Mary Ann Baird, 88 of Alameda Road, Butler, died Thursday, October 23, 2003 in at her residence.
Born October 31, 1914 in Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Albert Burton Hilliard and Phoebe Estella Smith.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Baird was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church. She attended Butler High School, class of 1933. She was a charter member of the Alpha Society; a charter member of the Intermediate Woman's Club, a member of the G.F.W.C. Woman's club of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Baird served on the board of the March of Dimes and was chairman of the "Mothers March" for a number of years. Her hobbies were walking, baking, reading and playing bridge.
Surviving her are three sons, David DuWayne Baird of Tucker, Georgia, Larry L. Baird of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Douglas Lloyd Baird of St. Charles, Missouri, Thirteen Grandchildren, Five Great Grandchildren, Two Step-Grandchildren, Four Step-Great Grandchildren.
Mrs. Baird marriage DuWayne L. Baird on May 28, 1937 he preceded her in death on August 24, 1984. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers including her sister, Catherine Elizabeth Lind whose death was April 24, 2002.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, from 2 to 4 and 7 and 9 P.M. Sunday, October 26, 2003.
Services will be held at the Hill United Presbyterian Church, Monday, October 27, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Eau Claire Cemetery.
R. Paul McKinney
February 11, 1937 - October 22, 2003
R. Paul McKinney, age 66 of East 319th Street, Willowick, Ohio passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 9:52 a.m. in The Lake County West Hospital, Willoughby, Ohio.
Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on February 11, 1937, he was the son of the late James Harold McKinney and Evelyn Timmons.
Mr. McKinney was a 1955 graduate of Butler High school. He retired in 1992 from REMA -Railroad Employee Mutual Association, where he was a data processing manager for 37 years. He was a member of Boulevard Presbyterian Church in Euclid, Ohio.
Mr. McKinney is survived by his wife, Jane McBride whom he marriage on June 1, 1957, two sons: Richard P. McKinney, Jr. of Willowick, Ohio and Brian P. McKinney of Mentor, Ohio, five Granddaughters, two brothers: Wade McKinney of Deale, Maryland and Glenn McKinney of Mentor, Ohio one sister: Mrs. Robert (Jeannie) Wynn of Butler, Pennsylvania and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family of R. Paul McKinney will be received on Friday, October 24, 2003 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME INC., 124 EAST NORTH STREET, BUTLER, PENNSYLVANIA 16001. Funeral services will be from the funeral home on Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with The Reverend Stephen Cahoon of Meridian United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow in The Butler County Memorial Park.
Evelyn K. McGary
March 20, 1925 - October 21, 2003
Evelyn K. McGary, age 78 of Sunnyview Nursing Home formerly of Creek Meadows Personal Care Home, Zelienople, Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at 5:45 P.M. in Sunnyview Nursing Home.
Born in Arnold, Pennsylvania on March 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Laurie Kemerer and Tressa Hartman.
Mrs. McGary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Butler. She had served as the church secretary and also had been the church secretary at North Street Christian Church. She also had served as the director of the Y-teen group at the Butler YWCA. She also served as a volunteer at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by one Son: George E. (Butch) McGary III and his wife Sue of Prospect, Pennsylvania, Three Grandchildren: George E. (B.J.) McGary IV and his wife Melanie of Prospect, Christopher McGary of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and Allison McGary of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Two Great-Granddaughters: Morgan & Madison McGary of Prospect, Pennsylvania and also surviving are several cousins.

Persis Johnson Grupen
August 22, 2003 - October 15, 2003
Persis Johnson Grupen, 89 of formerly of Zelienople, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 in Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony.
Born August 22, 1914 in Hancock, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Fred Johnson and Mary Miller.
She worked as a Secretary for Rumford Printing Company. She was Presbyterian by faith. Mrs. Grupen was a veteran of WW II serving as a 1st Sergeant to Women's Army Auxiliary she retired in 1945-1946 as a Master Sergeant.
Surviving are one sister, Jean McDonald of Concord, New Hampshire, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband William G. Grupen, four brothers, one sister, and two nephews.
There will be no public visitation or services.
Interment will be in North Side Cemetery. Arrangements by Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc.

Bartholomew W. Legas
August 5, 1916 - October 15, 2003
Bartholomew W. Legas, 87 of Stickle Road, Portersville, died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 in at his residence.
Born August 5, 1916 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Blaze Ligas and Sophia Hink Ligas.
Mr. Legas worked as a driver and delivery man for Signal Transfer Co. He was a member of St. Christopher at the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Prospect, Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW II.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gene (Donna) Creech of Portersville, Pennsylvania, Two Grand-daughters, Five Great-Grandchildren, One Great-Great-Grandchild, two Brothers, Michael Legas, Henry Legas two Sisters, Mrs. Ann Misko, Mrs. Martha Griener of all of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Legas is preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette P. Legas who passed away on June 12, 2001, three sisters and three brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Friday, October 17, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the St. Christopher at the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Matthew Tosello officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Harold C. Sitterley

Harold C. Sitterley, 84 of Lincoln Avenue, Butler, died Friday, October 10, 2003 in UPMC - Shadyside Hospital.
Born January 3, 1919 in Lomoore, Virginia, he was the son of Homer A. Sitterley and Dorothy E. Tauberschmidt.
He was a Retail Manager for the former Gaylords Department Store in Butler and was co-owner/operator with his wife of a retail business selling honey products. He was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth M. Gray Sitterley whom he marriage on January 6, 1948, one son, Harold C. Sitterley of Hartsville, South Carolina, two daughters, Mrs. Steven (Judy) Bates and Mrs. Don (Deberah) Langager both of San Diego, California, Thirteen Grandchildren, Three Great-Grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Doris Miller of Seneca, Pennsylvania, one brother, Melvin Sitterley of Titusville, Pennsylvania, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were two brothers.

Dorothy E. Jones

Dorothy E. Jones, 91 of North Main Street, Butler, died Friday, October 10, 2003 at 8:05 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born January 10, 1912 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of John Herbert Stevenson and Mary May Klingensmith.
She and her husband worked as a manager and housekeeper for Clearview Farms for 50 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and at one time was on the Altar Committee. Mrs. Jones delivered Meals-on-wheels for 13 years, she was a member of Tanglewood Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Brewster of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, Mrs. George (Shirley) Matuke and Marilynn Bodesheim both of Butler, Pennsylvania, Eight Grandchildren, Fourteen Great-Grandchildren, Two Great-Great-Grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jones marriage Edward S. Jones September 14, 1932 he preceded her in death on July 22, 1983. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
