Paul H. Loy, 77
Services will be held today, Jan. 29, in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale, for Paul H. Loy, of Belle Alto Road, South Heidelberg Township, who died Jan. 24 at 8:15 p.m. in Reading Hospital.
Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton.
Born in Richmond Township, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Ely) Loy.
Loy was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was employed for many years as a truck driver by Wetterau, Tuckerton and previously worked as a bus driver for Carl R. Bieber Tourways.
Loy was a past governor of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 523, Hamburg, where he served as sergeant-at-arms.
He was past-president of Keystone Moose Legion 41 and was past-president of district five of the Pennsylvania Moose Association.
Loy also served as sergeant-at-arms for the Berks County Clubman's Association.
He was a life member and 32nd degree mason with Chandler Lodge 227 Free and Accepted Masons, Reading.
Loy was a life member of the Temple Fire Company.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sinking Spring.
Surviving is a son, Kerry G., Lyons, and a daughter, Paulette (Loy) Gray, Lenhartsville.
He was predeceased by a son, Leonard.
Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Joan (Gartmann) Keys, Virginia, and Mary (Gartmann) Crouse, Robesonia; and four stepsons: Luther L. Shaak, Port Matilda, Centre County; Bruce E. Shaak, Reading; Douglas C. Shaak, Charlotte, N.C.; and Gregory S. Shaak, Sinking Spring.
Other survivors include a brother, Grant, Clearwater, Fla.; and three sisters: Beatrice (Loy) Heinbach, Tuckerton; Ruth (Loy) OÕConnor, Trafford, Westmoreland County; and Betty (Loy) Kunkle, Hamburg.
There are also two grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter.

Thelma E. Baer, 88
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. in the Auman Funeral Homes, Reading, for Thelma E. Baer of South Richmond Street, Fleetwood, who died Jan. 22 in St. Joseph Medical Center, where she was a patient for two days.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Union Cemetery, Richmond Township.
She was the wife of Elwood W. Baer.
Born in Bern Township, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Ringler) Schwambach.
Baer was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Fleetwood.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie L. (Baer) Fansier, Fleetwood, and a sister, Edith (Schwambach) Weiler, Birdsboro and five grandchildren.

Miriam C. Reppert, 76
Private services were held for Miriam C. Reppert, of Memorial Highway, Ruscombmanor Township, who died Jan. 25 at home.
She was the wife of Lee S. Reppert.
Born in Maidencreek Township, she was a daughter of the late George D. and Verna M. (Keim) Wessner.
Until retiring, she was employed fro 23 years as a bench hand by Western Electric Co., AT&T Reading Works and Lucent Technologies Inc., Muhlenberg Township. She previously worked for more than 12 years as a seamer for Fleetwood Hosiery.
Reppert was a life member of the Blandon Ladies Auxiliary, Fleetwood Senior Citizens Club and local Pioneers of America.
She was a member of St. John's Gernant's Church, Ontelaunee Township.
Surviving is a sister, Margaret I. (Wessner) Carlton, Exeter Township; and two brothers, Arlan E. Wessner, Fleetwood, and Terry L. Wessner, Pomaria, S.C.

Ralph G. Zeiber, 56
Services were held in Bean Funeral Homes Inc., Reading for Ralph G. Zeiber, of West Walnut Tree Drive, Maidencreek Township, who was pronounced dead on arrival of natural causes in Reading Hospital on Jan. 22 at 3:19 p.m.
Burial was in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
He was the husband of Marilyn M. (Straub) Zeiber.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Leroy H. and Sarah E. (Bates) Zeiber.
Zeiber was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving the Purple Heart.
Until 1998, he was employed by Carpenter Technology Corp., Reading, as a steel straightener and maintenance worker.
He was a life member of the Perry Rod & Gun Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Corinna S. Zeiber, Littleton, Colo., and a son, Zachary T., at home.
Other survivors include two sisters, Beverly (Zeiber) Shade, Reading, and Karen (Zeiber) Dianna, Temple, and three brothers: Larry, Temple; Ronald, Lake Wynonah, Schuylkill County; and Arthur, Reading.

Joseph S. Haak, 81
Services were held Jan. 27 in Friedens Church for Joseph S. Haak of Carsonia Avenue, Lower Alsace Township, who died Jan. 22 at 9:25 a.m. in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Lebanon, where he was a patient for one day.
Burial was in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown.
He was the husband of Anna G. (Snyder) Himmelrich-Haak. His first wife, Evelyn G. (Wiltrout) Haak died Nov. 5, 1971.
Born in Stouchsburg, Marion Township, he was a son of the late David and Daisy (Loose) Haak.
He was a graduate of Marion High School, Stouchsburg.
Until retiring in 1973, Haak was employed for 13 years as a cutter by Katos Sportswear, Kutztown. He was previously employed for 16 years as a salesman in the hardware industry.
He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
Haak was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Oley.
He is survived by a son, Joseph R., Lenhartsville; two daughters, LaVerne E. (Haak) Usher, Mineral, Va. and Kathleen L. (Haak) Sherman, Hamburg; a stepson, George R. Himmelreich, Reading; two step-daughters, Shirley A. (Himmelreich) Himmelreich, Oley, and Linda J. (Himmelreich) Weller, Maidencreek Township; and a sister, Dorothy M. Haak, Womelsdorf.
There area also seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-granddaughters and two step-great-granddaughters.
Christ & Catagnus Funeral Home Inc., Oley, was in charge of arrangements.

Russell G. Stump
Services were held in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hamburg, for Russell G. Stump, 74, of Old Route 22, Windsor Township, who died Feb. 20 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient six days.
Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery, Hamburg.
He was the husband of Mae L. (Levan) Stump. His first wife, Arlene P. (Merkel) Stump, died in 1967.
Born in Klinesville, Greenwich Township, he was a son of the late William F. and Verna A. (George) Stump.
Until retiring in 1994, he was employed as an auto mechanic by Francis L. Werley Inc., Windsor Township, for 47 years.
He was a 1946 graduate of Kutztown High School.
Stump was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hamburg, where he was a former councilman and usher.
Also surviving are two sons, David R. Stump, Marietta, Ohio and Mark W. Stump, Mohrsville, adn a daughter, Carol J. (Stump) Armer, Mohnton.
There are also five grandchildren.
Other survivors include three brothers: Steward F. Stump and Wayne W. Stump, both of Greenwich Township and Sterling E. Stump, Windsor Township.

Lorraine A. Moyer
Services were held in Salem United Methodist Church, Shoemakersville, for Lorraine A. Moyer, 75, of Main Street, Shoemakersville, who died Feb. 21 in St. Joseph Medical Center, where she had been a patient since Jan. 16.
Burial was in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Perry Township.
Born in Shoemakersville, she was a daughter of the late George H. and Carrie M. (Bitterman) Moyer.
Until retiring in 1993, she was employed as a bookeeper and later as a partner with the R.P. Miller Co., Shoemakersville.
Moyer was a 1945 graduate of Perry High School and a 1946 graduate of the McCann Business School, Reading.
She was a member of Salem UM Church, where she was a former financial secretary.
Moyer was also a former secretary of St. Luke’s Cemetery.
Surviving are two sisters, Christine M. (Moyer) Knittle, Riverview Park, and Carol A. (Moyer) Bitner, Muhlenberg Township.
The Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Earl E. Kauffman
Former Penn Twp. supervisor
Services were held in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, Bernville, for Earl E. Kauffman, 85, of New Schaefferstown Road, Jefferson Township, who died Feb. 26 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient for four days.
Burial was in Bern Cemetery, Bern Township.
He was the husband of Irene E. (Noecker) Kauffman.
Born in North Heidelberg Township, he was a son of the late Francis and Edna (Fidler) Kauffman.
Her served as a Penn Township supervisor in the 1950s and 1960s.
Until retiring in 1982, he was employed in the maintenance department of Baldwin Hardware Co., Reading, for 28 years. He was also a self-employed farmer.
Kauffman was a World War II Army veteran.
He was a former steward of the Bernville Grange and was named “Granger of the Year” in 1995.
Kauffman was a member of Bern Lutheran Church, Bern Township.
Also surviving are two sons, Dennis E. Kauffman and Ronald L. Kauffman, both of Bernville; and three daughters: Earlene I. (Kauffman) Hecker, Exeter Township; and Lorene A. (Kauffman) Triviets and Ilene J. (Kauffman) Batz, both of Bernville.
There are also eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sarah (Kauffman) Spitler, Wernersville.

Megan E. Long
Services were held in the Bean Funeral Home, Reading, for Megan E. Long, 41-day-old daughter of Shaun L. Long and Melissa J. Gernert, of Blandon, who died Feb. 18 in Hershey Medical Center, where she had been a patient one week.
Burial was private.
Born in Reading, she is also survived by a brother, Anthony S. Long, and a halfbrother, Dylan M. Gernert, both at home.
Other survivors include her maternal grandparents, David B. Gernert, Muhlenberg Township and Jane M. (DeLong) Gernert, Hamburg; and her paternal grandmother, Mary A. Long, Blandon.
There are also her maternal great-grandparents, Norman A. and Ruth DeLong, Hamburg, and Warren Gernert, Muhlenberg Township; and a paternal great-grandfather, Walter S. Fackler, Sinking Spring.

Gladys E. Eckenroth
Among the local survivors of Gladys E. (Bowers) Eckenroth, 84, of Cumru Township, who died Feb. 26 in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient since Feb. 13, is a sister, Mamie I. (Bowers) Brownmiller, Shoemakersville.
