Ray R. Fleischer, 74 of McCandless Road, Butler, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 6:10 p.m. at Sunnyview Home.
Born October 28, 1929 in Zelienople, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Harry N. Fleischer and Gertrude M. Mangel.
Mr. Fleischer worked for Hutchison Cleaners for 40 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Saint Peters Roman Catholic Church, Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Fleischer is survived by his wife Marian Risch Fleischer whom he marriage November 23, 1950, two sons, John R. Fleischer of Houston, Texas, James E. Fleischer of Butler, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fleischer is preceded in death by five brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, on Friday, January 23, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Saint Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Father James Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Mary Ellen Richards
May 1, 1912 - January 21, 2004
Mary Ellen Richards, 91 of Hickory, North Carolina, formerly of Stanley Avenue, the Hull Plan, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 3:15 a.m. at the Lutheran Home at Hickory North Carolina.
Born May 1, 1912 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Robert John Ferguson and Catherine Whiteside.
Mrs. Richards was a homemaker. She was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in America, Butler, Pennsylvania. She enjoyed the outdoors, animals, reading and flower gardening. In 1991 she received recognition for 15, 000 hours of volunteer service as a Red Cross Gray Lady at Deshon Hospital. She also enjoyed bible study and service group activities.
Mrs. Richards is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Abigail) Redman of Morgantown, North Carolina, one son, Robert A. Richards of Orange Park, Florida, five Grandchildren, and eight Great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Richards is preceded in death by her son, Anthony Thomas Richards; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Ritson; and a brother, W. Don Ferguson.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, January 24, 2004 from 10 to 11 a.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
Frances A. Wilson
June 4, 1939 - January 13, 2004
Frances A. Wilson, 64 of Apopka, Florida died Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born June 4, 1939 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of William Russo and Mary Bumbico.
She worked as a Steel Inspector for Armco. She was a Christian She was a veteran of U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Eric (Vicki) Adams of Butler, Pennsylvania, Cynthia J. McCloskey of Apopka, Florida, one son, Kevin McCloskey of Butler, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren, Jerred Fraser, Keira McCloskey, Ashley McCloskey, and Erika McCloskey, two brothers, Bill Russo of Rochester, Pennsylvania, Larry Russo of Butler, Pennsylvania, one Sister, Amelia "Pam" Carothers of Midland, Pennsylvania, and a Number of Nieces and Nephews and Cousins.
Preceding her in death was her one son, William W. McCloskey and one daughter, Sharon McCloskey.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
Vincent R. Surra
November 2, 1929 - January 13, 2004
Vincent R. Surra, age 74 of 111 South Cliff Street, the Terrace Apartments. Passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Born in Italy on November 2, 1929. He was the son of the late Giuseppe Surra and Rose Asturi.
Mr. Surra retired in 1994 from the Allegheny County Clerk of Courts Office. He was a Member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Mr. Surra was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was a Life Member of Joseph T. Black Post # 249 of the V.F.W. in Butler.
Mr. Surra is survived by one son, Vincent Surra of Anaheim, California, one daughter, Tracy Newhart of Lyndora, Pennsylvania, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
There will be no public visitation services will be announced at a later date.

Mary A. "Bertie" Dodds
September 10, 1904 - January 12, 2004
Mary Alberta "Bertie" Fry Dodds age 99, formerly of the Terrace Apartments in Butler passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2004. She had made her home with her daughter and son in-law since 1999.
Born September 10, 1904 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Dora Winkler Fry. From the age of ten she lived with her father and stepmother Anna Kimble Noss Fry.
She began her career at Miller Mickley Printing Co. at the age of eighteen. She was then employed at Craftsman Ziegler Printing Co. (formerly Ziegler Co.) where she became supervisor until retiring in 1970.
She belonged to the Business and Professional Women's Club.
Mrs. Dodds was a member of The Calvary Evangelical Presbyterian Church for over fifty years. She served as a Sunday school teacher at her church.
She was the beloved mother of Mrs. James H. (Marylin) Kim, grandmother of Marcey L. Kim Mr. & Mrs. James J. and Lynnie Kim, sister of Margaret M. (Peg) McIntyre, Several nieces, nephews, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, half-brother and a stepbrother and a stepsister.
Friends will be received at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME INC. 124 EAST NORTH ST. BUTLER, Pennsylvania 16001 on Thursday, January 15, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will follow from the Funeral Home at 8:00 p.m. with the Reverend Allen P. Moran of Calvary Evangelical Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment will be in The Butler County Memorial Park.
Dorothy Alice Walker Stilley
January 9, 1913 - January 12, 2004
Dorothy Alice Walker Stilley, age 91 of Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople, Pennsylvania, formerly of New Haven Court, Butler, Pennsylvania and previous to that Whitestown Village, Butler, Mt. Lebanon and Oakdale passed away Monday, January 12, 2004 at 7:55 p.m. at St. John's Specialty Care Center in Mars, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Stilley was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 9, 1913; she was the daughter of the late Charles Walker and Fannie Roberts Walker.
Mrs. Stilley was a graduate of Dormont High School and a business school located in Pittsburgh. She was employed as an accountant in the trust department of Union National Bank in Pittsburgh for Sixteen Years, retiring in 1976.
Mrs. Stilley was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Butler and was a member of various women's groups and circles at the church.
Mrs. Stilley marriage James F. Stilley on August 19, 1935 he preceded her in death on August 1, 1974.
Mrs. Stilley is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Karen Joy of Butler, Pennsylvania, one son, James Stilley of Tucson, Arizona, three grandsons and two nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends will be received at The Thompson- Miller Funeral Home Inc. on Thursday, January 15, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, January 16, 2004 at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Funeral service will be from The Trinity Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 16, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Dennis Molnar of Trinity Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in the Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald, Pennsylvania.
