Gordon A. Fleeger, age 70 of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 9:45 a.m. at his residence.
Born September 22, 1935 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Frank W. Fleeger and the late Marie Schenck.
Mr. Fleeger was a crane operator for Armco Steel retiring after 39 years of service. He was a member of Rider Lutheran Church and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Fleeger enjoyed NASCAR racing, gardening and hunting.
Mr. Fleeger is survived by one son, Richard Fleeger and his wife Laura; three daughters and their husbands, Mrs. Richard (Donna) Clauser, Mrs. Chris (Lynda) Cumberland, Mrs. Robert (Joy Ann) Bowser; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his dog Bo.
Mr. Fleeger was preceded in death by his grandson and both his parents.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday, June 9, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. with Reverend Dennis R. Hindman, Sr. of Rider Lutheran Church officiating.

Mabel A. Hays, age 71 of Hays Lane, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, June 5, 2006 at 1:51 p.m. in the Life Care of Pittsburgh, Wilkensburg, Pittsburgh.
Born February 6, 1935 in East Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Harry Thomas and the late Martha Gilbert.
Mrs. Hays was a homemaker. She was a member of East Butler Presbyterian Church and a life member of the ladies auxiliary of the East Butler Fireman's Club.
Mrs. Hays is survived by her husband, Eugene P. Hays whom she marriage on October 27, 1952, by one son, Randy Hays of Butler, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Jeannie Reges of Chicora, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Lee (Terri) Gumpp of Butler, Pennsylvania, Patty Hays of Eau Claire, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three brothers, Harry Thomas of East Brady, Pennsylvania, Fred Thomas of Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania, James Thomas of East Butler, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Sarah) Bortmas of East Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Leonard (Janet) Nocera of Butler, Pennsylvania and also by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hays was preceded in death by two brothers.

Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Mary Sickles of East Butler Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
William "Ben or Ping" Hogan
November 29, 1919 - June 1, 2006
William Myron Hogan, age 86 of 301 Wilson Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 4:50 p.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born November 29, 1919 in West Monterey, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Milton Floyd Hogan and the late Edna Sarah Elizabeth (Libengood) Hogan.
Mr. Hogan worked as an electrical engineer for West Penn Power Company and retired in 1983. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. During WWII Mr. Hogan served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, as a glider pilot and participated in the D-Day invasion of Normandy and in the European theater. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh earning a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering. He was a member of Victory Lodge 694, Masonic Lodge F.& A.M., past master of Victory Lodge #694 and a past high priest of Royal Arch Chapter #273, Butler. He was also a member of Lorraine Commandry and a member of Masonic Council #61, both in Butler. Mr. Hogan was also a member of the Butler Elks Lodge #170 and a member of various golf leagues.
Mr. Hogan is survived by son, Dennis G. Hogan and his wife Valerie, two daughters, M. Diane Paraska and her husband James and Lisa E. McCarren and her husband Fred all of Butler, Pennsylvania; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hogan was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Elnora Mohney Hogan whom he marriage on March 14, 1942 and who passed away on April 3, 2004.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday, June 5, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. J. David Panther of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
Officers and members of the Victory Lodge F. & A.M. will meet at the funeral home on Monday, June 5, 2006 at 6:45 p.m. for a Masonic service.

Marjorie Marie McCune

Marjorie Marie McCune, age 78 Maple Dr., Renfrew, PA, died Monday, July 31, 2006 at 2:50 P.M. in her Home.
Born October 13, 1927 in Summit Twp. Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Samuel Joseph Turner and the late Margaret Elizabeth Watterson.
Mrs. McCune worked in the Tax Claim Bureau and personal property division for the tax assessment office of Butler County for twenty years. She was a member of North Street Christian Church and Tanglewood Senior Center.
Mrs. McCune is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Debora Sarver and her husband Dale of Evans City, PA; one son, Mr. Dennis McCune and his wife Patti of Prospect, PA; Three grand-daughters, Jennifer Blank, Melissa DeMeio, and Tracy LeFevre; one grandson, Jesse McCune; Nine Great Grandchildren, Thirteen Nieces and Nephews; Three sisters, Mrs. James (Iris) Wood of Butler, Pennsylvania, Vivian Kalberer of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Chester (Twila) Cypher of Medina, Ohio
Mrs. McCune was preceded in death by One Brother Samuel Turner and One Sister Margaret (Peg) Thoma.

John B. Yoder
April 21, 1919 - July 30, 2006
John B. Yoder, the former president of the Butler County Mushroom Farm (Moonlight Mushrooms), died Sunday at Butler County Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Yoder of Dutchtown Road was born April 21, 1919, in Philadelphia to Joseph and Lessie Blosser Yoder. As a child, he was active in the Boy Scouts, where he learned to identify birds and bird songs, a hobby he enjoyed throughout his life. He graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering in 1941 and worked for two years at Union Carbide before serving with the Marine Corps in the South Pacific Theater during World War II. During Mr. Yoder's tenure as president, Moonlight Mushrooms became the largest supplier of fresh mushrooms in the world. He pioneered research efforts that led to the development of the efficient large batch production of mushroom spawn (seeds). He also initiated the adoption of a vacuum cooling process, which helped keep mushrooms fresh for supermarket sales. Another area of leadership was his support of innovative compost making techniques that are used throughout the mushroom industry today. Mr. Yoder was president of the Irene Stacy Mental Health Clinic board and a member of the Advisory Board of the Butler Branch of the Mellon Bank. He was a supporter of the Butler County Community College, the Butler and Saxonburg libraries, the University of Michigan and the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY.
Mr. Yoder is survived by a sister, Mary Louise Hicks of Williamsburg, Va., and her husband, Harry. He also is survived by his children, Margo Yoder of Denver, Colo., Heidi McClain and her husband, Paul, of Littleton, Colo., Cindy Yoder, of Polk, John I. Yoder and his wife, Wendy, of Davis, Calif., Tracy Yoder of Littleton and their mother, Virginia Dignan Yoder of Denver. His grandchildren are Ned and Bradley McClain of Boulder and Jack and Sam Yoder of Davis. He also is survived by his companion of 12 years, Abigail Farnum McGuire of Allison Park.
Mr. Yoder was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Yoder of Tequesta, Fla., and his wife, Quinn.
A memorial service for John B. Yoder, who died Sunday, July 30, 2006, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson Street, Butler, Pennsylvania.

Sharon A. Landgraf

Sharon A. Landgraf, age 58 of West Penn Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at 10:00 p.m. in St. John Specialty Care.
Born September 14, 1948 in Suffern, New York she was the daughter of John Straut and the late Ima Emanus.
Ms. Landgraf was a stock person/cashier for Wal-Mart, in the Butler store.
Ms. Landgraf is survived by her son, Greg Landgraf of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; her father, John Straut, three sisters, Mrs. Butch (Virginia) Spinella of Kissimmee, Florida, Margo Porcelli of Old Tappan, New Jersey, Jacqueline Straut of Kent, New York, one brother, Jack Straut of Gore, Oklahoma and by numerous nieces and nephews.
