Robert T. Saxman, age 97 of Amber Woods, Freeport Road, Cheswick, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 10:35 p.m. in the Alle-Kiski Medical Center.
Born November 4, 1910 in Sagamore, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Charles A. Saxman and the late Bertha Crawford.
Mr. Saxman was a machinist for Schenley Distilleries, retiring in 1970 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. Mr. Saxman was a graduate of Rural Valley High School. He was a 33rd degree Mason and past master of the Leechburg Area Lodge #577 Free and Accepted Masons. Mr. Saxman was also a Past Grand Master of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite - Valley of New Castle.
Mr. Saxman is survived by one son and his wife, Robert Dean and Marge Saxman of York, Pennsylvania; three daughters and their husbands, Sheila and Bill Weckerly of Bettendorf, Iowa, Denise and Chuck Barger of Butler, Pennsylvania, Dorinda Sue and Ron Miller of Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania; twelve grandchildren: Robert, James, Bill, Eric, Erin, Brian, Mike, Kevin, Keli, Jennifer, Allen, and Steven, seventeen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Olive Wilson of Kittanning, Pennsylvania, and Jean Bates of Butler, Pennsylvania and also by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Saxman was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Elizabeth "Hawk" Saxman and by two brothers, Blair and Russell.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 12:00 noon with Reverend William Saxman, retired Methodist minister officiating. Interment will follow in Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Cemetery.

Jay R. "Snuffy" Broman
February 24, 1952 - April 15, 2008
Jay Rodney "Snuffy" Broman, age 56, of Bullcreek Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. in a motorcycle accident on I-95 near Florence, South Carolina.
Born February 24, 1952 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania he was the son of William F. Broman, Sr. and Marlene Grimes Broman.
Mr. Broman was the owner of Jay's Auto Sales and Sue's Repair in Butler. He was Baptist by faith. Mr. Broman was a member of the Side Car Club and former treasurer of Abate. He also liked riding his motorcycle, singing karaoke, camping and traveling.
Mr. Broman is survived by his wife, Susan J. Brown (Boyer) Broman whom he marriage on October 29, 1998. He is also survived by his parents, William and Marlene Broman of Butler, Pennsylvania; his father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Faye Brown of Valencia, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Nicole Adamski and her husband Brian of Butler, Pennsylvania, Brandy Broman of Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland; two grandchildren, Travis Adamski, Aaron Burd, Jr.; two step-daughters, Amanda Burd of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Kimberly Boyer at home; two brothers, William and his wife Mary Ellen Broman, Jr. of Butler, Pennsylvania, Bradley and his wife Marcia Broman of North Apollo, Pennsylvania; one sister, Jill and her husband Robert Cavalero of Butler, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Judy Brown of Butler, Pennsylvania; four nieces and three nephews, one great-niece and two great-nephews.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 19, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. and also on Sunday, April 20, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Thompson - Miller Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday, April 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Barry Murray of Calvary Baptist Church, Allison Park and Reverend Ken Tack of Chicora, Pennsylvania officiating. Interment will follow in Summit Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

William Foster
May 29, 1923 - April 20, 2008
William E. "Bill Foster, age 84 of Wadsworth, Ohio, formerly of Butler, died Sunday, April 20, 2008.
Born May 29, 1923 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Frank F. Foster and the late Grace Coleman Foster.
Mr. Foster was a graduate of Butler High School, and was the class president of the class of 1941. He also attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Bucknell University. Mr. Foster was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theater during WW II. Mr. Foster retired as a Banking Officer from Mellon Bank in 1985, after 44 years of service. He was a member of North Street Christian Church. Bill was active in many civic organizations and clubs. He was an original board member of the United Cerebral Palsy of Butler, Beaver and Lawrence Counties. He was appointed by the Governor to the Board of the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, and was a member of the Butler Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, the Lions and the Butler Little Theater. He also served as treasurer and board member of the Butler Chapter of the American Red Cross. Bill was a life member of B.P.O. Elks #170, having served as treasurer and on the building planning committee. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Butler Historical Society and a lifetime member of the Butler Country Club.
To say that Bill was musical is an understatement, indeed. He had a tenor voice like an angel, and was active for almost 50 years in the Barbershop Harmony Society (formerly known as the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America). He performed for many years with a well-known local quartet, the Bon-Aires; and also in quartets, the Time-Out, and the Singing Butlers. He was a member of the Butler Notables Chorus, and served three terms as treasurer of the Butler Chapter.
Bill was well loved by all who knew him and people commented often about his graciousness and wonderful sense of humor.
Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia Ann Green Foster and also by two brothers, Forrest and Frank.
Mr. Foster is survived by two daughters, Leslie (David) Critchfield of Wadsworth, Ohio, Megan Foster of Blacksburg, Virginia; one son, Eric (Shobhi) Foster of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; three granddaughters, Kiersti (Matthew) Critchfield-Carty, Sara Critchfield, Maya Foster; four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Allene Rattigan, and Grace Fisher of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, Hugh (Georgette) Foster of Chicago, Illinois and by many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Liberty II Assisted Living Center in Wadsworth, Ohio, where Bill resided for the last five years; and to the angel-nurses and staff at the Inn of Medina. Medina County Hospice who cared for Bill so lovingly for the final days of his life.

Reynold A. Keck
March 30, 1915 - April 21, 2008
Reynold A. Keck, age 93 of North Monroe Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at his residence.
Born March 30, 1915 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late F. J. Keck and the late Alma Shearer Keck.
Mr. Keck was a Metallurgist and Supervisor for Armco retiring in 1980 after 45 years of service. He was also the past President of the Armco Credit Union. Mr. Keck was a member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served on church council and was an usher for several years. He was a graduate of Butler High School, class of 1934 and a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, class of 1941 and a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity. Mr. Keck was past officer of the Century Club, he held several offices in the Esquire Club, member of the Saxonburg VFD, a life member of the Butler Elks #170, a life member and a past Master (1955) of the Butler Lodge #272 F&AM, he was a life member of the Butler Royal Arch Chapter #273, a member of the Lorraine Commandery #87 Knights Templar, the A.A.S.R. (Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite) Valley of New Castle, Life member of the Syria Temple, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Caravan 14 of Butler, Butler Shrine Luncheon Club, Accia Club, and a past board member of the Armco Golf Club. Mr. Keck served on the Butler City Zoning and Hearing Board since the 1970's. Mr. Keck received a Plaque in 1993 from Mayor Marion Taylor for his many years of service. In 1996 Mr. Keck received the City of Butler True Citizen Award from Mayor Richard Schontz. He is also a member of AAA, AARP, director of the Butler Area Sports Hall of Fame, and a volunteer at the Butler Area Public Library. He also enjoyed Bingo at the Armco Vets Club.
Mr. Keck is survived by his wife, Martha T. Keck, one son and his wife, John R. and Debbie Keck of Butler, Pennsylvania; one grandchild, Emily Keck; and by two nephews.
Mr. Keck was preceded in death by two sisters, one niece, and two sister-in-laws.

Mary Grace Taggart
January 6, 1915 - April 21, 2008
Mary Grace Coccaro Taggart, age 93, of Barboursville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday, April 21, 2008.
Born January 6, 1915, in Rockwood, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Coccaro and America Coccaro.
For the majority of her life, Mrs. Taggart lived in Butler, Pennsylvania, where she and her husband opened their home to boys, teaching them fitness and boxing skills. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and was well known for her homemade bread, pizza, sauces, pies and cookies. She also loved knitting, crocheting, opera and most recently found endless joy in her great-grandchildren, who affectionately called her Great.
Mrs. Taggart is survived by her daughter and husband, Carolyn and William Riesmeyer of Barboursville, Virginia; her granddaughter and husband, Jennifer and Erik Elvgren of Barboursville, Virginia; three great-grandchildren William Elvgren, Elizabeth Elvgren and Sophia Elvgren all of Barboursville, Virginia; one sister Alice Coccaro Weisenstein of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, two nieces and a nephew.
Mrs. Taggart was preceded in death by her husband Charles Robert Taggart, whom she marriage on June 19, 1933; a son Charles Robert Taggart, Jr.; and three brothers, Joseph Coccaro, Jr., John Coccaro and Albert Coccaro.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, Pennsylvania, Thursday, April 24, 2008, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services will be held Friday, April 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home.

Arthur Wade Percy, Jr.
April 11, 1926 - April 21, 2008
Arthur Wade Percy, Jr., age 82 of Weckerly Road, Butler, Pennsylvania, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in Concordia Lutheran Care, Cabot, Pennsylvania.
Born April 11, 1926 in Butler, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Arthur W. Percy, Sr. and the late Georgia Hutzley Percy.
Mr. Percy was a foreman in the Forge Locomotive and Machine Shop at Armco for 39 years, retiring in April of 1986. He was a member of Nixon United Methodist Church. He served 36 years on the church's board, choir member and president of the United Methodist Men's Group. Mr. Percy was a 1944 graduate from Penn Township High School. He was a sergeant in the Army during WW II serving in the Philippines and Japan from 1944-1946. Mr. Percy was a member of the Armco Mgt. Club. He was a life member of Tanglewood Senior Center, the VFW #249, past master of Victory Lodge #694 F&AM, formerly sang with the Musical Theatre Singers and Bob McGinnis Singers. Mr. Percy was a former gunsmith, hunter, and furniture maker. He was a Penn Township Supervisor, for 18 years he served on the Penn Township Zoning and Hearing board, he was a Deputy Sheriff, he was president of Penn Township Vol. Fire Co. in 1979, Vice President of the Penn Township Ambulance Service and EMT for many years. He received the Silver Beaver Award in scouting and served as district chairman and district commissioner. He was active in Penn Township troop #34 from 1976-1979.
Mr. Percy is survived by his wife, Marion Kirkwood Percy whom he marriage on May 10, 1952; by five sons, James and his wife Cara Percy, of Ohio, Jon Percy and Sheila Ruble, of Kansas, Mark and his wife Carole Percy of Butler, Pennsylvania, Thomas Percy, of California, Roger and his wife Lisa Percy of Butler, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Shirley and her husband Fred Cimino, of California, Nancy Burkher, of California, three sister-in-laws, Carol Sawford of Butler, Pennsylvania, Jean Percy of New Kensington and Velora Percy of Las Vegas, Nevada, one brother-in-law and his wife, Paul and Janet Kirkwood of Butler, Pennsylvania and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Percy, Jr. was preceded in death by two brothers Carl and George Farrell and one sister Patricia.
