A Funeral Mass was held for Franziska Andre, 93, of Southampton, who died July 24 at her daughter’s home in North Wales. She was the widow of Michael J. Andre who died in 1979. Born in Kowatschi, Rumania, she came to the United States in 1952, with her husband and children. Andre was a lifelong member of St. Henry’s German American Catholic Church. Having served for over 30 years with the Fr. Kolping Society, Little Flower H.S., Danubeschwaben German Club and other organizations. Andre is survived by two sons, Michael Andre, Boyertown; Joseph Andre of Fairbanks, Alaska; three daughters, Franziska Schneider, Southamp-ton, Elizabeth Botscheller, Boyertown, Helga M. Brino, North Wales. Also 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Memorial contributions in her memory may be sent to the St. John Neumann Shrine, 1019 N. 5th St., Phila., PA. 19123. The arrangements were handled by the James J. McGhee Funeral Home, Southampton, PA.
VIVA V. SPOHN
Services were held for Viva V. Spohn, 84, formerly of Miller Road, Alsace Township, who died July 19 in Berks Heim Annex, where she had resided since 1999. Her husband, Paul G. Spohn, died in 1993. Born in Ringtown, Schuylkill County, she had been employed as a hosiery worker by the Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing, until retiring. Surviving is a niece, Kathy A. Eck, Laureldale. The arrangements were handled by the Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Inc., Reading.
FREDERICK SIMON
Services were held for Frederick "Fritz" Simon, 86, husband of Marie A. (Lukasavage) Simon, of The Colonnade, Schwenksville, formerly of Perkiomenville and Roxborough, who died July 19 at Grandview Hospital, Sellersville. Born in Wald, West Germany, he worked in Philadelphia as the head building attendant in the building management department of the Philadelphia Electric Co. for over 25 years, retiring in 1978. Prior to that he was a painter with his brother, Walter Simon in the Philadelphia area. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
·He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills UCC, Sassamansville, where he was a volunteer maintenance helper for over 12 years. He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Manayunk. Simon was a member of the Boyertown Golden Agers and the Boyertown Senior Citizens Center. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Frederick Simon Jr., of Wayne; a daughter, JoAnn L., wife of Roger Kratz of Barto; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to Shepherd of the Hills UCC Youth Ministry, 527 Hoffmansville Road, Bechtels-ville, PA 19505. Burial was private. The arrangements were handled by the Falk Funeral Home, Pennsburg.
CLIFFORD H. REINHART
A memorial service was held for Clifford H. Reinhart, 82, husband of Pearl R. (Stoudt) Reinhart, of West Ridge Pike, Limerick, who died July 18 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Pennsburg, he was employed as a production manager at Superior Tube Company, Collegeville, for 20 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a veteran corporal of the U.S. Marines, serving during World War II on the USS Point Cruiz and USS Renova aircraft carriers. Reinhart was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Limerick. He was involved in various bowling leagues in the Limerick area. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, JoAnn, wife of Brian Hermann, of Boyertown; two grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by two brothers. Memorial donations may be made to St. James United Church of Christ, 321 South Limerick Road, Limerick, PA 19468. The arrangements were handled by the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., Boyertown.
ALICE SCULL
Services and burial were private for Alice (Waite) Scull, 91, wife of Walter L. Scull, Sassamansville, and formerly of Boyertown and Schwenksville, who died July 20 at her home. She was born in Merchantville, N.J. For 21 years, Scull was a production control clerk for the Teleflex Co. in Limerick. She retired in 1983. Surviving are a daughter, H. Marthanne "Marty" Anderton of Sassamansville; and a sister. The arrangements were handled by the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Royersford.
LOVINA F. PENNYPACKER
Graveside services were held for Lovina F. Pennypacker, Walnuttown Road, Ruscombmanor Township, who died July 20 in Berks Heim Annnex, where she had resided for eight weeks. Her husband, Leo A. Pennypacker, died in 1981. She was born in Bernville. Surviving are a daughter, Mary E. (Pennypacker) Welch, Dallas, Texas; and two sons: Stanley P., Spring Mills, Centre County, and Carl L., Reading. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. The arrangements were handled by the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home Inc., Fleetwood.
RUTH L. FRITZ
Services were held for Ruth L. Fritz, 69, of N. Seventh St., Bally, who died July 20 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. She was the wife of Robert L. Fritz. Born in Wanamakers, she was a registered nurse, and had been employed as a nurse by the Allentown General Hospital, and was last employed 22 years as a nurse by the Bally Medical Center, retiring in 1985. She was a 1948 graduate of Slatington High School, Slatington, Lehigh County and a 1951 graduate of the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing. Fritz was a member and former councilwoman of Jacob’s United Church of Christ, New Tripoli, Lehigh County. She is also survived by a brother. The arrangements were handled by the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home, New Tripoli.
JUNE L. ATKINS
A memorial service will be held at a later date for June L. Anderson Atkins, 77, Oley, who died July 19 at the Berkshire Center, 5501 Perkiomen Ave., Exeter Township, where she had been a patient. She was born in Reiffton and was the wife of George T. Atkins for 45 years. Atkins was a graduate of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing and worked at several hospitals before joining the U.S. Navy as an RN. She served at various Naval Hospitals both in the U.S. and overseas and is a Korean War Veteran. She resigned from the Navy as a Lieutenant USN (RN) to become a homemaker. She was vice president and board member of the Reading Box Co. Inc. A member of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, Douglassville, she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She belonged to many organizations including the American Legion, Oley Post 878, Historical Society of Berks County, serving for several years as a Docent. She was also vice president of Youth Education Valley Forge Chapter of Freedoms Foundation, for many years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Lance Atkins, Sinking Springs, Jennifer L. (Atkins) Lehr, Sinking Springs and Brent Atkins, Exeter Township, eight grandchildren and four sisters. Atkins body is being donated to medical research for study of Vascular Dementia and Lyme Disease from which she died. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Historical Society of Berks County, 940 Center Ave., Reading, PA 19601.
THRESA A. DAY
Services were held for Thresa A. (Anhalt) Day, 76, widow of Alfred H. Day Sr., of North Walnut Street, Boyertown, who died July 21 at Manatawny Manor, East Coventry. Born in Swainton, N.J., she was a graduate of Middle Township Area High School, N.J. Day was a member of the Perkiomen Valley Brethren in Christ Church, Perkiomen. She was also a member of the Good Sam, Campers for Christ and Wings of Shasta camping clubs. She is survived by three sons, Alfred H. Day, Lower Providence, Thomas E. Day, Lower Providence, and Dennis A. Day, Upper Providence; two daughters, Betty S. Minnis, Limerick, and Lorraine D. Hespell, Douglass (Mont.) Township; two sisters; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Perkiomen Valley Brethren in Christ Church, 46 Trappe Road, Graterford, PA 19426. The arrangements were handled by the Holcombe Funeral Home Inc., Main St., Trappe.
PERRY R. NEIFFER
Services were held for Perry R. Neiffer, 82, who died July 21 in the Phoenixville Hospital emergency room. He was taken there from the Montgomery County Geriatric and Rehabilitation Center, Royersford, where he had resided for many years. His wife, Gladys (Stetler) Neiffer, died in 1985. Born in Limerick, he was employed 38 years as a die caster by Doehler-Jarvis Corp., Stowe, Montgomery County, retiring in 1967. Neiffer was a member of Royersford Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Neiffer) Lawrenson, Albany, N.Y.; and three sons: Robert P. and Perry R. Jr., both of Boyertown; and Frederick, Royersford. Other survivors include a brother; two sisters; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The arrangements were handled by the L. W. Ott Funeral Home Inc., Boyertown.
