Doris Mae Kengor, age 88, of Newhaven Court, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of New Kensington, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, November 9, 2006 at 9:05 p.m. at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born November 27, 1917 in Davisville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Luther and Lizzy Sovil Flynn.
Mrs. Kengor was a homemaker. She was a member of the Senior Center in New Kensington. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in New Kensington, Pennsylvania.
She is survived by a son, Paul D. Kengor of Butler, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Doris Elaine Strong of Sahuarita, Arizona and Mrs. Don (Carol) Leas of Payson, Arizona; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews.
Her husband Paul Kengor, who died June 20, 1978, whom she marriage on August 25, 1937, preceded Mrs. Kengor in death. Three sisters and two brothers also preceded her in death.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, November 12, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with Father James Salberg, of St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, New Kensington, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the Butler Area Public Library, 218 North McKean Street, Butler, Pennsylvania or to The American Heart Association, 10 Duff Road, Suite 304, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15235.
Marlene Arlett Pavlovich

Marlene Arlett Pavlovich, age 85, of Dennis Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 in the Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Springs, Maryland.
Born October 8, 1921 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of John and Anna Bartko Chupka.
Mrs. Pavlovich was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of God in Silver Springs, Maryland.
Mrs. Pavlovich is survived by her husband, Anthony Pavlovich; a son, Reverend Gary Pavlovich of Silver Springs, Maryland; four grandchildren; a brother, Mike Chupka of Ambridge, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Four sisters and five brothers preceded Mrs. Pavlovich in death.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, November 12, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with her son, Reverend Gary Pavlovich of the Church of God in Silver Springs, Maryland, officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Butler County Memorial Park.
Grace Erla Groom
May 3, 1923 - November 7, 2006
Grace Erla Groom, age 83 of Center Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, currently a resident of Slippery Rock Personal Care Home, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 9:05 a.m. in the Slippery Rock Personal Care Home.
Born May 3, 1923 in Erico, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late George E. Heslop and the late Ruth E. Van Dyke Heslop.
Mrs. Groom was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Butler which is now Family Life Ministries. She retired from Gaylord's Department Store after twenty-three years of service as the manager of the Hardware Department. Mrs. Groom was the State Secretary and served as a minister for The Church of God of Prophecy from 1948 and served as minister in several churches. She served as clerk and treasurer of the church for many years. Mrs. Groom also worked at the Butler County Traveling Library for several years.
Mrs. Groom is survived by a brother, Virgil E. Heslop of Girard, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Herschel (Margaret) Blose of Harrisville, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Thomas (Evelyn) Aites of Brockton, Massachusetts and by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Groom was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Groom who passed away in November of 1979 and also by two brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, November 9, 2006 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Don Pflugh of Family Life Ministries officiating. Interment will follow in Brownsdale Cemetery.
Elizabeth Thomas

Elizabeth Thomas, age 91 of Newhaven Court, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Main Street, Lyndora, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 4:40 a.m. in the New Haven Court.
Born May 12, 1915 in Venango Township, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late John Jerry and the late Bertha Kish.
Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and a graduated of Butler High School class of 1933.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by two sons and their wives, Steve (Gus) and Lois Thomas of Florence, Kentucky, Robert J. and Patricia Thomas of San Dimas, California; one daughter and her husband, Cynthia T. and L. L. Johnson of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; by a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a number of special nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Steve J. Thomas who passed away on April 10, 1976 and by two sisters and three brothers.
Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Interment was in Butler County Memorial Park.

Betty L. Patten, age 85 of Sunnyview Home, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Friday, November 3, 2006 at 9:45 p.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born January 19, 1921 in Butler, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late William Collins and the late Jean Gartley.
Mrs. Patten was a homemaker. She was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of AARP, the Ladies Golf League at Armco and the Esquire Club.
Mrs. Patten is survived by her husband, George A. Patten whom she marriage on June 4, 1942, by one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Sharon) Montag of Butler, Pennsylvania; one son and his wife, George A. "Bud" and Linda Patten, II of North Canton, Ohio; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Paul (Donna) Kradel of Butler, Pennsylvania and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Patten was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Pearl M. Burns
May 12, 1917 - November 2, 2006
Pearl M. Burns, age 89, of Third Street, formerly of Stevenson Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 2:20 p.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born May 12, 1917 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Frank and Salina Mazie Reese Underwood.
She was a founding member, past president and former board member of the Butler County Association for Retarded Citizens. She helped develop the education system for Butler County students with special needs. This later became Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, from which she retired in 1979.
She had been a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church since 1951. She was a past Sunday school teacher and president of Women's Circle. She attended Slippery Rock University and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Burns is survived by two sons, Richard P. Burns, Jr. of Butler, Pennsylvania and Ted (James) Burns of Amissville, Virginia; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Linda) McCune and Carol S. Rose both of Butler, Pennsylvania; one brother, Frank Underwood, Jr. of Lombard, Illinois; 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. Burns, Sr., who was deceased March 24, 1990, her daughter, Beryl Klingensmith, her sister, E. Louise Wolf and her brother, T. Harvey Underwood.

Funeral Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, November 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend William E. King, of Trinity Presbyterian Church, officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel of All Faiths Mausoleum in Greenlawn Burial Estates.
