April 18, 1920 - August 25, 2004

Avanell K. Calhoun, 84 of Kennedy Lane, Butler, died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 2:05 p.m. in U.P.M.C. Presbyterian.

Born April 18, 1920 in Brandy Camp, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William H. Nulph and Geraldine Stewart.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Calhoun was a homemaker and in her earlier years she worked for Troutman's Department store.

Mrs. Calhoun is survived by her husband William "Bill" Calhoun, whom she marriage on October 18, 1938. Survived by one son and his wife, Chuck and Lou Calhoun of Florence, Texas, one daughter and her husband, Betty and Tom Uber of Butler, Pennsylvania, by three grand-daughters, Michele Chiprean of Erie, Pennsylvania, Beth Wilbert of Fenelton, Pennsylvania, Wendy Calhoun of Florence, Texas, one grandson, Kelly Calhoun of Georgetown, Texas, seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Ellen Hepler of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Dolores Witherow of Franklin, Pennsylvania, one brother and his wife, Richard "Dick" and Janice Nulph of Butler, Pennsylvania, and by a number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her extended family, Lorie Troyan and her husband Gene and their sons, Chad and Shane of Butler, Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Calhoun is preceded in death by her one brother, William Nulph.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Friday, August 27, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, August 28, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend J. David Panther officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum of Butler County Memorial Park.

Raymond Dale Rensel

January 13, 1929 - August 25, 2004

Raymond Dale Rensel 75, of Alexi Lane, Butler, died Wednesday evening at 7:53 p.m. in the Emergency Room of the Butler Hospital.

He was born January 13, 1929 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Archie and Nora Maxwell Rensel.

Mr. Rensel retired after 41 years as a turn foreman of the Strip Shears department of Armco. He served on the Pennsylvania Fish Commission for several years. He was a member of the CB Rangers. He loved his family and all of nature. He loved bird watching and listening to country music.

He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church in Meridian.

Mr. Rensel is survived by his wife and best friend of 57 years, Arlene Eakin Rensel. He was the beloved father of 5 children; Daughter, Ms. Trina Rensel of Evans City, daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Jeffrey Johnson of Butler, three sons and daughter-in-laws, Rodney and Drusilla Rensel, Kim and Chris Rensel and Lonnie and Kelli Rensel all of Butler. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, five grandsons, Todd, Chad, Brian and Colin Rensel and Travis Keene, seven granddaughters, Jennifer Flaugh, Brandi Maser, Lisa Shearer, Amber Goldstein, Megan Eshenbaugh, Kelly Johnson and Emily Rensel, and seven great-grandchildren. In addition, Mr. Rensel is survived by one sister, Mrs. Robert (Judy) Winrader of Butler.

Mr. Rensel was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers and an infant grandson.

Friends and Family of Raymond Rensel will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 on Friday, August 27, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be from the funeral home on Saturday, August 28, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. Robert C. Peterson of St John's Reformed Church officiating. Interment will follow in The Greenlawn Burial Estates Mt. Chestnut

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Johns Reformed Church, Meridian Station, Box 30, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001

Cora V. Yockey

December 14, 1935 - August 22, 2004

Cora V. Yockey, 68 of Home Avenue, Butler, died Sunday, August 22, 2004 at 7:22 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born December 14, 1935 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Samuel Groves and Elizabeth Willis Groves Ward.

She owned and operated her own beauty shop for 28 years. She also worked for Thompson-Miller Funeral Home as a hairdresser since the early 1970's. She was a member and very active at the First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Yockey is survived by her husband Russell R. Yockey, Sr., whom she marriage on June 24, 1961, by three sons and their wives, Russell and Mary Ann Yockey, Jr., Randall A. and Sara-Jean Yockey, Ronald P. and Jill Yockey, five grandchildren, Katlyn, Kelly, Evin, Michael, and Curtis, one brother, Leroy B. and Bernyce Groves of Orlando, Florida, four sister, Mrs. Clyde (Ruth) Newcome, Mrs. James (Mary) Ward, Mrs. William (Jean) Flatt, Mrs. Fred (Joan) Thompson all of Butler, Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Yockey was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend David Maitland officiating. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Memorial Park, Worthington.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Christian School, 221 West New Castle Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.

William Creigh Graham

January 17, 1914 - August 21, 2004

William Creigh Graham, 90 Formerly of Cecelia Street, Butler, died Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 11:20 a.m. in the Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.

Born January 17, 1914 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Harry L. Graham and Julia Creigh.

Mr. Graham graduated from Butler High School in January of 1932. He attended Washington and Jefferson College receiving an arts of the bachelor degree in 1936 and his masters in 1940. He belonged to the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

Mr. Graham was a Social Studies teacher at Butler High School from 1936 to 1942. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946, the U. S. Army Reserve from 1946 to 1968 and retiring as Lt. Colonel, Medical Service Corps. He was coordinator, rehabilitation medicine service and hospital community relations officer at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Butler, from 1946 to 1978. He was a certified member of American Association of Medicine Rehabilitation Directors and Coordinators, member of American Society for Hospital Public Relations Officers (American Hospital Assoc), served as member of the Vestry and as Senior Warden of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Mr. Graham was a former member of the Diocesan Council Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh and was awarded the Butler Jaycees "Senior Man of the Year" designation for 1970.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Friday, August 27, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with the chaplain of the VA Medical Center, Henry B. Hall officiating. Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery.

Contributions may be sent to St. Peter's Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, 215 East Jefferson Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001 or to the Boy Scouts of America, Moraine Trails Council Endowment Fund, 830 Morton Avenue Ext., Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.
