Mary C. Joy, age 93 of Piper Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, June 29, 2007 at 12:55 p.m. in the Lowrie House.
Born June 2, 1914 in Natrona, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Jacob W. Carr and the late Lila Harrison Carr.
Mrs. Joy was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Joy was a member of the Armco Country Club, where she played and enjoyed golf and bridge. She was also active with other bridge groups.
Mrs. Joy is survived by her son, James R. Joy of Jackson Center, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Steven Joy of Mercer, Pennsylvania, Maryann Tofani of Transfer, Pennsylvania, Connie Joy of Sharon, Pennsylvania, Brian Joy of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, Michael Joy of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; three great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter and one daughter-in-law, Karen Joy of Butler, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Joy who passed away on May 22, 1994, and also by one son, Joseph Joy, Jr.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday, July 2, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend J. David Panther of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
William C. "Bill" Shannon
April 18, 1910 - June 27, 2007
William C (Bill). Shannon, age 97 of the Lowrie House, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Shannon Road, Renfrew, Pennsylvania died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 4:35 p.m. in the Lowrie House.
Born in Butler, Pennsylvania on April 18, 1910, he was the son of the late Frank G. Shannon and the late Rose E. Anderson Shannon.
Mr. Shannon was a warehouse manager for Leedom and Worrell, he then became a warehouse manager and salesman for General Mills and a Salesman for P.J. Oesterling. He retired in 1975 as a custodian for the Butler School District. He was a member of White Oaks Springs Presbyterian Church for Eighty-Six Years where he served as an Elder, Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was former member of the Connoquenessing Township School Board, Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Department, and the United Commercial Travelers where he served as past senior counselor. Mr. Shannon was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and also enjoyed farming, hunting, and reading in his earlier years.
Mr. Shannon is survived by one son, William C. Shannon, Jr. of Monroe Ohio and his wife Janet A. Freehling Shannon; two daughters, Virginia "Ginny" Henry and her husband Russell of Renfrew, Pennsylvania, Sue Ellen Anderson and her husband Daniel of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; Eight Grandchildren: Keith D. Shannon and his wife Syreta, Debra L. Kammer, Lori S. Mizgorski and her husband Edward, Brian R. Henry and his wife Jenifer, Traci L. Cotterman, Erik L. Anderson and his wife Kiera, Kristopher T. Anderson and his wife Jennifer, Benjamin D. Anderson and his wife Mary, nine great-grandchildren, one brother, F. Richard Shannon of Butler, Pennsylvania and also by six nieces and five nephews.
Mr. Shannon was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey N. Crispin Shannon whom he marriage on June 15, 1937, she passed away on January 10, 2001. In addition to his wife, Mr. Shannon was preceded in death by one brother Meade E. Shannon and one sister Anabele McGinley.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Monday, July 2, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Lee Dryer of White Oaks Springs Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the memorial fund of White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church or to the donor's charity of choice.
Derrick "Chad" Cowperthwait
Passed away on June 25, 2007
Derrick "Chad" Cowperthwait, age 21 of Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania died Monday, June 25, 2007 at the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Pottstown.
Born in Loris, South Carolina he was the son of the Ronald Scott Cowperthwait and the Terri Lynn Bowser Cowperthwait.
Mr. Cowperthwait was a 2003 graduate of Karns City High School where he was a varsity linebacker (right guard) and offensive and defensive tackle and special teams. He was honored with "Hog of the Week". In track, he was a shot put and discuss thrower. He loved to play PlayStation II and was an avid pool player. He attended Hope Community Church.
Mr. Cowperthwait is survived by his parents, his paternal grandparents, Robert Clinton Cowperthwait, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina and Dianne Martinez of Pennsgrove, New Jersey, his maternal Grandmother, Anita G. Bowser, Chicora, Pennsylvania, two half brothers, Jason Cowperthwait and his wife Lisa, of Pennsville, New Jersey, Ronald Scott Cowperthwait of Tampa, Florida, one great aunt, one niece and many cousins.
Friends in the Pottstown area are invited to attend visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. with the service to follow at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Hope Community Church. Pastor Rick Knarr will officiate.
Friends will also be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Friday evening, June 29, 2007 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, June 30, 2007 from noon to 1:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Barry Leicher officiating. Interment will follow in West Sunbury Union Cemetery.

Betty R. Jaillet

Betty R. Jaillet, age 79 of Chicora Medical Center, Chicora, Pennsylvania, formerly of the Arbor Apartments, Butler, Pennsylvania died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 12:40 a.m. in the Chicora Medical Center.
Born April 2, 1928 in Chicora, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Henry Dally and the late Myrtle Mays Dally.
Mrs. Jaillet was a homemaker. She attended the Christ Outreach Church. Mrs. Jaillet enjoyed reading and needlework.
Mrs. Jaillet is survived by her two sons, Howard L. Jaillet of Easly, South Carolina, David M. Jaillet of Butler, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Helen Orsborn of Renfrew, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Dally of Butler, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mrs. Martin (Marie) Henry of Butler, Pennsylvania, and Esther Fair of Chicora, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jaillet was preceded in death by her husband, Howard O. (Razor) Jaillet whom she marriage on November 6, 1946 and who passed away on October 23, 2006 and also by two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and her brother.

Dale E. Kottraba

Dale E. Kottraba, age 72, of Springfield Court, Renfrew, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 2:15 p.m. in the U.P.M.C. Passavant Hospital.
Born June 28, 1934 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Milo D. and Dorothy Bausman Kottraba.
Mr. Kottraba was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople, Pennsylvania.
He was employed as an airline pilot for U.S. Airways and he retired in 1991.
He was a member of the Soaring Eagles and a member of the Airline Pilot's Association. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Kottraba is survived by his wife, Kathryn E. Kottraba of Renfrew, Pennsylvania; a son, Daniel R. Kottraba and his wife, Sharon of Richmond, Virginia; a grandson, Nate Kottraba and a granddaughter, Emily Kottraba.

Clarence T. Henricks

Clarence T. Henricks, age 89 of Mercer Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born October 4, 1917 in Center Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Ekmond T. Henricks and the late Loretta Heist.
Mr. Henricks was a self-employed farmer. He previously worked in sales for Pfizer and NaChurs plant food company selling corn seed and liquid fertilizer. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Homebuilders Sunday School Class. Mr. Henricks formerly served on the church's council and was a former County Committeeman for Butler County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service.
Mr. Henricks is survived by two sons, Robert T. Henricks of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania; and Ronald P. Henricks of Butler, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Mary) Smith of Homer City, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Voland.
Mr. Henricks was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy M. (Thiele) Henricks who passed away on July 7, 2006 and by a brother.
