading.

Also two brothers, Richard Frey and Dennis Frey, both of Gilbertsville; four sisters, Madalyn Sands of Boyertown, Patricia McHugh of Boyertown, Barbara Spohn of Oley and Linda Lokey of Elizabethtown.

Also 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Berks Visiting Nurse Hospice, 1170 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610; or to the American Cancer Society, Berks County Unit, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605.

Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Boyertown.

The arrangements were handled by the L. W. Ott Funeral Home, Boyertown.

ERMA V. MATHIAS

Services were held for Erma V. (Hilbert) Mathias, 78, of Gilbertsville, who died January 27 in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.

She was the wife of Lawrence R. Mathias.

Mathias was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Barto, where she was active for many years.

Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Monica S. Mathias of New Hanover; two sons, Ronald L. Mathias of New Hanover and Terry S. Mathias of South Charleston, W. Va..

Also a brother, John W. Hilbert of Gilbertsville; and two grandchildren.

Contributions can be made in her memory to the Memorial Fund of Calvary United Church of Christ, Barto.

Burial was in Niantic Cemetery .

The arrangements were handled by the Catagnus Funeral Home Inc., Gilbertsville.

SOPHIE RATH

Funeral services were held for Sophie Rath, 84, of Oahu Circle in Estero, Fla., formerly of Boyertown, who died January 27 in the Life Care Center of Estero.

She was the wife of Oscar G. Rath.

Born in Eynon, she was a homemaker.

Rath was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Friendship Hook and Ladder Company in Boyertown.

In addition to her husband of 50 years, she is survived by a son, Eugene T. Kribel of Reading.

She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Burial was in Highland Memorial Park in Pottstown.

The arrangements were handled by the Catagnus Funeral Home, Boyertown.

ARTHUR W. CONRAD

Graveside services were held for Arthur W. Conrad, 86, of Pricetown Road, Alsace Township, who died January 28 in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenbeg Township, where he had resided since August.

His wife, Fern R. (Rapp) Conrad, died in 1998.

Born in Alsace Township, Conrad was employed for 17 years as a knitter by the Rosedale Knitting Mill, Laureldale, and was employed for 20 years as a laborer by Dick Brothers, Reading.

He was last employed for 10 years as a groundskeeper by Albright College until his retirement.

He was a member of Salem (Shalter’s) Lutheran Church, Alsace Township.

Surviving are two sons, William L. and Brian G., both of Alsace Township; and five daughters, Joyce A. (Conrad) Keehn, Reading; Willa Mae (Conrad) Shadle, Sinking Spring; Frieda L. (Conrad) Gross, St. Lawrence; Melinda L. (Conrad) Harris, Muhlenberg Park; and Mary K. (Conrad) DeTemple, Hamburg.

Other survivors include 15 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Services were in Salem (Shalter’s) Church Cemetery , Alsace Township.

The arrangements were handled by the Catagnus Funeral Home Inc., Oley.

ROBERT G. DRUMHELLER

Services were held for Robert G. Drumheller, 72, of Bertolet Mill Road, Oley Township, who died January 29 in the Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Ethel M. (Moyer) Drumheller.

Born in Alsace Township, he was last employed for 11 years as a mechanic by Temple Tire Inc., retiring in 1997.

He was previously self-employed for more than 20 years at the Robert G. Drumheller Service Station in Oley.

Drumheller was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Oley.

He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by a son, Keith A., Blandon; and three daughters: Donna I. (Drumheller) Ziegler, Sinking Spring; Karen L. Drumheller, at home; and Lori A. (Drumheller) Roush, Warrenton, Ga.

Other survivors include four sisters and five grandchildren.

Burial was in Friedens Cemetery , Oley.

The arrangements were handled by the Dengler Funeral Home Inc., Birdsboro.

DOROTHY E. HARTLINE

Services will be Thursday for Dorothy E. Hartline, 89, formerly of Oak Street, Boyertown, who died Feb 1 in Manatawny Manor, East Coventry Township, where she had been a resident since June.

Her husband, Ralph A. Hartman, died in 1991.

Born in Little Oley, Douglass Township, she was a 1932 graduate of Boyertown High school.

Hartline was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Boyertown.

Hartline is survived by a daughter, Joan E. (Hartline) Miller, and a son, Donald K., both of Boyertown.

Other survivors include a brother, Gerald Garber, North Carolina; and two sisters, Annabelle (Garber) Burkert and Betty (Garber) Boyer, both of Boyertown.

There are also six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. in Catagnus Funeral Home Inc., Gilbertsville.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery , Boyertown.

EVELYN E. CORKRAN

Services were held for Evelyn E. Corkran, 81, of Mountain Road, Earl Township, who died January 31 in Reading Hospital.

Her husband, Medford D. Corkran, died in 1986.

Born in Reading, she previously worked for 20 years for David Crystal Inc., Reading, where she served as assistant general manager. She was last employed for five years as a sales clerk by Joseph’s Clothiers, Reading.

She was a 1940 graduate of Reading High School.

She was a volunteer dispatcher with Exeter Ambulance.

Surviving is a son, Mark D., Earl Township.

There are also three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Medford D.

Burial was in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.

The Auman Funeral Homes, Reiffton handled the arrangements.

CHARLES MYERS

Services will be held Thursday for Charles Marcus Myers, 89, husband of Mildred E. (Bailey) Myers, of North Walnut Street, Boyertown, who died January 31 in ManorCare Health Services in Laureldale.

Born in Pottstown, he worked for 45 years as a tool and die maker for the Doehler Jarvis Co. in Stowe, until retiring in 1968.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pottstown.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two sons, Rev. James D. Myers, Strausstown and Robert D. Myers, of Royersford.

Also four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made in his memory to the First United Methodist Church, 414 High St., Pottstown, PA 19464, or St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 322, Swamp Creek Road, New Berlinville, PA 19545.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Schumacher and Benner Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 359 King St., Pottstown.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park.

JOAN E. CLAUSS

Services will be held for Joan E. (Koch) Clauss, 68, of Spruce Street, Gilbertsville, who died February 1 in her home.

Born in Red Hill, she was a cafeteria employee of Boyertown Junior High School East for 10 years.

She was a member of St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church in Boyertown.

Clauss was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Boyertown for 20 years.

Surviving are three sons, Danny Clauss and Tommy Clauss, both of Philadelphia, and Jonathan Clauss of Gilbert, Ariz.; a daughter, Patti Buehler of Allentown.

Also 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church, 200 Indian Spring Road, Boyertown, with Monsignor Edward Coyle, pastor of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Bally, officiating.

Contributions may be sent to Pinnacle Health Hospice, 3705 Elmwood Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17110; or to the American Cancer Society, 1830 East High St., Pottstown, PA 19464.

The arrangements were handled by the Catagnus Funeral Home Inc., Gilbertsville.

George D. Bivans, 80

Among the local survivors of George D. Bivans, Reading, who died June 4 in the Berkshire Center, Exeter Township, where he had resided five weeks, is a stepson, Bruce Brightbill, Fleetwood.
