She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1944; three sons, Clifton Marbaker, Howard Marbaker and Lee Marbaker; two sons-in-law, Donald Swindler and Joseph Bonczek and a grandson, William Emmenger.
She worked at the Garden House for Adults for 25 years and was the administrator for the last 10 years. She was a graduate of Ridley Lowell Business School.
Survivors include her children, Bernice Swindler, Johnson City, Mildred and Francis Hague, Johnson City, Morton and Kay Marbaker, Conklin, Clarence (Tom) and Glenda Marbaker, Retta, Ruth and Larry Chapman, Conklin, Aubrey and Joyce Marbaker, Binghamton and June Bonczek, Binghamton; her daughters-in-law, Betty Marbaker, Rushboro, Audrey Marbaker, Retta, BettyAnn Marbaker, Tunkhannock; 24 grandchildren, Dawn and George Smeeton, Raymond Marbaker, Robert Hague and Fern, Kathryn Chapman, Judy and Frank Hilkirk, Jimmy Marbaker, Ted and Diane Marbaker, Penny and husband, Patty Merritt, Paul Marbaker, Allen and Carol Marbaker, Marle and Steve Smith, Duane and Carol Marbaker, Gary and Sue Marbaker, Teresa Youncs, Larry and Debbie Brewer, William Marbaker, Rebecca Colwell, Kathy, Linda and Jeff Miller, Leeanne and Tom Oakley, Danny and Stacy Marbaker, Michael Bonczek and Sandy Skinner; 47 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 31 at 12 noon at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St., Johnson City with Dr. Dariel Ling, pastor of the Sarah Jane United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Beaver Meadows Cemetery , Clapper Hill.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Marian Dunning Sharpe, 93, of Somers Point, NJ and Casco, ME, died on Thursday, March 29, 2001 at the Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, PA. She was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University in 1932.
She was the widow of Lewis E. Sharpe. They lived in West Caldwell for many years, where Lewis taught mathematics at both the Grover Cleveland and James Caldwell High Schools. Marian was a member of the St. Peter's United Methodist Church in Ocean City, NJ, the Alpha Chi Omega Society, the South Jersey Retired Teachers Association and the Penn State Alumni Association.
Survivors include her son, Walter L. Sharpe of Stockton, NJ; one daughter, Joyce A. Rankin of Seaville, NJ; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the St. Peter's United Methodist Church, on the corner of 8th St. and Central Avenue in Ocean City, NJ.
Burial will be in the Vaughn Cemetery in Mehoopany.

Edith M. Wilmarth, age 91, of RR1, Box 1548, Laceyville, PA, passed away at the Meadowview Senior Living Center in Montrose early Saturday morning, March 31, 2001.
Born on Russell Hill, Tunkhannock Township, Wyoming County, on Nov. 21, 1909, she was the daughter of the late James Monroe and Minnie Welteroth Johnson.
Mrs. Wilmarth was a dietary technician at the Methodist Manor and also the Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock for many years. She was employed as a clerk at Charles Brothers, also in Tunkhannock.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, with whom she lived for many years, George F., Sr. and Hazel Wilmarth of Laceyville; her grandchildren, Donna Gleason, George Wilmarth, Jr., Susan Hoeffner, Dale Wilmarth, Karen Herron and Duane Wilmarth; 14 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Mowery and Ada Berry and two brothers, Frank Johnson and William Johnson.
Abiding by the wishes of Mrs. Wilmarth, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Arrangements were made through the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville.
Mr. Cyrus T. Baker, age 80, of RR2, Box 2053, Laceyville, PA, (Indian Hill), passed away at his home on Sunday morning, May 20, 2001.
Born in Meshoppen on Oct. 26, 1920, he was the son of the late Francis and Eliza Brotzman Baker. Mr. Baker was employed as a manager at Cornell Manufacturing in Laceyville for 36 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church in Laceyville. He was also a member of the Meshoppen Grange, the Oriental Grange and the Pomona Grange and was Master of the Wyoming County Chapter for many years. A past member of the Good Will Fire Company of Laceyville, he was a past member of the Overfield Cemetery Association of Meshoppen.
Cy is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Shirley White; a son and his wife, Arden and Diane Baker of Meshoppen; four daughters and their husbands, Miss Sharon Baker of Laceyville, Janet and Malcolm Wech of Wyalusing, Dolores and Gilbert Sands of Tunkhannock and Kimberly and Anthony Johnson of Laceyville; a brother, Walter Baker of West Melbourne, FL; two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Bennett of Stevensville and Mrs. Leland (Mable) Wood of Vestal, NY; 11 grandchildren, Jesse Baker of Johnson City, NY, Luke Baker and Angie Baker, both of Meshoppen, Asa Stevens, Seth Stevens and Jay Stevens, all of Springville, Edna Sands of Punxsutawney, Roy Sands and Bobbi Jo Sands, both of Tunkhannock and Branden and Autumn Johnson, both of Laceyville; two step-grandchildren, Scott Wech of Las Vegas, NV and Dennis Wech of Kileen, TX; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Baker and Jenny Baker and three brothers, George, John and Joseph Baker.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church with Rev. Ann Blair, his pastor, officiating. Interment
will be in Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen. Family and friends called at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Gordon Marlyn Baker, age 68, of Church St., Meshoppen, PA, passed away at the Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton on Monday, May 14, 2001.
Born in Binghamton, NY on March 20, 1933, he was the son of the late Arthur Joseph and Euphrasia Stevens Baker.
Mr. Baker was a graduate of the Meshoppen High School, Class of 1952. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served with the U.S. Occupational Forces in Germany. He was employed for many years by J.J. Bunnell of Meshoppen and also the Bendix Corporation of South Montrose, from where he retired.
He attended the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church and was a member of the Meshoppen Fire Company.
Surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Dolores Baker of Dimock; a sister and brother-in-law, Virgie and Richard Learn of Laceyville; two nephews, Gregory Learn of St. Petersburg, FL and Jeffrey Learn of Port Orange, FL and a niece, Larice McCann of New Castle, DE.
Memorial services will be held at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Meshoppen, on Friday, May 25 at 2 p.m. Interment
will be at the Jersey Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Carol E. Grabowski, age 83, of 123 East Main St., Dushore, PA, died on Friday morning, May 18, 2001 at The Highlands Nursing Home in Laporte, following a lingering illness.
She was born on November 14, 1917 in Rush, a daughter of Walter and Lea Shaner Jagger.
Until her retirement in 1983, she had been a nurse at Carpenter Care Center in Tunkhannock.
Her husband, the late Stanley Grabowski, preceded her in death by many years.
For the last three years, she had been a resident of Dushore with her daughter and husband, Carol and Robert Ackley.
Surviving, in addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Robert Ackley, Dushore, are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathleen Thomas of Midland Park, NJ; a sister, Louise McGavin of Lakeland, FL; five grandchildren, Diane Millspaugh, Dennis F. Decker, Allen Thomas, Wiley Thomas and Gustav F. Hiller, Jr.
Funeral services were held on Monday evening, May 21 at 8 p.m. in the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter St., Dushore, with the Rev. Robert W. Brown, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Dushore, officiating.
Friends and family called on Monday at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and from 7 p.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Robert L. Hochberg, 68, of Lock Rd., Berkshire, NY, went to be with his Saviour at his home on Tuesday, May 15, 2001. Born on May 25, 1932 in Dushore, PA, he was a son of the late James and Agnes (Poye) Hochberg. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Hochberg and Jean Potter.
Bob will be deeply missed by his wife of 43 years, Margaret (Brennan) and his daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth K. and James Black of Lake Ariel, Scott Snyder of Horseheads, NY, Jeanette (Jeanie) Hochberg, and his son, Robert Hochberg of Berkshire; his cherished grandchildren, Theresa, Kay, Karen, Maggie, Jonathan and Lily Black and Kayla Snyder; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis Hochberg of Dushore, John Hochberg of Dushore, Jerry and Dot Hochberg of Annville, Joseph and Kim Hochberg of New Albany; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Scanlin of New Albany, Becky Bryan of Columbia Cross Roads, Loretta and Walt Ferguson of Linden and Irene and Joe McMahon of New Albany; a brother-in-law, Bob Potter; several nieces, nephews and cousins, among them his special cousin, Dr. William Hayden.
Bob was a graduate of St. Basil's High School in Dushore, Baptist Bible Seminary, Johnson City and received his Masters in Education from Cortland State Teachers College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict and a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley where he taught Sunday School and was active with the AWANA program. He was an elementary school teacher in the Newark Valley Central School System, retiring in 1992 following 29 years of service. In addition, he was the caretaker and secretary for the Evergreen Cemetery Association, Berkshire, for many years and operated his own small engine repair shop.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19 at the First Baptist Church, Newark Valley, with his pastor, Roger Rosenau and brother-in-law, Dr. James King, officiating. Interment
followed in Evergreen Cemetery , Berkshire.

Miss Shirley A. Taylor of Wyalusing, PA passed away on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001 after a lengthy illness. She was 79.
Shirley was born in Wyalusing on Oct. 18, 1922, the daughter of the late Bascom and Katherine Tompkins Taylor. She graduated from Wyalusing High School, a member of the Class of 1941.
Shirley was a lifelong member of the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church. She was also an active member of the former Wyalusing Chapter #523, Order of Eastern Star and currently the Meshoppen Chapter #70 OES, from which she recently received a 50-year honor and pin to commemorate her years of service. Shirley was also a 50-year member of the Wyalusing Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, having served as Constitution Chairman, Flag Chairman and Chaplain. In her early years, she served as a volunteer Girl Scout leader. She was known throughout the community for her generous spirit and her love of people.
Survivors include her first cousins, Roy Jones of Wyalusing, Lucy Case of Canandaigua, NY, Charlotte Scott of Elmira, NY, Jean Mancus of Alameda, CA, Marion Holzman of Vernon, CT and Robert Taylor of Towanda, as well as by numerous other cousins. She leaves behind many dear and long-time friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 23 with the Rev. Barry Ballard, her pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Members of the Meshoppen Chapter #70 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a funeral service at 9:45 a.m. on Friday morning at the church. Interment
will be in the Lakeview Cemetery , Ithaca, NY at the convenience of the family.

Maurice D. Taylor, age 95, of Montrose, PA died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001 at his residence. Born April 13, 1906 in Dixon, he was the son of the late George and Ora (Thomas) Taylor. In June of 1985, he was married to Charlotte (Stilson) who survives. His first wife, Margaret (Beach) predeceased him.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose.
While he graduated from Montrose High School in 1924, his career in music education began before that at the age of 14. He and his brother offered music lessons and rented musical instruments. He also organized the first Montrose Community Band. After high school, the business continued to expand. He was asked to teach music at Montrose High School in 1927. By 1928, the combined band from the high school and the community won first prize in the Pennsylvania State Finals for small school bands. He also organized massed band concerts which included bands from surrounding communities. One of the larger gatherings included over 600 participants. In 1938, he was asked to print material he was using in organizing bands. This led to the establishment of Montrose Music House and Taylor’s Publishing Company. The first series of books was called "Easy Steps to the Band." He put together over 158 music books.
In 1945, he sold the business to Mills Music, Inc. in New York City to devote more time to teaching. In 1955, he retired the first time from Montrose High School, but stayed active in music by writing and traveling to college campuses as a guest speaker. In 1967, he returned to Montrose High School to teach music and retired again in 1972. He was called the dean of Pennsylvania school band directors by his fellow members of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association in which he was a lifetime member. In 1980, he was granted an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Susquehanna University and 1993, received a Citation of Excellence from the National Band Masters Association.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Janet M. Taylor of Westchester, IL; a daughter-in-law, Edith W. Taylor, Charlotte, NC; a son-in-law, William Green of York; six grandchildren, Marcia Rhyne, Suzanne Kinne, William Green, Jr., Deborah Geer, Pamela Barbuto, Susan Duran; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis and Leon Taylor; two sons, Dr. Donald J. Taylor and Gordon D. Taylor and a daughter, Margaret Green.
Services were held on Monday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Montrose. The family provided all the flowers and suggests that if desired, memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose, 71 Church St., Montrose, PA 18801.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bartron Funeral Home, Inc., 74 Church St., Montrose.
