William H. Weinig, age 87, of Beech Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 1:15 a.m. in the Chicora Medical Center.
Born January 4, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary Spelich Weinig.
Mr. Weinig retired as a mechanic for the New York City Transit Authority. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Weinig is survived by his wife, Nicoletta Petron; a step-daughter, Catherine Diaz of Butler, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Catherine Alwaise of Ceaford, New York, Mary Maslovski of Westfield, New Jersey, and Mrs. Jack (Esther) Girastella of Bogata, New Jersey; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; and by a brother, Eugene Weinig of Westfield, New Jersey.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, December 10, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Father Raymond Trance of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery.
Isabell M. Fair
January 5, 1929 - December 8, 2006
Isabell M. Fair, age 77, of Butler, died on Friday, December 8, 2006 at 7:10 a.m. at Sunnyview Home. She was formerly of Shelbourne Assisted Living and of Schramm Lane.
Born January 5, 1929 in East Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William F. and Edna Eyth Sleigher Kabel.
Mrs. Fair was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, refunding and crochet.
Mrs. Fair is survived by two sons, Edward P. Fair and his wife, Karen of Butler, Pennsylvania, and David L. Fair and his wife, Shirley of Imperial, Pennsylvania; three granddaughters, Julia, Megan and Tracy; a half-brother, Joseph Sleigher of Hampton, Virginia and by many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Fair was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth P. Fair and who was deceased April 4, 1986, a brother, a sister and three half-brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday, December 10, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
A blessing service will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, December 11, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Harry R. Bielewicz of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.

Donald L. Cuffman, Jr.
October 13, 1953 - December 7, 2006
Donald L. Cuffman, Jr., age 53, of Deer Creek Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 2:10 p.m. with his family by his side in the West Penn Hospital after a year long battle with leukemia.
Born October 13, 1953 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Donald L. and Norma Allen Cuffman.
Mr. Cuffman was a dedicated employee at Ervin Industries for thirty years as a melting supervisor. He was an avid hunter, a sport enthusiast and loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Cuffman, Jr. is survived by his wife, Joanne Hart Cuffman; his mother, Norma Allen Cuffman of Butler, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Jennifer Dunaway and her husband, Mark of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; two sons, Matthew Cuffman and his wife, Kelli of Butler, Pennsylvania and Jacob Cuffman of Butler, Pennsylvania and Bradenton, Florida; two granddaughters, Kate and Marin Dunaway; a brother, Daniel Cuffman and his wife, Lollie of Butler, Pennsylvania; a sister, Pamela Cuffman Schmidt of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cuffman, Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Donald L. Cuffman, Sr.

Carl M. Protzman
February 18, 1932 - December 5, 2006
Carl M. Protzman, age 74 of Rural Drive, Butler, Pennsylvania, formerly of Karnes Road, Butler died Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 10:23 p.m. in the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born February 18, 1932 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Carl Adam Protzman and the late Venus Elizabeth Brown Protzman.
Mr. Protzman was a millwright/electrician in the maintenance department for Butler Armco retiring in 1988. He was a life long member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Good News Bible Class, served as an usher and a former member of the Church Council. Mr. Protzman was a graduate of Butler High School class of 1951. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1951-1954 in Korea. He fought from Seoul to the 38th Parallel and then served as a body escort east of the Mississippi. Mr. Protzman was past commandant and active member of the Bantam Marine Corps League, Detachment #743, the Military Order of Devil Dogs #213 and involved with Toys for Tots. He was honored to serve as Color Guard Commander and Rifle Squad Commander for ceremonial activities in the Marine Corps League and was honored as Marine of the Year in 1996. Mr. Protzman was also a member of the Legion of Honor for the Chaplain of Four Chaplains. He was a member of the American Legion Post #117, Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club, Happy Hunters Sportsman Club, and the Butler Trap League. Mr. Protzman loved hunting, fishing, reading, woodworking, shooting trap and being with his family.
Mr. Protzman is survived by his wife of 49 years, Emma G. Swigart Protzman whom he marriage on June 14, 1957, two daughters, Sandra Protzman-Cook and her husband Kenneth Cook and Mrs. William (Yvonne) Wallace, one son, Matthew C. Protzman, two granddaughters, Jalaine Diane Wallace and Sarah Elizabeth Protzman Cook, one brother and his wife, Laverne and Shirley Protzman, sister-in-law, Mrs. Eugene (Lee) Protzman, brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Marg Swigart, sister-in-law Mrs. Robert (Sally) Swigart, brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Sandy Hilderbrand, brother-in-law, Donald Swigart. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Protzman was preceded in death by one brother Eugene R. Protzman.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Thursday, December 7, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, December 8, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Bantam Marine Detatchment #743 will conduct a military service on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be held at the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in Gruenwald Cemetery.
Ida K. Stirland Ammon
November 3, 1926 - December 4, 2006
Ida K. Stirland Ammon, age 80 of formerly of Brown Avenue, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, December 4, 2006 at 2:00 a.m. in the Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony.
Born November 3, 1926 in New Kensington, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late Ernest Stirland and the late Annie Wheatcroft.
Mrs. Ammon was employed as a seamstress for twelve years for Duquesne Manufacturing Co. in New Kensington, retiring in 1950. She was a member of Church of God in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania and a member of North Main Street Church of God when she moved to Butler.
Mrs. Ammon is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Virginia) Ammon of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Cathy D. Johnston of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Ronald Stirland of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Ammon was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Ammon who passed away on May 26, 2001 and also by three brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 6, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kenneth C. Hall of North Main Street Church of God officiating. Entombmentment will follow in Chapel of Devotion, Butler County Memorial Park.
Avanell J. Stahlman
March 12, 1917 - December 3, 2006
Avanell J. Stahlman, age 89, of Collingwood Lane, Emlenton, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at 8:30 p.m. at her residence.
Born March 12, 1917 in New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Adam and Sarah Kelly Schafer.
She had been a practical nurse at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Oakland.
She was a member of Whitehall Church of God in Emlenton.
Mrs. Stahlman is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Lennis (Sueann) Babcock of Orange Park, Florida; three granddaughters, one grandson, six great grandsons, all in Florida; and by her sister, Mrs. Donna Smith of Butler, Pennsylvania and a number of nieces and nephews.
Four brothers and eight sisters preceded Mrs. Stahlman in death.
