Iva Jean Klaus, 81 of Butler, formerly of Amy Avenue, died Friday, July 23, 2004 in Sunrise of Cranberry.
Mrs. Klaus was born May 4, 1923 in Clay Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church for over fifty years. Mrs. Klaus was a charter member of the Order of the Amaranth- Court #145 Butler, Pennsylvania and of the White Shrine of Jerusalem #32. She was a member of the Sarah Circle at Hill United Presbyterian Church and of the willing workers at her church.
Surviving are, two nephews, four nieces, one great niece, one great nephew, and a number of cousins. Preceding her in death was her husband, William H. Klaus deceased September 24, 1979.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Sunday July 25, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Monday July 26, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Clark Sawyer, her church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Katharine Knepp Liddle
January 7, 1914- July 23, 2004
Katharine Knepp Liddle, 90 of Butler, formerly of the Arbors Apartments on Lincoln Avenue, died Friday morning, July 23, 2004 in Sunnyview Home.
Born January 7, 1914 in Curwensville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Ira James Knepp and Rilla Johnston Knepp.
Mrs. Liddle was a member of Calvary Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her son, Reverend James (Jim) M. Liddle of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, her daughter, Mrs. Charles (Lynn) Strobel of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, a sister, Twila (Toddy) Mathieson of Florida, a brother, Bo Knepp of Georgia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Leonard J. Liddle, who was deceased on August 24, 1970, and nine brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, on Monday July 26, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday July 27, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with her son, Reverend James M. Liddle of Mt. Troy United Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Crest Cemetery in Clearfield, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Liddle's family suggests memorial donations be made to United Cerebral Palsy of Pittsburgh, 4638 Centre Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
LaVone H. Payne
November 26, 1916 - July 23, 2004
LaVone H. Payne, 87 of Butler, formerly of Slippery Rock, died Friday, July 23, 2004 at 9:45 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born November 26, 1916 in West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Jay M. Hilliard and Helen Scott.
Mrs. Payne was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School and Slippery Rock State Teacher's College. She then earned a master's degree in education at the University of Pittsburgh. She was schoolteacher for Mars, Mount Lebanon and Butler Area Schools.
Mrs. Payne was a former member of the Jr. Women's Club and Intermediate League. She was a member of the St. Jude Golf Club for many years and she was a member of the local Butler County Branch of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and National Education Association and the Association of Adult Retired Persons.
Surviving are her niece, Mrs. LaVone Elverson and her nephew, Mr. Jeffrey Croll both of Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, and three great nephews and their families. Preceding her in death were her husband Robert B. Payne who was deceased July 28, 1998 and one sister, Vevia Croll Flack.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, Sunday July 25, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., following visitation Sunday July 25, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend James Campbell, her church pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum of Butler County Memorial Park.

Maurice Silverman
September 15, 1910 - July 20, 2004
Maurice Silverman, 93, of Rockville, Maryland, formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 in Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, Maryland.
Born September 15, 1910 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Harry Silverman and Ester Bolner.
Mr. Silverman was an attorney for the U.S. Agriculture, U. S. Justice Department.
Mr. Silverman is survived by one sister, Natalie Rath of Fullerton, California, one niece and five nephews, one sister-in-law, eight great-nephews and four great-nieces, four great-great-nephews and four great-great-nieces.
Mr. Silverman is preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, July 25, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at B'Nai Abraham Cemetery.

Pearl McAnallen Nuth

Pearl McAnallen Nuth, 91 formerly of Cliff Streer, Butler, died Monday, July 19, 2004 at 7:20 p.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born April 4, 1913 in Concord Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of V. I. McAnallen and Bertha Euphema Wick.
She was a homemaker and she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Nuth is survived by one son, Mr. William E. Nuth III of Butler, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren, her sister, Mrs. Viola Markwell and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband William E. Nuth, Jr., deceased August 9, 1985, and two sisters.
There will be no public visitation and funeral services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday July 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Timothy Bupp, her church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Daniel A. Stebick

Daniel A. Stebick, infant son of David R. Stebick and Cheryl A. Vernick, of Chester, Maryland died Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.
His parents attended Assembly of God, Kent Island Worship Center Church in Stevensville, Maryland.
In addition to his parents Daniel is survived by a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Pat Vernick of Butler, Pennsylvania, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Denny (Karen) Stebick of Elderton, Pennsylvania, paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Stella Sell of Cabot, Pennsylvania, and by a number of uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Robert Lamond officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
Arrangements are being handled by Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania.
Joseph H. Fisher
August 7, 1918 - July 14, 2004
Joseph H. Fisher, 85 of Newark, Delaware formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at his residence in Churchman Village.
Born August 7, 1918 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Joseph Fisher and Marjorie Emerick Fisher Monroe.
Mr. Fisher was 1937 graduate of Butler High School in 1937 and a former local YMCA physical education instructor. Following graduation, he worked in Butler for several years as a master auto mechanic prior to enlisting in the U. S. Army. He served for three years with the 1885th Engineering Aviation Battalion and was recommended for officer's candidacy. Shortly after his honorable discharge from military service, Mr. Fisher accepted a position with the Chrysler Corporation, where he would enjoy a long and successful career. He worked as an engineer in a variety of capacities for the company and earned many honors and distinctions including a Quality Engineering Certificate with a score of 98%. During his employment with Chrysler, he also continued his engineering education at the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Fisher retired from Chrysler as a Product Quality Engineer in 1975 after 30 years of service.
A 56-year member of the Masonic order, Mr. Fisher was member of the Masonic Blue Lodge #272, Butler, Pennsylvania, the Valley of Erie Consistory, Erie, Pennsylvania and Syria Shrine Temple, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also attended Masonic meetings in Newark, Delaware. In his leisure time, Mr. Fisher enjoyed golfing, camping, and fishing, especially on the lake in Belgrade, Maryland.
His beloved wife of 56 years, Lucetta M. Swigart Fisher, died in 2001.
Mr. Fisher is survived by two daughters, Deborah L. Burgun, Diane L. Beauchamp, one son, Jeffrey H. Fisher, five grandchildren, Nathan J. Burgun, Daniel J. Burgun, Jennifer C. Burgun, Emily J. Burgun, and Nicole S. Fisher, all of Newark, Delaware, by one brother-in-law, Dale Swigart of Butler, Pennsylvania, and one sister-in-law, Joanne Swigart of Gallup, New Mexico.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Sunday, July 18, 2004 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Sunday, July 18, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Steven McGuigan, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Summit Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
