Lidija Tupitis, 89, of Richland Township, formerly of Latvia, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital, Quakertown.
Funeral services were held Dec. 21. Interment
was in St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ Cemetery , Perkasie.
She was the wife of the late Eduards Tupitis.
Born in Aizpute, Latvia, she was the daughter of the late Karlis and Auguste (Putnaerglis) Ernstsons.
She had been employed as a seamstress for the Phoenix clothing factory, Quakertown. Prior to that, she worked for the William Fretz and Sons Pants factory, Bedminster, Harvey Clothing, Quakertown and Shawnee-Penn Manufacturing, Quakertown. She retired in 1979.
She was a member of the Bucks County Latvian Baptist Church, Applebachsville. She sang in church choirs in Latvia and Germany.
She is survived by: one daughter, Vizma Tupitis, of Richland Township; three sisters, Anna Reinis, of Quakertown, Lilija Kimanska, of Latvia and Rasma Chamberlin, of San Jose, Calif. She was predeceased by a brother, Alfred Ernstsons.

Grace M. Sames
Grace M. Sames, 85, of Richlandtown, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at Valley Manor Nursing Center, Coopersburg.
Funeral services were held Dec. 21. Interment
was in Richlandtown Union Cemetery , Richlandtown.
She was the wife of C. Stanley Sames for 47 years.
Born in Richlandtown, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Carrie (Lewis) Ernie.
She assisted her husband in the operation of the Richland Feed Co., Richlandtown, for over 20 years before retiring. She and her husband also worked a farm in Richlandtown for many years.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Richlandtown, and a member of the Richlandtown Fire Co. Auxiliary.
She is survived by: two sons, Ronald C. Sames, of Richlandtown, Gerald L. Sames, of Souderton; one daughter, Karlene, of Richlandtown; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one daughter, Janice.

Nora B. Reinsons
Nora B. Reinsons, 67, of Souderton, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 in her home.
Funeral services were held Dec. 20.
She was the wife of the late Juris “Jerry” Reinsons.
Born in Riga, Latvia, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Karline (Vibe) Balodis.
She was a member of the Latvian Lutheran Church of Bucks County & Vicinity, where she was a former choir member.
She is survived by: one son, Ivars J., of Quakertown; one brother, Peter Balodis II, of Souderton.

Cyri C. Mattern
Cyri C. Mattern, 52, of Sellersville, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002 in her home.
Services were held Dec. 23. Interment
was in Sellersville Cemetery .
She was the wife of Harry W. Mattern for 33 years.
Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Audrey C. (Hoffman) Alder of Sellersville and the late Philip Joseph Alder.
She had been employed for many years as a lab manager with Thomas Angelo Photography Studios, Chalfont.
She was a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, where she was actively involved with the Music Program and directed the guitar choir. An accomplished soloist, she often sang at mass, weddings and funerals. She was also a member of the Upper Bucks Choral Arts Society.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by: one son, Eric W. Mattern, of Pennsburg; one daughter, Erin E. Maxymillian, of Gilbertsville; two sisters, Beverly Clark, of Fairhope and Audrey Walker, of Friedens; one brother, Philip John Alder of Sellersville; one granddaughter.

Walter R. Hagey
Walter R. Hagey, 93, of Telford, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002 at the Lutheran Community at Telford.
Funeral services were held Dec. 21.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy E. (Rosenberger) Hagey.
Born in Hatfield, he was a son of the late Justus T. and Martha M. (Scheetz) Hagey.
He was vice-president of Fidelity Bank, formerly the Fidelity-Philadelphia Trust Co. from 1929-1974.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Springfield Twp.
He was past treasurer and supply pastor of the Eastern PA Synod, Lutheran Church of America. He served on numerous church boards and agencies in the Southeastern PA Synod and the Lutheran Church in America including being on the Executive Committee of the Lutheran Council in USA from 1962-1974; treasurer of home missions, inner missions and Christian Education of the Eastern PA Synod.
He is survived by: one son, the Rev. Dr. Donald C. hagey of Bethlehem; two grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by a son, Walter Richard Hagey.

Harold Williams

Harold F. Williams, Sr., age 78, of Cherry Township, Dushore, RR1, PA, passed away at his home late Saturday evening, Feb. 1, 2003.
He was born in Wysox on Oct. 14, 1924, a son of the late Harry K. and Freda Shaylor Williams.
Mr. Williams was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II.
On Jan. 14, 1955, he married the former Eva Marie Willmeth. His wife preceded him in death on Dec. 17, 1984.
Mr. Williams was a longtime resident of the Towanda area until moving to Ohio in the early 1950s.
Harold and his family moved to Dushore in 1968 from Elmore, OH. At this time, Harold drove truck and continued to travel thousands and thousands of miles until his retirement from Towanda Beverage Company in 1986.
Harold enjoyed everything about life and found good in everyone he met. His belief was everyone should accept that we are all different and should make great efforts to get along.
His love for music was just one of his many joys in life.
His musical talent of singing and being able to play any musical instrument brought joy to everyone who listened - he enjoyed playing with the boys in his band, "Mel and the Drifters."
Harold loved people and found much joy and happiness in being Grampy to all his wonderful grandchildren.
He left surviving his eight children and spouses, Harold F. Williams, Jr. of Buffalo, NY, Terry A. Williams of New Albany, David L. Williams of New Albany, Mary L. and David Lupold of Lewisberry, Debra L. and Donald Boecker of Forksville, Margieanne and Larry Stoudt of Dushore, Timothy R. Williams of New Albany, Tina M. and Matt McGroarty of New Albany; a very special loving friend, Lucy Hemenway of Towanda; brothers and sister-in-law, Lewis and Barb Williams of Mountain Lake, Roger Williams of Pottstown; sisters and brothers-in-law, Reva Rine of Muncy, Shirley and Alan Mathews of Waverly, NY, Pat and Jim Kent of Durell and his 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Eva Marie Williams, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lyle; an infant brother, Romaine and an infant granddaughter, Carley Corine Williams.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. in the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter St., Dushore, with the Rev. Grant Nichols, pastor, officiating.
Interment followed in the Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills.
Friends and family called on Tuesday evening, Feb. 4 at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. A military pass in review was held on Tuesday evening at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
Jennie Ward

Jennie Croft Ward, age 87, highly regarded resident of Towanda RR2, Towanda Township, PA, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2002
at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Towanda Memorial Hospital.
Jennie was born June 8, 1915 in Sugar Run, a daughter of the late Lewis and Isabell Johnson Croft. In early years, Jennie was employed by the Towanda Folding Box Company and also served as caretaker of the Hornbrook Park for many years. Jennie was well-known as one of the finest cooks and bakers in the area and will be remembered for her pork cutlets, which she made in her home and distributed to her many area friends. Throughout her life, Jennie was constantly giving of herself to others with her helping hand and many kindnesses. Her unceasing love of her children and grandchildren was predominant in her life, and her home and heart were always open to others. With kindness, friendliness and sincerity, Jennie touched numerous lives within the community. She will be deeply missed.
Surviving are her children, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Mader of Myersburg, Mrs. James (Virginia) Neiley of Myersburg, Donald and Sylvia Anderson of Tunkhannock; eight grandchildren, Connie Eddy of Myersburg, Pamela Thompson of Lake Wesauking, Penny Wood of Myersburg, Vicki Lynn Hogan of Wyalusing, Candi Sue McKernan of New Albany, Clinton Anderson of Hornbrook, Randy Vanderpool of Spring Lake, Kay Johnson of Franklindale; nine great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Lewis, Jr. and Lillian Croft of New Era; a sister, Doris Simons of Elmira, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins and very good friends, Jim and Marilyn Place of Towanda RR2.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clinton L. Anderson in 1959 and Carl W. "Curly" Ward in 1984; a brother, Harry Croft and a sister, Anna Vanderpool.
The family received friends on Thursday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda.
The funeral and committal services were held on Friday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harry L. Ferguson, officiating.
Interment was in the Camptown Cemetery .
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Skilled Nursing Unit, Memorial Hospital, 1 Hospital Drive, Towanda, PA 18848 in Jennie Ward’s memory.
Dave Fleming
Word has been received of the death of Dave Fleming, age 72. Dave lived in Fisher, Indiana
Dave was formerly of Wyalusing, graduating with the Class of 1948. In high school, he was a pitcher for the baseball team. Other extra-curricular activities included band and chorus.
Dave started college in Florida, but interrupted his schooling to serve a hitch with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his service time, he returned to earn a degree in Business Administration. Over the years, he managed several private clubs, the last being manager of food operations for the Scottish Rite, retiring from that position in 1995; previous to this he was a manager for 15 years for the prestigious Woodland Country Club.
Dave was the widower of Susan W. Atkins Fleming, who died as the result of a tragic one car accident. Surviving are: sons, Michael F. Fleming and Mark T. Fleming; brother, Michael F. Fleming of Middleburg, PA. In addition he is survived by three grandchildren, in whom he took great pride in sharing their school activities.
Services were held Jan. 2, 2003 at 10 a.m. in Second Presbyterian Church of which he was a member. No visitation hours were scheduled at Dave's request.
J. William Gager

J. William Gager, 82, of Damascus, died Monday morning, September 9, 2002 after an illness. He was married to the late Mavis White Gager who passed away in 1995.
Born in Cold Spring, June 11, 1920, he was the son of the late Judson L. and Hazel Miller Gager. He was a member of the Galilee United Methodist Church, the Unity Grange of Galilee, the Wayne-Pike Pamona Grange, and the PA State and National Granges. Bill was also a member of the Damascus Volunteer Ambulance Corps and was an active Red Cross Volunteer.
For many years he operated a dairy farm in Galilee and was also employed by the PA Department of Transportation, the Upper Delaware Campgrounds in Callicoon and C.E. Mills of Callicoon. He was also a self-employed painter and wallpaperer.
He is survived by a son, William J. Gager, Damascus; a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Walter Long, Damascus; a brother, Robert Gager, Binghamton, NY; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: David and Arthur Gager and two sisters: Alma Hardler and Daisy Gager.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2002 in the Damascus United Methodist Church with Rev. George Gallandorm officiating. Interment
will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery , Galilee.
