Florence Harrington, 91
Private services were arranged by the Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home, Kutztown, for Florence C. Harrington, formerly of Luzerne County, who died Jan. 20 in Kutztown Manor Inc.
Burial was in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, Lackawanna County.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward W. Harrington, who died in 1977.
Born in Exeter, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Alice (Drumm) Newhart.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Pittston, Luzerne County.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia E. (Harrington) Sheridan and Regina A. Harrington, both of Kutztown; and a son, Edward M. Harrington, Johnson City, N.Y.

Wayne L. Weisner, 90
Services were held in the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, New Tripoli, for Wayne L. Weisner, of Krumsville Road, Greenwich Township, who died Jan. 20 in Kutztown Manor.
Burial was in Friedens Lutheran Church Cemetery , Stony Run.
He was the husband of Lillian R. (Kerschner) Weisner.
Born in Albany Township, he was a son of the late Leon and Mary (Deisher) Weisner.
Until retiring in 1984, he was a self-employed farmer in Albany Township for 44 years.
Also surviving is a brother, Alton Weisner, Kempton.

Anna O. Cooper, 94
Memorial services will be held Sat., Jan. 31, in the Caum Memorial Home, Reading, for Anna O. Cooper, formerly of Birdsboro, Fleetwood and Tamaqua, who died Jan. 18 in the Lutheran Home at Topton. She previously resided at the Caum Memorial Home.
Burial was in Pricetown Cemetery .
She was predeceased by her husband, William Cooper.
Born in Tuscarora, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Emma (Winkel) Schock.
Until retiring in 1965, she was employed by Atlas Powder Co., Reynolds, Schuylkill County, for 37 years.
She was a member of St. PaulŐs Lutheran Church, Fleetwood.
Surviving are a niece, Jeanne A. Noll, Luthersville, Md., and a nephew, David Kline, Sabinsville, Potter County.
The Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Fleetwood, was in charge of arrangements.

C. David Weaver, 56
Services were held in the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, for C. David Weaver, of Bitting Road, District Township, who died of natural causes Jan. 20 shortly after being admitted to the Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Burial was in Topton Union Cemetery .
He was the husband of Veronica M. (Mauer) Weaver.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of C. Norman Weaver, Emmaus, Lehigh County, and the late Dorothy L. (Och) Weaver.
He was a 1965 graduate of Quakertown High School.
Since 2001, he was employed as a facility manager by the General Electric Polymer Shapes Co., Fogelsville. He was previously employed from 1963 to 1996 as a quality control manager by the Artistic Glass Co., Trumbaurersville, Bucks County, and from 1996 to 2001 by Insulgard, Nazareth, Northampton County.
Weaver was a Vietnam War Army veteran.
He was a PIAA Berks County basketball official for 20 years and was a Little League coach in the Brandywine Youth Baseball Association for 10 years.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael A. Weaver, Topton, and Mark D. Weaver, Fleetwood; a daughter, Angela M. Weaver, at home; and a stepson, Ryan S. Gresh, at home.
There are also two grandsons.
Other survivors include two sisters, Maryjane L. (Weaver) Zanders, Allentown, and Dorothy M. (Weaver) Richard, Lower Macungie Township; and a brother, Norman R. Weaver, Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County.
The Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jane Gasser, 68
Services were held in St. PaulŐs United Church of Christ, Fleetwood, for Mary Jane Gasser, of Spring Street, Fleetwood, who died of natural causes Jan. 21 in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient since Jan. 8.
Burial was in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
She was the wife of Lawrence N. Gasser.
Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Hartman) Wentzel.
Until retiring in 1995, she was the assistant vice president of CoreStates Bank for 15 years. She was employed in the local banking industry for a total of 41 years, also working at Reading Trust Co. and National Central Bank.
She was a past treasurer of the Kutztown Historial Society.
Gasser was a member of St. PaulŐs UCC.
Surviving are a daughter, Kim K. (Gasser) Coombe, Ephrata.
There are also two sisters, Catherine (Wentzel) Wickel, Reading, and Dorothy (Wentzel) Smith, Boyertown; and three brothers: Charles Wentzel, Muhlenberg Township; John Wentzel, in Florida; and Robert Wentzel, Sinking Spring.
The Bean Funeral Home, Reading, was in charge of arrangements.

David I. Thomas, 53
Private services were arranged by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, for David I. Thomas, of Clay Road, Longswamp Township, who died of natural causes Jan. 21 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, where he had been a patient since Jan. 16.
He was the husband of Janis M. (Geiger) Thomas.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late David O. and Ruth (Williams) Thomas.
He was a 1972 graduate of Mansfield University were he received a bachelorŐs degree in special education. He received his masterŐs degree in education from Pennsylvania State University in 1980.
Thomas was employed as a special education teacher in the Allentown School District since 1975. From 1972 to 1975, he was a teacher at the Centennial School at Lehigh University. He also taught in the child psychology unit of the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, for 12 years.
Also surviving are a sister, Nancy (Thomas) Petrick, Mountain Top, Luzerne County.

Melvin R. Sprecher, 76
Services were held in the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, Lancaster County, for Melvin R. Sprecher, of Scenic Drive, Denver, Lancaster County, and formerly of Fleetwood, who died Jan. 22 in Reading Hospital after a brief illness.
Burial was in Terre Hill Cemetery .
He was the husband of Eleanor M. (Simmons) Sprecher.
Born in Fivepointville, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Chester A. and Grace (Smith) Sprecher.
He was employed as a butcher by Weaver Markets, Adamstown, for the past 10 years. He was self-employed in the butcher business at Sprecher Meats, Fivepointsville.
Also surviving are two sisters, Geraldine (Sprecher) Knoll, Harleysville, Montgomery County, and Marilyn Sprecher, Blandon.

Frances H. Weller, 82
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Holy Guardian Angels Church, Hyde Park, for Frances H. Weller, formerly of Longleaf Drive, Blandon, who died Jan. 21 in ManorCare Health Services, West Reading, where she had resided two years.
Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery , Laureldale.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Henry W. and Mary M. (Keener) Borr.
Until retiring in 1983, she was employed as a laborer by AT&T Reading Works, Muhlenberg Township, for 15 years.
Weller was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.
She resided with Joann C. Felguieras and is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Weller) Ansel, Robesonia, and a son, Russell S. Weller, Arnold, Md.
There are also eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

William D. Hertzog, 85
Services were held in Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown, for William D. Hertzog, of Hidden Valley Road, Longswamp Township, who died Jan. 21 in the Phoebe Home, Allentown.
Burial was in Longswamp Union Cemetery , Mertztown.
He was the husband of Ruth E. (Ziegler) Hertzog.
Born in Longswamp Township, he was a son of the late Harvey J. and Sallie S. (Fritch) Hertzog.
From 1951 until retiring in 1980, he was employed by Metropolitan Edison Co., Topton.
Hertzog was active in the Longswamp Township area Boy Scouts in the 1950Ős.
He was also a preformer in various old-time minstrel shows.
Hertzog was a member of Longswamp UCC, where he served on consistory for 20 years and was an elder for more than 50 years. He was also a Sunday school treasurer for 15 years.
He also served on the Longswamp Union Cemetery board, Mertztown, for 30 years.
Also surviving are a daughter, Sandra A. (Hertzog) Miller, Alburtis, and two sons, Joseph L. Hertzog, Spring Township, and William D. Hertzog II, Brownville Junction, Maine.
There are also three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, was in charge of arrangements.

Edwin R. Kauffman, 71
Services were held Jan. 26 in Bean Funeral Homes Inc., Sinking Spring, for Edwin R. Kauffman, James Street, Sinking Spring, who died of natural causes Jan. 21 at 3:45 p.m. in Reading Hospital. He was a patient at the hospital for a week.
Burial was in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Calvin M. and Jenne L. (Riegel) Kauffman.
He was a Marine Corps veteran.
Kauffman was employed for three years in sales for Recoil Inc. He previously worked for 10 years for Castrol International, Warminster, Bucks County, and was an equipment superintendent for Eastern Industries, Kutztown, for 20 years.
He was a volunteer for the Lutheran Home at ToptonŐs Meals on Wheels program.
Kauffman is survived by two sons, Michael R., Wyomissing, and Scott M., Shillington; two daughters, Natalie L. Kauffman, Womelsdorf, and Debra I. (Kauffman) Wahl, Perry Township; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a sister, Emma (Kauffman) Cocuzza, Temple; and two brothers, Calvin M., Laureldale, and Norman, State College, Center County.
