Wilbur P. Heist, Sr., 94 of North Duffy Road, Butler, died Friday, October 8, 2004 at 2:45 a.m. at his residence.
Born July 10, 1910 in Butler, Pennsylvania, he was the son of John G. Heist and Dilse Stevenson.
He worked as a greenhouse grower for Crighton's Greenhouse at the age of 86 years old and Eislers Nurseries for 17 years. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Penn State College of Agriculture. He farmed in the 1940's and 1950's. Having numerous careers he worked for Bortmas Greenhouse until they closed. He also worked for Butler Co-op in poultry management and as a security guard for Pullman-Standard. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and growing plants, especially flowers.
Mr. Heist is survived by one son, Phillip W. Heist, Jr. of Butler, Pennsylvania, one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Sage of California, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Ethel Heist of Chicora Medical Center, and by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Heist is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Brown Heist who passed away in 1990, and by one brother.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Monday, October 11, 2004 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Monday, October 11, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. with the Reverend Richard Leseganich of St. Mark's Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in South Cemetery.
Ruth K. Rosenberg
December 15, 1910 - October 7, 2004
Ruth K. Rosenberg, 93 of formerly of Fourth Avenue, died Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 7:15 p.m. in Chicora Medical Center.
Born December 15, 1910 in Vashilock, Lithuania, she was the daughter of David Kopelman and Ida Dalinsky.
Mrs. Rosenberg was a member of Congregation B'Nai Abraham. She was active in her synagogue and a life member of Hadassah and the Sisterhood. She had been treasurer of Hadassah for over 50 years and was the former treasure of Congregation B'Nai Abraham. She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for Lowal's Women's Clothing Store.
Mrs. Rosenberg is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Idelle) Brown of Butler, Pennsylvania, two sons, Alan J. Rosenberg of Butler, Pennsylvania, David O. Rosenberg and his wife Peggy of Wexford, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren, Jason Brown and his wife Kelly, Erin Brown, Derek Rosenberg, and Joey Rosenberg.
Mrs. Rosenberg is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Rosenberg, whom she marriage on May 19, 1946 and who passed away on August 1, 1983, and by a sister and two brothers.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Sunday, October 10, 2004 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Sunday, October 10, 2004 at 12 noon with Cantor Adriane Caplowe officiating. Interment will follow in B'Nai Abraham Cemetery.

Jane Dumbaugh Dean

Jane Dumbaugh Dean, 85 of Iroquois Drive, Butler, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born October 12, 1918 in Butler, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Arthur O. Dumbaugh and Ella Stewart.
Mrs. Dean was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and was active with her church including the Ruth circle and Hearts and Hands group. She was a member of the GFWC-General Federation of Women's Club. She was formerly active with North Main Street Church of God and Christ Outreach Church.
Mrs. Dean is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Judith Ann) Cash of Memphis, Tennessee, Mrs. James (Mary Ellen) Brandt of Miami, Florida, one son, J. Richard Dean of Butler, Pennsylvania, four grand-children, one great-grandson, and two step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dean was preceded in death by her husband Chaplain (Major) James Hugh Dean, who passed away on March 23, 1991.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Thursday, October 7, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., Friday, October 8, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Dennis Molnar and Revered Dr. David West officiating. Interment will follow in North Side Cemetery.

Marjorie H. Miller
October 16, 1914 - August 14, 2003
Marjorie Helen Miller, 88, of Bradyview Manor, East Brady, died Thursday at Bradyview.
Born in Tamaqua, Schuykill County, Oct. 16, 1914, she was the daughter of Arthur B. and Jennie S. Fleming.
She retired in 1972 as a home economics teacher for the Moniteau School District and enjoyed traveling and visiting family and friends.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey E. Miller of East Brady and Jon C. Miller of Harrisville; a daughter, Mrs. James (Judith L.) Weigle of Butler; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother, Charles Fleming of Binghamton, N.Y., and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Her husband, Charles L. "Chuck" Miller, died March 9, 2003. A brother and a sister also preceded him in death.
MILLER - Friends of Marjorie Helen Miller, who died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St. Services will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Molnar, her church pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.

Josephine M. Mohan, 84 of West Muntz Avenue, Butler, died Monday, October 4, 2004 at 1:05 a.m. in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born November 21, 1919 in Meridian, Butler County, she was the daughter of the late Vera Sarver Kirk.
Mrs. Mohan was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She formerly worked at Grants in Butler in the hosiery department. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Mohan is survived by one son, James P. Mohan of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Daughter-in-law, Rachel Mohan, one daughter, Patti Sickle of Butler, Pennsylvania, son-in-law, Dan Sickle four grand-daughters, Elizabeth Miller, Shannon Martinez, Trisha Sickle, Danielle Sickle, one great-grand-daughter Micah Miller, one great-great-grand-daughter, Kassidy Miller, two sisters, Elsie Kirk, of Butler, Pennsylvania, Agnes Sarver of Prospect, Pennsylvania, and by one brother, Harry Kirk of Renfrew, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Mohan was preceded in death by her husband Clarence J. "Duke" Mohan, who passed away on April 23, 1999 and by her sister, Marie Ion and brother Ralph Kirk.
Friends will be received at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA, on Wednesday, October 5, 2004 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, October 7, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Friday, October 8, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend J. David Panther officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

David R. Emery, Sr., 69 of West Patterson Avenue, Butler, died Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Cape Fear Valley Health System in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Born August 15, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Jack Emery and Irene Wynkoop.
Mr. Emery worked a retired painter for Pullman Standard. He was a member of Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and the Korean conflict.
Mr. Emery is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mark (Susan) Schuler of Butler, Pennsylvania, two sons, Mr. David Emery, Jr. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Michael Emery of Butler, Pennsylvania, nine grandchildren, one brother, Harry C. Emery of New Galilee, Pennsylvania, two sisters, Mrs. Jean Brown of Butler, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Dot Porter of Greenville, Pennsylvania, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Emery was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Centorcelli Emery, who passed away on December 29, 1999 and by two sisters.

Services will be held at the Butler Wesleyan Methodist Church, Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend James A. Lynn Officiating. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
