John A. Sisson, age 51 of Terwilliger Road, Parker, Pennsylvania, formerly of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania died Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 7:30 a.m. in the Clarion Hospital.
Born September 20, 1954 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Kathleen Gasparovic.
Mr. Sisson was a school bus driver for Chartiers Taxi. Following retirement from Chartiers Taxi, he stayed at home to care for his mother. Following her death he began to write short stories and poems. He enjoyed watching wrestling and football. He enjoyed playing with his two dogs Kristin and Kira and his kitten Sassy.
Mr. Sisson is survived by his wife, Drusilla L. Sisson and whom he marriage on September 6, 2005, by son and his wife, Shawn A. and Jamie Sisson of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Tara J. Sisson, and Tyler J. Sisson; one step-daughter, three step-grandchildren, and one Aunt.
Mr. Sisson was preceded in death by his mother, grandmother and uncle.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday July 20, 2006 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Robert B. Calhoon of Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens.
Dorothy Marie Boycan Swint
September 25, 1920 - July 16, 2006
Dorothy Marie Boycan Swint, age 85 of Harristown Road, Paradise, Pennsylvania, Butler died Sunday, July 16, 2006 at 8:15 p.m. at her son's residence.
Born September 25, 1920 in Euclid, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Noah Beachem and the late Mary Ann Campbell.
Mrs. Swint was a nurse's aide for 18 years the several years as a practical nurse for Butler Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1973. Mrs. Swint was a member of First Baptist Church, Butler.
Mrs. Swint is survived by two sons and their wives, G. Gary and Pat Boycan of Montclair, Virginia, Brian K. and Kathy Boycan of Paradise, Pennsylvania; one daughter and her husband, Linda S. (Boycan) and Gary Machen of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Swint was preceded in death by her first husband, George Boycan who passed away on September 27, 1979 and by her second husband Richard Swint who passed away on May 9, 2005. She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Maitland of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
Lee Roy Miller
April 11, 1910 - July 16, 2006
Lee Roy Miller, age 96, of Greenhill Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, July 16, 2006 at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born April 11, 1910, on his family's farm in Worth Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Brice S. Miller and the late Cora Gerlach.
Mr. Miller was an associate salesman for Hays and Hartzell Reality for 20 years. He was a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church where he was Elder Emeritus and Trustee and also held many other offices.
Mr. Miller was a graduate from Slippery Rock High School and Slippery Rock State Teachers College. He taught school at Princeton, Lawrence County, and Karns City school districts.
Mr. Miller was active in 4-H, particularly in the potato and dairy clubs. He received the Century 4-H Award as the oldest living 4-H male in Butler County through the Extension Office Vocational Agriculture at Slippery Rock High School. He won first place in dairy judging at Penn State, which gave him a free trip to the National Dairy Show in Memphis, Tennessee. He received an honorary degree from Future Farmers of America at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
He was the first secretary-treasurer of Butler County National Farm Loan Association, now Farm Credit, and became general manager of seven counties for 40 years. He was secretary-treasurer of Butler County Potato Growers Association for 10 years. He was association director of Butler County Soil Conservation District. He was a charter member of Butler County Jr. Chamber of Commerce and chaired the Agriculture Committee.
Mr. Miller is the last of the founders of the Butler Farm Show. Mr. Miller received the 3rd Bullshippers Award. He was a member of Farm-City Club of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was original director of Butler County Foundation Endowment Fund. He was a member of YMCA Mora Club and Vice President Emeritus. He was treasurer of Future Farmers Development Foundation for 40 years. He was Treasurer of Future Farmers Scholarship Fund. He was an 82 year member of PA State Grange and National Grange and member of the Worth and Unionville Granges.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Gloria M. Miller, whom he marriage on April 2, 1955; a daughter, Mrs. John C. (Nancy) Daum of Butler, Pennsylvania; two sons, William Miller and his wife, Cyndi, of Butler, Pennsylvania, Chuck Miller and his wife, Denise, of Butler, Pennsylvania; and eight Grandchildren, Erica Baughman, Corey, Kate, Austin, Danielle, Deanna, Dana and Devanne Miller.
Four sisters, one brother and his first wife, Valgene Megan, preceded Mr. Miller in death.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 from 7 to 9 and Wednesday, July 19, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9.
Services will be held at the Hill United Presbyterian Church on Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Clark Sawyer of Hill United Presbyterian Church officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of All Faiths of Butler County Memorial Park.

Jean Davis
March 26, 1925 - July 14, 2006
Jean Davis, age 81 of Seventh Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, July 14, 2006 at 10:07 p.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born March 26, 1925 in Scottsdale, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Gratta Edwards and the late Ruth Amanda Ferguson.
Ms. Davis retired as a sales clerk for K-mart and had worked at the Ward Baking Co. She was a member of Community Alliance Church and was active in her church where she taught Sunday School and Children's Church for many years.
Ms. Davis is survived by two sons, Thomas R. Davis and James C. Davis both of Butler, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one niece.
Ms. Davis was preceded in death by her sister.

Nell Marie Anders Pegge

Nell Marie Anders Pegge, age 94 of Sunnyview Nursing Home, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, July 14, 2006 at 7:32 p.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born May 2, 1912 in Badenville, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Charles William Kestner and the late Mary Ellen Watkins Kestner.
Ms. Pegge was a telephone operator for the Butler Memorial Hospital, following that she worked in the billing department for T.W. Phillips Gas & Oil Co. retiring in 1955. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family and traveling.
Ms. Pegge is survived by one daughter, Chelly Kelly of Butler, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one niece and three Nephews.
Ms. Pegge was preceded in death by her two husbands Dales S. Wonderly and John Anders, by one grandson, three brothers, two sisters, and her son-in-law.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. William Gummper of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Catherine R. Zickler
August 17, 1920 - August 30, 2003
Catherine R. Zickler, 83, formerly of East Jefferson Street, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 17, 1920, in Butler, she was the daughter of Alfred and Irene Marx Gallagher.
She was a mail clerk for the U.S. Postal Service in Butler before she retired.
Mrs. Zickler was Catholic. She was a member of the National Retired Federal Employees and the AARP.
Surviving are three daughters, Viki Sherman of Butler, Suzanne Byers of Naperville, Ill., and Carolyn Nock of Mass.
Her first husband, Victor C. Paradis, died in 1967. Her second husband, John E. Zickler Jr., died Dec. 14, 1999.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers.
There is no public visitation. A private memorial service was held at the convenience of the family. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery in Butler.
Arrangements are being handled by the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME of Butler.
